Typical TWU balloting
Didn't know that, Thx.

Still, Y'all can't get the support in Tulsa to remove the unaccountable TWU.

Like I said, You cease to amaze sometimes!

And he had around 550 votes out of what around 4 or 5 thousand eligible voters. Vote turn out is always pretty low

It's nice to know that it was a shadee twu operation, rather then a Tul mech not learning from past mistakes, but then apathy is worse then voting for someone who was ineffective.

That may be so but compare the cost of an airline ticket to fly halfway across the United States to shipping something the same dimensions and weight as a human body. The profit margins are much higher for freight.

Yes but the human "freight" only has to be delivered to the airport, then they get up and walk out. If the margins are so high then why did AA do away with their freighters?

You know when I worked for AA accounting auditing airline tickets I asked my boss why we didn't collect more aggressively on money owed to us by travel agencies.

His response was "We are in the business of transporting passengers not collecting debts".

I am going to give you about the same answer.

American Airlines is in the business of transporting passengers, not a freight company.

If you are going to be a successful company you need an agenda, a goal. Freight simply was not part of their business plan.

Airlines may only drop passengers off at the airport but they incur costs in a lot of other ways that freight companies don't.

Someone is wrong again:

Your global shipping solution.
We provide more than 100 million pounds of weekly cargo lift to major cities in the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia. For almost 80 years, we have consistently pushed the edge of cargo technology and expanded our network around the world.

And AA Cargo had revenue of $830 million in 2013.

Nobody said they did not transport cargo 700UW. I know they do because I have loaded it. However, as far as I know they don't have dedicated cargo aircraft. The cargo they ship is "along for the ride".

That is 830 million they made from cargo "along for the ride".

If I am wrong and they have dedicated cargo (air freight) aircraft let me know.

You dont have to have a dedicated freighter to be in the cargo business, and as I have posted you are wrong.  Cargo is almost a billion dollars in additional revenue for AA.

Many years ago I was told passengers paid for fuel, take off/landing fees and maintenance. Cargo paid ($ CEO, VP, management, bonuses, and company negotiations) .

I am not going to say you are wrong but I don't share your opinion.

An airline that happens to carry cargo is not the same thing as a dedicated freight company. That is my opinion. The two use different business models. That is a fact.

And guess you didnt know that UPS use to have QCs and carried passengers too.

You can disagree all you want, Cargo is a billion dollars in extra revenue for AA, if it didnt make money, they wouldnt carry it.

I worked Air Cargo at Piedmont Airlines, we had the LGW flight originate in TPA, and would have to book space over a week in advance to carry all the cargo, which was a lot, TPA was the fifth busiest cargo station in the PI system.

In the 1990s, eight 727s were converted (at a cost of $2.5 million each) into 727-100QC (QC=Quick Change) freighters that were able to be converted into passenger aircraft for the purpose of charters.

8 whole aircraft.......

I did not say cargo did not make money. I said it is not their primary business focus. American Airlines primary business focus is transporting passengers.

Mechanics work on airplanes, the purpose is to keep them airworthy, right? If you are transporting people or freight, it does not matter, if either falls from the sky, people die.

That is a nice sentiment but if that is all there was to it than American Eagle mechanics would make American Airlines mechanic pay.
