Teamsters filed at USAir for representation

Made by a Delta Flight Attendant, try again joshie

No election has been set at DL the IAM hasn't even filed. You and Kev can keep saying there is all kinds of support but the fact is DL employees have repeatedly defeated the unions in the past, the IAM doesn't represent FAs at any major US carrier at this time (only regionals), what has changed this time for DL FAs to succumb to the IAM and their empty promises? Sure they may have asked for the IAM and held events at the Winpisinger center but its likely just nostalgic and disgruntled NWA FAs that don't like working without representation.

I dont have to prove anything, WN only has 2.5 mechanics per plane, US has between 8 and 10.

Having 8-10 mechanics per plane did nothing for my paycheck. Now, at the place with only 2.5/plane I'm starting to make up for all of those years that I had to settle for less.

I will second that motion. I have had enough of giving wages and benefits to keep more overhaul in house. It's obvious who that logic benefits - the dues collectors. Sure, it would be nice to have everything done in house. Just not at the expense of every AMT on the clock. If the company really thinks that they are going to get a quality product, in a reasonable amount of time - from one of these hillbilly overhaul sweatshops, or some third world shite hole let them try.

Most of you guys just don't get it. USAirways was/is a medium sized short haul carrier with a high cost structure. It filed bankruptcy twice and almost went Chap 7 during the first gulf war because Schofield went below minimum bankruptcy levels. This company has barely been in business for the last 15 years. The airlines pared capacity, Wolfe moved into Philly, Europe and the Carribean. Parker started cost cutting measures and expanded the hub routes added baggage fees etc to bring the company back into the black.. You can't get blood out of a turnip ! If the billions were there the Unions, any Union would have some leverage. Pilots, Stews, and M&R are getting medium sized carrier wages for the payroll the company has been supporting. Even the IAM stated to senior members they could have gotten WN wages if you want to go down to their numbers. One 40 yr member even uttered he would be fine with that scenario. He didn't care if another 1000 got furloughed. Now being part of a larger airline will change all that. The profits of the New American Airlines will give the airline unions leverage for a change.

Ted Reed of TheStreet has alwayz been an iam supporter. Him writing an article addressing forgery isnt surprising. He has spoken at several iam events including the transportation conference. Just saying

Josh, over the last ten years, every union has broken damn near every promise as these unions sign on to corporate greed.

A typical elitist attitude, I want mine and screw everyone else.

Being a union member and a member of the labor movement is about the good of everyone not just you.

Wrong, he wrote an article that slammed the IAM and 1725 in regards to the dues objectors Masseillo and Sickler when they were fired from US for not paying dues, it was in the Charlotte Observer when Ted worked for them.

Wrong again Timmie.

Lets see WN, UA, CO, DL and UPS does it quite well they outsource the majority of their heavy.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

Huh? lol. Wrong where? I sat there at the transportation conference in New York and Robert Roach introduced him as one of 'the good guys'.

He has not always been an IAM supporter.

David Bourne is the appointed head of the Teamsters ATD.

“The Teamsters Union strongly takes issue with the characterization of our effort to win representation for the American mechanics as a ‘raid’,” said David Bourne, director of the Teamsters airline division, in a prepared statement provided to Forbes late Wednesday. “TWU had determined it was going to lose the group and consented to allow the Teamsters to organize and collect authorization cards.
”TWU monitored our campaign and card collection for over a year and encouraged the filing of the election petition,” Bourne said.

Garry Drummond is the appointed head of the TWU ATD.

Drummond said. “Once that process was concluded we actively resisted all such efforts, including the IBT’s. We specifically requested that the IBT cease its raiding activity on American many months before its filing and it refused to do so” Makes me wonder if there will be a lawsuit due to the no-raid clause between these two unions?

Good God, we all can only hope so...
