Teamsters filed at USAir for representation

A typical elitist attitude, I want mine and screw everyone else.

Being a union member and a member of the labor movement is about the good of everyone not just you.

No, not typical elitist attitude. It's not I want mine, screw everyone else. Unions should be about keeping the good wages and benefits, not concessions for jobs or keeping wages lower and not 'trimming the fat'. I'm all about getting more work in house, but I'm not going to take a paycut to get it.

No election has been set at DL the IAM hasn't even filed. You and Kev can keep saying there is all kinds of support but the fact is DL employees have repeatedly defeated the unions in the past, the IAM doesn't represent FAs at any major US carrier at this time (only regionals), what has changed this time for DL FAs to succumb to the IAM and their empty promises? Sure they may have asked for the IAM and held events at the Winpisinger center but its likely just nostalgic and disgruntled NWA FAs that don't like working without representation.

Josh

You don't get it. The IAM didn't approach the F/A group; it's the other way around. As for "empty promises," I'd say the company has that market cornered...

And yeah; people don't like working w/o represntation. They're not digruntled; they're just not fans of consistently inconsistent application of policy, an ever changing set of rules, and a general theme of being f'ed over on a daily basis. Like I always say; the company is doing a much better job of fueling card signing(s) than any activist ever could.

Lets see WN, UA, CO, DL and UPS does it quite well they outsource the majority of their heavy.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

I doubt that the capacity exists to take on all of AA's heavy maintenance. Especially since the amount of people going into aircraft maintenance has slowed down to a trickle. I get the e-mails from from the aviation hiring websites. I see the job openings for aircraft mechanics across the country, and abroad. There are hundreds of jobs available. Trouble is, none of them pay enough, or offer decent benefits. Point is, many of these third party maintenance vendors cannot retain or attract new aircraft mechanics. What you will start to see is the costs being put on the airlines, once the vendors realize the supply and demand is in their favor.

Facts you say? What is your point? I have friends or relatives at all those airlines you listed, and I have been well aware of the outsourcing of heavy maintenance that goes on. It hasn't been all peaches and cream as you suggest either. Countless stories of vendor screw ups - I wouldn't doubt if you had heard of some as well.

My point is - our union, the TWU has been trading pay and benefits of line mechanics to keep overhaul inhouse. Well, now overhaul seems to be going bye bye anyway. Yet here we are stuck at the bottom of the industry for pay and benefits. I never want to have negotiators like that represent me again - so that automatically excludes the commie like structures at the TWU, IAM, or IBT! Now that's a fact.

Little info for you: YOU DON'T Need A A&P To Work For A FBO All you need is one A&P to sign off the work and the non-A&P's work under the FBO's Certificate.

As far as the TWU and trading PAY and BENEFITS that just shows the Misrepresentation under the TWU.

You Don't need to sell you OH Brothers out to get your fair share they are A&P's also you need a union that fights for all of you, Line and your OH Brothers. You need to stop driving the wedge between you and start fighting together. A Union that sell's out OH as AMFA has in the past like the NWA ALT GA. OH That was shut down And did not raise the first sign of fight to keep it is not the answer.

We Need a Union That Will Fight For All Of Us And The IBT Will And Shows Just That With Top End Contracts At Other Airlines.

You AMFA supporters know how to make the OH boys feel safe!!

Having 8-10 mechanics per plane did nothing for my paycheck. Now, at the place with only 2.5/plane I'm starting to make up for all of those years that I had to settle for less.

I will second that motion. I have had enough of giving wages and benefits to keep more overhaul in house. It's obvious who that logic benefits - the dues collectors. Sure, it would be nice to have everything done in house. Just not at the expense of every AMT on the clock. If the company really thinks that they are going to get a quality product, in a reasonable amount of time - from one of these hillbilly overhaul sweatshops, or some third world shite hole let them try.

VOTE IBT.

You have to look at all this with a grain of common sense. If the TWU had this smoking gun as they say and all it was he said she said they did. ( “While our declarations did not directly witness the commission of the forgeries, they were alerted to this misconduct by fellow organizers and other staff who either witnessed the misconduct or were made aware of it,”TWU told NMB.) http://www.tdu.org/m...erican-airlines
The NMB would have stopped this by now I would think by this time, what 6 weeks or more now?
And now the iam is crying wolf too. BOTH UNIONS WOULD NOT BE IN THE PLACE THEY ARE NOW IF THE WOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE AMT PROFESSIONALS.

I guess if all went wrong and I had to change the support I have due to a lack of votes for the IBT I would take the amfa boys advice and stay IAM and vote NO on the iam/twu union BS.
My reason for that is that the IAM has just been put on a Down F33king Hard Notice that its ass better start working to get the AMT some MONEY AND BENEFITS or they WILL NOT be around the next time and they know it!, IF THEY ARE LUCKY TO WIN THIS TIME.
So for me it's a win win thing unless the IAM studies the amfa how to fail play book.

Have A Nice IBT Day robbedagain :D

robbedagain I will still support IBT at AA no matter what the out come here at US.

Thats right 700 you would not be done with me yet LOL

Have a good one!!

There is no ibt at AA, so you have nothing to support.

I have read the affidavits that have been filed with the NMB, several organizer from the ibt have stated under oath they forged cards.

What makes no sense is that the former ibt represented mechanics have gotten an average of 30% increase since the merger, and they complain.

You had no sick time, no pension and the worst scope language in the industry.

Did you have yours when the IAM got rejected at DL, UA FAs, and other election. The membership could send the IAM packing.

Awa had sick time, paid at 100%. They also had no pension, but a 401k match (something lousy, but still something), and yes, bad scope language.

We should have gotten 35% right off the get go to put us up to industry average pay at that time and 3% each year to try to stay up with the cost of living.
blue collar is correct on the sick time and 401k. The scope was weak but it had some real good things in it and as this was our first union contract at AWA it was 1000 times better than what we had as a non-union work group.

Keep spinning 700 you will talk yourself into believing your on BS.

Nothing to support at AA. The latest fiasco with the filing will not only deny the Teamsters of a filing but it will open up another chapter in the Teamsters ongoing corrupt ways of conduction union drives. This may force the NMB to review their own rules and reinforce them to prevent a spoiler to file in order to keep a legitimate union from filing. Travis it is not your fault what the Teamsters did but you need to realize what kind of a organization you support.
