Tulsa AMT movement.

first of all, you didn't even quote what I said correctly so it is no surprise that you came to the wrong conclusion.

I did not say that DL has the largest maintenance facility.

I said that DL Tech Ops is the largest airline maintenance MRO in the western hemisphere.

your argument is no different than arguing that AA is the largest airline because it has the most aircraft.

the number of aircraft in the fleet does not mean anything until those aircraft are used to generate revenue. DL and UA have far fewer aircraft but generate comparable revenue - which says they use their fleet more efficiently for revenue production. AA is still early in the merger process but the reason why DL and WN have had such high Return on Invested Capital is in part because they use their fleet more efficiently.

and having DL's major maintenance base in a city that is their largest hub helps; AA has maintenance and fleet inefficiencies because TUL is so far from a hub. Don't think that AA hasn't quantified that cost and figures it into total cost of doing business there.

and in terms of the "superiority" of what DL produces, show us the comparable stats regarding maintenance efficiency. There isn't an airline in the US and perhaps in the world that is generating reliability AND cost stats as good as what DL Tech Ops is doing.
My Data is that when the TWU allowed some 727s to be outsourced to Delta years ago they came back in lousy condition.  I personally found an aileron cable wrapped around another cable and had to replace both cables.  That was just one problem on one of the airplanes they "Overhauled" for us.  Anyone who worked 727 heavy C in the 80s will remember these pieces of junk that Delta gave us back.  It took us 2 weeks on each of them to get them to where our test pilots would release them for revenue flights.  About 10 years ago Delta sent us several components to overhaul in my shop so we did.  When we sent them back they were amazed that we could actually fix them.  They also offered that they got half of the reliability from them than we did.  So ours flew twice as long as theirs.  Then Delta management balked at paying the labor fee.  I witnessed these things so your stats don't mean squat.  Also the fact that you know nothing about aircraft or powerplant maintenance but continue to post your crap about Delta and how superior they are to everyone on an American Airlines blog shows you are looking for trouble.  Go fly a kite.  My cousin did work for Delta for many years.  He started throwing bags and retired as a gate agent.  He was very happy to get out and does not have much good to say about it.  As far as any Delta mechanics who are offended, If you worked on 727s for us or worked on the components that they sent us then you are a sorry excuse for a mechanic and should find another job.  Of course not everyone there is incompetent but someone sure crossed those cables and someone inspected them and signed them off.  Of course you would know nothing about any of this WT because you know nothing about what it takes to work in the airline industry.  All I know is if I was doing work for another airline I would make sure they got a quality product back.  The crap we got back from them showed me they didn't care.  No way anyone can justify that so Delta guy go ahead and get mad.  Of course we did notice the paint job on the airplanes was exceptional so they covered a turd with gold leaf and called it good.  Pretty sorry and no excuse.  Now will you go away and leave us alone?  Go to the Delta blog and tell them how great they are.  You are a pest.  As far as TopDawg, My opinion is mine and I call em like I see em.  If we had sent back crap like Delta sent us you would be thinking the same thing about us and rightfully so.  Like I said.  I saw it with my own eyes and had to fix it after Delta did a heavy C on the airplanes.  If you want to counter with market share then go ahead.  All I know is Delta learned how to play the BK game better than anyone else.  I wouldn't be too proud of that. But like Forest Gump said, "That's all I got to say about that."  Now I will save myself from a high blood pressure problem and put WT on ignore like I should have long ago.  Go get a life you putz.

One fun fact.......  Which airline landed at the wrong airport in Kentucky in 1987?  You guessed it.  Delta. (Delta gets you close)  Which airline also in 87 had a pilot (Trained by them) shut off both engines of a 767 over the Pacific Ocean?  Of course Delta.  In the old days we used to say Delta stood for Do Not Expect Luggage To Arrive.
Now since this is a thread about AA MECHANICS and movement of them in TULSA would all those with constant chubbies for Delta airlines mind your own business?
The word is the movement will take place on April 17th so the 7 day notices should be going out on the 10th.  We'll see what happens next week.  At American Airlines in Tulsa.

Now moving BACK to the topic at hand... you know what? I WANT to see TUL grow and I would LOVE to see AA have as big of an MRO operation as DL does.

Really.

Competition is good. success for anyone is not limited.

The world is really big enough for plenty of success stories.

You guys just have to get your own leadership to believe that TUL is a valuable enough asset to invest in and grow.

AA leaders, not residents and taxpayers of TUL.

AA leaders.

Over my career I've worked at several carriers, the OH work at AA is top notch. I remember at other carriers we got planes back with more placards on them coming out of OH than when they went in. The bright spot was the OT we made cleaning them up.

The 777s being done in HK. I had heard that the damage to the skin is being painted over and signed off as a permanent fix. Is that fact or fiction?

As I work in TUL and in Heavy Maintenance, but only the 737, I do not know about the 777 HK  issue, but I can tell you the work coming out of the MRO's is repaired here in TUL.

Yeah I would put AA maintenance up against anyone else.

Notices given to day to machinists and welders in the Turbine Building.  Effective April 26th.  That's one week after shift change.  I'm guessing the AMTs will be given their notices on April 19th so they get exactly a weeks notice.  Dirty pool as this is being done a week after shift change.  Guys will get stuck on afternoons for the summer and not able to use their seniority to bid off for 90 days.  This is how management does us here in Tulsa.  No respect.

Somehow I disagree, even though this is the first I heard of this notice, I believe that those Machinists and Welders will be "awarded" their existing shifts until the next shift selection 90 days away.

On the line we have 6 month bids, we didn't ask for that. 3 months on afternoons is better then 6 months on nights.

there really isn't any movement unless the high timers want to change. I've been stuck on the same crap shift for years. Just like the line

If the numbers that we were originally told to us of AMT's surplussed out of PALM you will be seeing a lot of 86 & 87
year seniority folk, I'am guessing the first full bid cycle will see some changing & even a lower morale problem that exists
today.

If it is true that  seniority of 86 and 87 come to Hangar 1&2, you are absolutely correct. I wonder what management is going to do with all the 737 experienced mechanics being pushed off of dayshift? Morale, morale does not matter brother, you know where the gate is.
