I know we are doing Airbus phase checks on the line and at DWH. I will visit with our Airbus rep tomorrow and see what he knows as far as heavy checks and schedule. Personally, I do not see TULE doing the heavy checks, but that is just my opinion. But can anyone comment on the AirBus work?
I don't know of any AMT's that have been to 787 school. Except for maybe people in the composite shop.bigjets said:Has any mech from Tulsa gone to China to repair that 787 with hail damage?
Thank you for that bit of information. We on the TWU side did not know that. I'll ask my twu reps at the next meeting to confirm it.700UW said:CLT base manager is lobby to bring all the baby bus work from BFM to CLT.

The pilots returned to the Beijing airport, and there the airplane sits while experts from American, Boeing and engine manufacturer GE check it out and do some repairs to get it flying again.
“We expect to ferry the aircraft to Dallas/Fort Worth the early part of next week,” AA spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said Thursday. “We haven’t found anything that we didn’t expect to find. There are no major structural issues.”

Of course it can't be the third party maint. outfit's fault. Remember the seats installed by Timco were loosened from soda pop being in the tracks and since AA AMTs signed off A checks and PS/0912 checks they "Touched the seats last". They will never admit they are getting shoddy third party maint. Also amazing how they won't commit to anything going to Tulsa in the future. Reminds me of the lawyer from Saturday Night Live that answers questions by talking but not giving answers. This is what happens when guys who ran a glorified regional airline try to run the biggest airline in the free world. No clue and no plan. Thanks for Jim Little and the other union leaders for selling us out to these shysters.Buck said:2Q15 State of the Airline Q&A - Operations

Q. With all the issues the 767 and 777 are having, can we bring the C check back in house?
A. The issues that the B767s and B777s have been having are unrelated to the where the heavy checks are being performed. In fact, most of the B767s heavy checks are still being done in Tulsa (TULE). We have sent modification work to our third party vendors. As for the B777-200, our constraints have been with the seating manufacturer and not the heavy maintenance provider.
Q. We have been told that Tulsa will stay open and be a center of excellence. What does this mean?
A. Tulsa will play an important role in the future of Base Maintenance for American Airlines. “Center of Excellence” means focusing on areas of the operation where we know we are best in class and providing a volume of work that will support a stable workforce. We are retiring older jets from our fleet like the MD80, but we’re also combining our two airlines, both of which have taken delivery of many new aircraft. There will be about 960 aircraft in our new mainline fleet, so there will be maintenance opportunities to sustain the Tulsa Base.
As we retire the old and induct the new, we’ll keep looking at how our Base Maintenance will evolve to support the airline’s needs. Currently, we have also added some Intermediate Maintenance Lines in both Tulsa (TULE) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (DWH) for the B737s and B767s to improve their operational reliability.
this "center of excellence" term must be the new flavor of the month. Delta has been tossing it out there too.Buck said:

Delta pulled it out a year or so ago when they opened the 330 c-check line in MSP. (what you guys call a light C)Buck said:It has been a New AA term since the Merger Team arrived.....
