Usair will shut down Tulsa by February of 2014 and farm out all 737 work by South American company. Hope y'all will be glad you voted that contract in did y'all a great favor go twu

Doug Parker has given Tulsa a two year guarantee to remain open after the merger is approved.

More Teamster misdirection from their failures. United and Continental all outsource 50% or more of their maintenance spend. Before UA members voted in the Teamsters the spend was 40% in 2007 and it not stands at 50%. Teamster power? Not!

TUL isn't going anywhere, we have an actual cap in our agreement. In BK AA wanted the IBT scope language because they wanted to outsource more work like United and Continental. Research the facts brothers and sisters. Airlines under IBT contracts have fewer AMTs and Title II mechanics than any other airline. We still have more M&R with a BK negotiated contract than the IBT does at United and Continental in a non-BK contract. The IAM has better scope language at US than the IBT. United with 3 lines of airframe overhaul is a lot less than the amount of inhouse work at US.

How much does USAir outsource now? What role will Tulsa serve in a fleet full of new airplanes not in need of a D check for awhile?.............Serious questions.

Tulsa has eight lines closing in the next three months! Question is, will new work return to these areas? AA "Out-sourcing group" is doing a fine job finding new MRO bidders. TWU work-rules pushes our costs way above MRO cost. If they(TWU)don't change(real world maintenance), the next 12 months maybe the end for Tulsa.

US can outsource only 50% of billable hours of heavy maintenance.

(J) Company base maintenance employees will perform fifty
17 (50%) percent or greater of all aircraft base maintenance work,
18 inclusive of narrow and wide-body aircraft, as follows: On an
19 annualized basis, for every billable hour of work from aircraft base
20 maintenance vendors performing Company base maintenance
21 work; modification work; scheduled drop in maintenance; and any
22 drop-in maintenance relating to fuselage damage or any other
23 damage, there will be an equal or greater number of paid hours to
24 Company base maintenance employees. This includes Company
25 Lead Mechanics, Mechanics, Inspectors, Utility and Lead Utility
26 (combined) assigned to base maintenance.
27
28 Deck work for vendor heavy maintenance overhaul will
29 continue to be built by Base Maintenance Planners.
30
31 All aircraft line maintenance work, including phase
32 checks and lower level checks above a daily check (e.g. A & B
33 checks, overnight checks, weekly checks and unscheduled drop in
34 maintenance), preformed by base maintenance employees will not
35 be included as Company base maintenance hours for the purposes
36 of this provision.
37
38 Livery work may be outsourced and the billable hours do
39 not count as base maintenance work, but other work performed by
40 the vendor during the livery visit may be outsourced and the
41 billable hours for such other work will count towards base
42 maintenance work.
43
44 Aircraft lease return maintenance visits may be
45 outsourced and the vendor’s billable hours will count towards base
46 maintenance work.

As Informer said - it could happen, but odd that the news comes from a Teamster whose username says he fixes brown box haulers. What the hell would he know about AA's plans for TULE. Yes, the TWU sucks, but misinformation from the IBT may be worse.

The fact is that either Tulsa will get better management and the union worker will embrace an accountable work place attitude or it will be gone soon. We have no management or Union leadership that is advocating such a culture change, so everyone best be looking beyond this job soon.

100% agree, Either we change or failure is our future.

Pittsburgh heavy maintenance only has one year left on the leases, my prediction is PIT heavy closes after negotiations leave it unprotected and the work moves to Tulsa.

What a bunch of BS!!!!!!

If AA didn't close TULE in BK, it's not going to happen. I believe It will shrink by 50% by 2017, and that's according to the TWU(which cannot be found on line anymore) but then again Parker might shut down TULE and move it all to PIT, depends which chamber of commerce has the better package. The contract doesn't say protect Tulsa, it says protects maint. Outsourcing. Seeing how USairways wins awards for their maintenance, and we are being taken over by mostly US airways management, it doesn't seem to be beyond the relm of possibilities that the New AA OH could move to PIT. Remember when UAL closed their Indianapolis maint base but kept SFO maint base open. Ind is a lot cheaper then SFO.

The big question is, where does the wife of the executive in charge of the New AA OH maint want to live? A rejuvenated Pittsburg or Tulsa OK?

The main reason IND got closed instead of SFO was resale value. IMC had potential buyers, SFO didn't.

Same situation at TUL and AFW.

Pit is way too small to handle a merged airline. It will close and move to Tul. It only has one year left on its lease.
