Teamsters filed at USAir for representation

But you still boast about being on a "negotiating" committee that delivered unprecedented concessions to the employees at US and had far reaching effects for workers at other carriers too.

Cue the predictable "our contract was abrogated, don't you know what that means...we were required to negotiate concessions by law..."

earlier you said that the 401k money is your own money. I was merely pointing out that the company contributions that United {the company] has to make to the IBT mechanics retirement [in this case a 401k] is significantly more than what United [the company] has to contribute to the IAMPF for IAM members at United. Thus, the 401k is much more expensive for the company. Not sure but isn't the United MX 401k funded by the airline at 5% earnings without a match?
Wrong, 5% match. No match, no scratch.

First of all IBT promised UA a defined pension plan.

With your all knowing knowledge how come you cant understand a 401k is not a pension plan?

The IAM never arbitrated Tampa, a lawsuit was filed in court and won by the IAM, US used chapter 11 to get out of paying it, shall I have Regan send it to you?

Since you claim to know it all, you dont know diddly.

The TPA work is in CLT.

A 401k will run out in 15 years, a pension doesnt.
The Tampa A320 work is actually in Pit. Pit got the narrow body Airbus work and Charlotte was sent the 737's. There were some 300 employees in TPA that were displaced in Bankruptcy so I'm not quite sure what TN is talking about either. Except to spread BS stories and somehow claim a 5% 401K is a good thing. The IBT couldn't even get a 1% bump to 6% in the last UA contract. They also only got a one time 2012 raise with no further raises I am assuming until after a single CBA can be reached. Whenever that is since UA is still losing money and they can't figure out their seniority roster. Go figure.

First time I've seen my AGC or any one from the upper IAM in over a Year was after the IBT Filed cards and the First time the boys on recall have seen any updates or any thing from the IAM wasn't till the IBT campaign and filed cards and now they get informed.... I guess out of sight out of mind till they need you.
Who works for Who?

HAVE A NICE IBT DAY!
Aren't furloughed members allowed to attend meetings, call their locals, receive mailings etc? Even the IBT at UA/CTL had to take people off the seniority list because they didn't have current addresses. That is the members responsibility. Its not your Unions job to play detective. US has hired 1000 Mechanics off the street since 05. Anyone still furloughed could have gotten a job somewhere in the system. How is their negligence any Union's fault ?

Explain to me how any can stop a company from closing a location?

Especially during chapter 11.

I really enjoy how you ignore who the ibt imposed concessions at CO in 2005.

How they are the most corrupt union in the world and are under government oversight since 1969, and last week another ibt leader is indicted on criminal charges.

How did the ibt protect the Hostess workers?

700 the IBT worked with Hostess management to offer the necessary concessions for the restructuring. It was the militant "we'll shut them down" BCTGM that failed the hostess workers for their unwillingness to accept the difficult reality. Don't let the facts get in your way.

Josh

josh if i remember though those employees had already given i think it was 3 rounds of concessions regardless of who the union was or could have been it just seems to me that the mgmt had a flawed business plan i mean those folks were scrapin by yet why should they have to go down further for a plan that was failing them

Robbed,
You are correct and as I posted in the Hostess thread management did a bad job running the company and they didn't adapt with the changing consumer tastes and preferences to healthier whole grain products. However many of the work rules were incredibly restrictive and hindered the company.

Josh

ok i did not know what their work rules were but it most likely had a real negative effect on the company..

Vote IBT!!

Have A Nice IBT Day

Don't throw stones Travis, your savior IBT at UAL is letting the company keep furloughed UAL guys on the street while hiring newbies off the street at Continental. Way to go IBT.

Cue the FACT The IAM Failed it's Members!

Just like the IBT is failing its UAL members that are on furlough. The IBT also failed its members at SWA. You know what that led too, don't you?

The rest of the story.......

Lets say you get hired at UAL and laid off 3 years later, then recalled 10 years after that.....total time 13 years.

Before the teamsters CBA:

You'd return with 13 years seniority for pay, vacation, pass travel, and bidding purposes.

Now Under the teamsters CBA

You'd return with only 90 days over 3 years for pay, vacation, pass travel, and bidding purposes.

+ they increased the time to top out in pay to 7 years.

.......but yeah we still have "lifetime" recall rights.
Wow! Gotta love them there teamsters. And I thought unions were all about seniority? Here the teamsters not only gave away seniority, they gave any member that had to take a lay-off more reasons to look elsewhere for another career. They were also very successful in extending the top out scale by years. Typical teamsters...
