TWU-IAM Association thread

Hey Overspeed,

Now that you bring it up and you don't want to get past the 2010 T/A. At what pay rate would we be at if we took the companies first offer which was only a 10% pay reduction in pay in 2003? I know it would of layoff more AMTs, but every single one of them would of been called back. I am pretty sure you voted yes on the second offer which was way worse than the first and the company layed off thousands of AMTs anyway. Stop blaming Bob or Chuck, I am smart enough to read the TA and know it sucked. Why don't you blame local president in Tulsa for telling his guys to vote no on the 2010 T/A cause they weren't getting the geo pay.

After 7 years of taking a hit, and that BS of "Share the Pain, Share the Gain" they come back with another give back T/A. The union shouldn't of even brought it back for a vote. Oh wait, I keep forgetting this is a company union.

Business as usual. I see more concessions for that dangling carrot of Delta plus 7, whatever the plus 7 represents. They are eager to start negotiations. Why not the sooner you get a deal the less money they spend in negotiations. In reality this complex unity of two dysfunctional unions should take a long time to merge the work rules to a point where both sides agree. Unfortunately the association is not living in the real world. They will look at where the majority of the yes votes will come from and put together a package according to the majority. There is more division now with two companies than before.

The local in Tulsa was pushing very hard for a yes vote in 2010.  GEO pay had nothing to do with it.  It was all about saving jobs.  I stood out by the front gate with a Vote NO sign for several days.  I have never believed that taking concessions saves jobs. The jobs always dissappear no matter what.

When you watch the video I was the second question. Prefunding match question again.
I'm glad you addressed the issue again. Nice job and well presented. But I have the feeling that the prefunding match WILL wind up being used until the last eligible retiree reaches 65. He did say it would be either returned to the active employees OR used on the retirees....
What puzzles me is the vague response that the 114 has not been resolved...

BTW the two mechanics who asked the question about the 4% and the maintenance issues are former JFKers.

Thanks Metal. He didn't answer the 1114 question or the throw at him of some type of "Retirement Bridge" All I can do is try and at least maybe throw another log on the fire to keep the issue burning.

That Mechanic who said I'm going to hit you between the eyes was a freakin Rock Star. Fantastic Job!!!! Had to go shake his hand after that masterful display.

Also notice how Parker said that the 4% was used to get the APA to sign a deal. "Chess"

TWU-IAM Association Gears Up For Joint Contract Talks WTF how long is this going to drag out. The pilots and f/a got deals right away. We should also have a 30 day mou to go to arbitration. We are going to get screwed again they will drag this out to the point where the company is losing money. We have the association where is are 4% Christmas bonus from 2014?

You dont want to go to arbitration, the FAs lost the arbitration.

You dont want your CBA imposed by a third party, it takes all the control out of your hands.

You can thank the iam for not getting the 30 day mou. They used that as leverage so that they could bring themselves up to an AA bankrupt contract when usair was making billions in profits. That is a great job of bargaining. Lets not forget how the iam hurried the vote so that the members would not see the quarterly profits. They only gave there members one day to vote. You had to go to the union hall on a Fri to vote when the profits were coming out on the following Wed. That was a fine job of manipulation and preventing the members from having all of the information so that they could make an educated decision. Corporate unionism at its best.

That is why the IAM should have agreed to go with the larger TWU as did the USAPA did with the APA and the flight attendants.
By agreeing to "share" us, I beleive this will drag on due to the many differences in contracts between IAM and TWU.
