Teamsters filed at USAir for representation

Just my opinion but what I'm seeing is the company is not taking the IAM seriously as usual...Most shift the blame to the current election but it started way before that...

Every time you talk about the IAM National Pension Plan you reveal how misinformed you are.

The average UAL Mechanic earned $64,970 in 2012 (Interestingly, US Airways Mechanics earned more--$67,476-- because of increased overtime opportunities due to less outsourcing). If you don't believe me, click the following link:

http://web.mit.edu/airlinedata/www/2012%2012%20Month%20Documents/Employees%20and%20Compensation/MX/Average%20Annual%20Wages%20and%20Salaries%20-%20INHOUSE%20MAINTENANCE%20PERSONNEL.htm to the Airline Data Project:

$64,970X.055=$3,573.35 per year

The current IANPP contribution for IAM members at UAL is 6.5% of the base wage. A UAL Mechanics base wage is $31.17 per hour.
$31.17X.065=$2.02 per hour
Full-time hours= 2080X2.02=$4,201.60

So Tim, which is greater, $4,201.60 under the IAMNPP or $3,573.35 under the 5.5% 401k match?
Also, that assumes every UAL Mechanic contributes 5.5% into their 401k and you and I know that's not true.

I agree with you a lot on your analyses of increasing solidarity and using the members as the central power base for attaining gains at the negotiations table, but you really should become more educated regarding the IAMNPP as opposed to other retirement vehicles.

Not sure how reliable that data is, seeing that it says in 2008 a virgin America avg mech made 242,000, or a us air mech made 759,000 in 2001. There are other astronomical amounts on there that we know the average mechanic didn't make, so how can we use any of the data? Also, I don't see where UAL mechanics are offered 6.5% into the iamnpp, are you using a number from the ramp contract? Can't be certain that would carry over to M&R contract.

Just curious.... did you make this sh!t up???

Should any of us really believe any of your figures? Based on the link you provided I would say your numbers are flawed. According to this chart, United mechanics made an average of $134, 850 in 1995 and $307, 347 in 1996. I didn't make anywhere close to that amount.

Further, I do not work at US Air, but is there anyone on this board who made $759,052 in 2001? According to this chart you did.

Nice try dude

Letter from NMB Referencing Case No. R-7365 AA/IBT/TWU

July 20, 2013

Published 19 Jul, 2013

Participants:
On May 28, 2013, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters-Airline Division (IBT) filed an application and authorization cards alleging a representation dispute involving the Mechanics and Related Employees of American Airlines (Carrier). The employees in question are currently represented by the Transport Workers Union (TWU). Also on May 28, 2013, the Carrier filed a List of Potential Eligible Voters (List) and signature samples of the potential eligible voters.
After examining the authorization cards submitted by the IBT, the undersigned directed that IBT and TWU file challenges to the List or objections with regard to any other matters.
On July 18, 2013, the TWU and IBT jointly requested an extension of time to file their challenges and objections. The request is granted and any challenges and objections must be filed with the Board by 4 p.m. ET on July 23, 2013. Responses to challenges or objections, if any, must be filed by 4 p.m., ET, on August 6, 2013. IBT and TWU are reminded that they must incorporate by reference any previously-filed challenges, objections, and supporting data. Failure to incorporate such allegations by reference will result in the Investigators finding those issues are no longer part of the investigation.
Sincerely,

LOL MY BAD 1AA...... Your right I did not see that Movie, I thought you were were talking about THE RED TAILS........

I'll see if I have time to check it out. Next time use a link....I'll bet I was not the only one on here who had the wrong movie at mind.

Have a Nice IBT Day.
I'm curious if you still feel betrayed by the TWU after they got you a contract that included a percentage of stock ownership that now would be worth in the ball park of $16,500. That's about $4.00/hour for two years time. Then when the combined CBA kicks in you will probably get big three wages. But now your screwed because you voted and supported a MAFIA PUPPET organization.

Concessions were taken in Two Bankruptcies. That's because the USAir business model couldn't exist for much longer twice within a 5 year period after 9/11 as a Medium Sized short haul carrier without reducing its costs. Simple math that you should be able to figure out even with a GED. The fact that this company survived at all is a minor miracle IMO and USAir wasn't ever the lowest paid in the Industry until after 9/11. We always mirrored UAL and one day we will be back to that level playing field as the No 1 Carrier in the World.

Thank GOD the IBT is in at UAL setting the wage bar higher and to use your simple math just how many YEARS has it been after 9/11???? OK 12 YEARS AND THE US AIR AND AWA MERGER NOW 7 YEARS....HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP LOSING BEFORE YOU QUIT AND TRY A NEW WAY TO WIN...

VOTE IBT FOR A NEW WAY!!!

HAVE A NICE IBT DAY.

No offense there pal, but when has US Air ever been the number one carrier? I truly do not mean to offend, but US Air has never been an inspiration for other carriers. You have never been a gauge by which to set wage standards. Face the facts. When UA was negotiating our most recent agreement we were compared to Air Tran, Alaska, American, Continental, and Southwest Airlines. US Air did not even make the cut for comparisons. What does it say when a union negotiating team would rather not use you as a comparison? To me it says I seriously need to reevaluate my representative.

Look US Air, if you choose to stay with the same union, you are guaranteed more of the same. If it works for you, have a nice day. If not, consider that UA mechanics have made 18.5 % wage increases since becoming Teamsters. How could your life benefit with 18.5% more each month?

Teamsters

You are so full of crap. I can not believe you work for the airlines. If you do JABK, you must be management. Do you truly expect working men and women will accept stock ownership rather than than actual pay increases? Give me a break. Mafia puppet or not I take pay any day over your BS stock supplements. Give me a break dude.

In the 80's and 90's AA was playing catch up to UAL. AA was always number 3 or 4 in pay and benefits. They always compared us to UAL or TWA or Delta in categories of their choosing. They never stuck to one carrier for a full side by side comparison. Many still do the same today. But UAL was the most frequent one that AA compared too.

And American West was always at the bottom of the airline industry and guess who is going to be running things. The quintessential example of the LCC culture.

The front end pay cuts were to get the company through Bk. The Union TWU protected its members loss on the back end after Bk with stock ownership that equates to real money when the airline emerges and becomes profitable. Jesus you guys really are stupid. The New combined CBA will offer the higher wage rates that will come from the combined carrier. This will be a profitable Carrier when its all said and done.
