TWU IN PHL

This statement is a bit optimistic. Do you really think that the IAM AGC in PHL will admit to anything like this? I mean really...

It's only illegal if you get caught, and you can bet that the media statements coming from them will be rosy.

Put the screws to those that did this, and as always; watch the money.
These Idiots were caught on the Hotel Surveilance System and those tapes have been turned over to the Police.

Been reading this thread and I see it this way,
The IAM had all these years to do there very best for fleet service and fight for us but hell not like this! What a bunch of A holes. I hope the law nails the IAM and thugs and the guys who got that beating sue the heck out of those involved.

I wish all those TWU injured a speedy recovery.

They had zoot suits and fedoras on. No beating though, when they fired up the chainsaws the TWU ran.

I apologize for this post. I believed this was another attempt by a management flamer to discredit the majority of the people in PHL who do their best day after day to provide good service.

There is no justification for the people who make this company run to attack each other.

When the workers at USAirways turn on each other the only beneficiaries are the ones who wish to profit from their labors.

I work for the IAM in PIT and I can guarantee you that we do not condone this behavior. In fact we have a meeting tomorrow and if the AGC from PHL condones this behavior , I will resign and try to help the TWU.
One thing , if you have less than 50 % of the cards signed , don't waste our time because we cannot risk de-certification.Then we are totally screwed.
I'm sure that by now you know exactly what type of Crap they condone in PHL... Intimidation at it's best!!!

Trotti was there, he is okay. The 2 guys that were in the hospital are out. Apparently the 25 guys that jumped them are shop stewards in PHL. I doubt anything will happen to them.

I finally found an article about this topic. Funny (or should I say rightfully) it was an AZ media outlet.

Tensions between unions at the recently merged America West and US Airways turned ugly in Philadelphia on Wednesday, when representatives from two competing unions got into a fight in an airport hotel meeting room.

An official with Tempe-based US Airways confirmed the incident at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott, which involved the police and sent some union representatives to the hospital.

"We're conducting our own investigation, and we're working with the local authorities and cooperating with them as they conduct their investigation," spokeswoman Elise Eberwein said.

She would not speculate on the reasons for the fight, which occurred as representatives of the Transport Workers Union were holding an information session for workers of the old US Airways. The union, which represents America West baggage handlers and related workers, is in a battle with the International Association of Machinists to represent the baggage handlers of the combined airline. The IAM represents baggage handlers from the old US Airways, a significantly larger group of workers.

With all due respect, Mr. Moderator, you forgot this portion of the article:

"Pat Rezler, local president of the America West unit of the TWU, was not at the meeting but said the fight broke out when a group of IAM officials barged into the meeting room and said the union representatives should not be there. An altercation ensued, he said.

"There's competition going on, and basically it erupted today," Rezler said. "It's just disappointing that it came to this."

IAM officials in Philadelphia did not respond to a call seeking comment."

Is that supposed to be funny?

Is there anything about my comment that looks like its supposed to be funny? Its a serious matter. Obviously there is a certain element in PHL that thinks they are exempt from certain laws and policies and they can do whatever they want. I was merely stating that the HP trainers in PHL were lucky that they only experienced the minor version of what some in PHL were capable of before they were "sent home". I hope that the tape shows exactly what happened and if the evidence is there, that they are fired and prosecuted. Somehow I dont think Doug and company will be as likely to turn a blind eye to what is happening in PHL as the last management teams have been.

Why anybody would want "officals" like this representing them is beyond me.

Why is this a fight between unions? We both did not ask for this merger. The fight should be with the Company.
There shouldn't be a fight at all; not between competing unions and not between company & union .. everyone from both sides should work together to turn the merger into the best POSSIBLE situation. Will it be perfect? Of course not, but what is?

yep...they did the same thing to duke snyder and bill freiberger and vic mazzocco when IAM went knocking on thier door some time back...so i don't think its IAM's fault.... ;)

Decertification would be better than IAM.
ok :censored:......hope you don't live to eat your words, because you won't be here to enjoy it.

**Please Refrain from name calling. Thank you**
