Question for the AA guys.
If a person works in Planning or MOC for lets say 20 years and they want to bid a Mechanic position do they keep their full 20 years seniority or do they go to the bottom of the mechanics list when bidding for days off?
Here at US Airways the mechanics are always on the bottom of the priority. For example if a mechanic bids a MOC or planner position they go to the BOTTOM of the list when bidding for days off. When an MOC guy bids back to the floor he keeps all his time.
The reason I ask is we have people in PIT that don't want to move to DFW so they are bidding back to the floor, and we got people with 25 years that have never touched an Aircraft not had any schools and can't sign an airworthy release.
I noticed that on the AA title 1 list you got OSM and cleaners. We do maintain a separate list for the Utility classification. If they cross over after getting an A&P ticket they do go to the bottom of the Mechanics list.
I was talking about this with several of my co-workers and we are wondering how this is going to play out once we get a JCBA.
Any thoughts?
So how does this work?

In order for these guys that don't want to go to DFW to "bid" back on the floor, there has to be bids.  There hasn't been any bids for Line or Overhaul in PIT for a long time.  They aren't even replacing the people that retire or kick the bucket.

If any of these guys don't want to go to DFW, the company is going to have to create a position and "absorb" these people back in PIT.

At aa planning is not a union position its considered management. If you take a management slot after a period of time you are considered management you lose your occupational seniority and are considered management. You cannot return If you do you start occupation seniority. Is you change title groups I.e. go from stores to maintenance as you gain a day in maintenance (title1) you lose a day in stores (title 4).
Unless you are part of the bubba club and have pull with the international rules don't apply and anything is possible. Welcome to the twu!

The Planners have been accredited and will be under the M&R CBA at the New AA.

TWU-IAM Association Determines Servicing and Negotiating Responsibilities for Work Groups in the Mechanic and Related, Fleet Service and Stores Classes and Crafts

July 21, 2015

The TWU-IAM Association determined servicing and bargaining responsibilities for the following work groups, which were included as part of the TWU-IAM Association’s certification for the Mechanic & Related, Fleet Service and Stores classes and crafts, but were only represented by either the TWU or the IAM (or were unrepresented) prior to the US Airways/American Airlines merger.

The TWU will maintain all servicing and negotiating responsibilities for Flight Simulator Technicians and Engineers as it did prior to the US Airways/American Airlines merger.

The IAM will maintain all servicing and negotiating responsibilities for Quality Assurance, Planners (including CLP/Weight & Balance) and Technical Document Specialists (including the previously unrepresented persons in these work groups that are included in the NMB class & craft determinations) as it did prior to the US Airways/American Airlines merger.

Both the TWU and IAM will assume servicing responsibilities for all Tower Planning and Tower Operations personnel in accordance with the TWU-IAM Association’s station allocation agreement.

All of the other work classifications that were commonly represented by TWU and IAM on either pre-merger US Airways or American Airlines will continue to be jointly represented in negotiations and future servicing on the New American Airlines.

These Association determinations are critical as they will lead to joint contract negotiations for the above specialized work groups, as well as maintain and extend representation to existing and newly represented workers

Someone please tell these planners in TUL who they belong to and who they can speak to.

Today the engine shop managers from around the system had a town hall
meeting in Tulsa and a Q&A session after. Did anybody happen
to get any positive news from any of the meetings?
I just called the Engine shop ( 07/21/2015  4:30pm ) The meeting consisted of a bunch of nothing but, the mechanics were told something good is going to happen but I can't tell you.

They are looking for another motor to work on and have hired 6 supervisors  and 19 planners for the Turbine Building.

They arent under the CBA yet until there is a JCBA I believe.

They can call IAM District Lodge 142 to find out, or I would have them call the planners in CLT and they can point them in the right direction.

According to the one meeting they did have, the two different sets of planners accomplish different tasks

According to the daylight "meeting" today,  The union is going to follow the contract, and "no special deals" to the guys that elect not to go to DFW.  They'll have to bump the junior man in the station, most likely auto shop, if they're not going to follow the MOC job to DFW.

Things are changing fast here.

Thank you for the clarification on this issue. We will move it along to the appropriate union members for evaluation.
