RJ 900's for PSA-- REJECTED!

Has there been any solidarity from the Mesa MEC? How about Trans States? Colgan? Sky West? Republic? Get them all to stand shoulder-to-shoulder refusing to fly 900's at any rate below what the PSA pilots offered and you would have something to write about.

Duane Woerth is backing PSA's "no" vote. All ALPA represented express carriers will not undercut PSA. It's election time for Woerth and he is actually showing some spine. As for MESA; they are currently staffed at 3.7 crews per airplane. They need to hire 200 pilots to get their staffing back in balance and suprisingly they can't find qualified applicants. Our only airline to worry about is GoJets, and they just signed up with the Teamsters. Right now GoJets is locked in a battle to raise their CRJ-700 rates. They are not in the mood to lower the bar. And another thing about GoJets -- they are having staffing problems. They can't find enough street captains and they can't upgrade many FOs because they don't meet ATP minimums. The tide is slowly turning in favor of the pilots.

That's because the subsidy of low regional wages has dried up. Pilots are less inclined to put up with low wages and poor work rules just to build experience, to apply for a mainline job with low wages and poor work rules.

Incidentally, Chatauqua is adding the CRJ200 to their certificate...

When Comair was on strike, Mesa had plans in place to open CVG as a base. GoJets locked in a battle? Those guys trampled the Trans States guys in order to take their CRJ700's. There may be staffing problems at the airlines for whatever reason, but that is no substitute for have the integrity to refuse to undercut your fellow pilot. Ask a CoEx or ACA guy about that. Air Wisky could easily operate those CRJ900's with Duane Woerth's signature on the LOA and leaving the PSA guys out in the cold.

The tide maybe turning . But i don't see it in favor of PDT. No RJ'S for Dash Trash!! <_<
What do you expect at PDT? PDT will never be anything but an all-prop operation until the DASH's time out-- somewhere around 2011. Until that time, the only changes that MAY happen would be the addition of more OLD Dash's. There's something to be said for that though; it's the only "Express" plane out there that actually requires piloting skill!

Dash 8 time out??? That piece of iron will be approved for another 60,000 cycles!!!! Its a damn tank!!

All we need to do is give the dash a new paint job and your good for another 40,000. The only problem is that we have to paint over the old scheme because it is the only thing hold all the #### together. And like noted before we will be able to take 20 people and 25 bags. Long lIVe N906HA "The ORIGINAL DASH".

It is still pretty scary considering CHQ/RAH just got 30 big shiny jets that would have made allot of insiders very happy and on task to making US fly and making US a profitable and great airline.

30 jets going to a contractor is not the best way to make your "own" proud and on task. Coke and trinkets don't help much either. I am sorry and I appreciate Tempe trying to make a difference but this is bad practice and detrimental to our long term health as a team moving forward.

Yea! With a payload of 28 passengers and 25 bags

Hmmm, how would going thru another cycle cause a change in weights? It will still be the same old 34/40 on the restrictions.... well unless there's weather!!! Then Free tickets for everyone!!

The program should be called make Psa and Republic Fly. That new program is b*ll ####. They just want us to feel better for a couple of weeks so they can give more flying away.

Bluestreak, I'm with you...these other carriers have no chance in getting the 900s. PSAs in the driver seat, mainline and PSA are going to get a deal done before it's all over. Just offer the pilots something so we can all move forward with this situation: Growth (jets) = Job Security  and thats a good thing if I'm not mistaken. PSAs going to take possession of those jets by the end of the year so it's in everyone's best interest to get this deal done so we can get started with all the training that should've began August 1st

It's a damned shame that the newly combined USAir/AWA contract could not include payrates/work-rules for the CRJ-900.

It is a DC9/F100 replacement. Would've been nice to have those aircraft go to mainline to allow for the recall of some of the 1800+ pilots.

To paraphrase my favorite victim of shiny-jet-syndrome,
"growth (jets) = Job Security and thats a good thing if I'm not mistaken."
