RJ 900's for PSA-- REJECTED!

While we faced this most recent challenge, we were supported by other groups and individuals that deserve our thanks.
The Piedmont MEC and pilot group aided our cause by steadfastly refusing to engage in discussions with their management over these same aircraft. The Piedmont MEC and pilot group, by refusing to enter into a bidding process that could have undermined our position on this proposal, have demonstrated an enormous amount of restraint, cooperation, and understanding of the issues that we collectively face in the Express realm.
The America West MEC has supported our group through their interaction with the highest levels of US Airways Group management and with ALPA, and the US Airways MEC has also provided assistance to our efforts by maintaining a position supporting improved compensation for the operation of this class of aircraft within US Airways Group.
Additionally, Captain Duane Woerth, our Association President, as well as a host of other fine individuals at ALPA, have provided a significant level of political and administrative support for our efforts concerning this initiative.
I thank all of these people, both individually and collectively, for their assistance through this process and for their continued support as we move forward from where we are today.

I haveIn closing, I thank all of you again for your interest, your participation, and your solidarity.

Fraternally,

Mark Stanley
MEC Chairman

Not a clue in what you meant by that comment. Could you explain what you mean in that "PSA/MEC is trying to save face" & "Piedmont is weltering"? <_<

PSA got jet’s Piedmont did not. Piedmont is flying very old and out dated dash-8 Piedmont has been down sizes extremely. PSA is flying new CRJ-200/700 and growing. PSA/MEC cut a deal with US management to fly them for less then Piedmont/MEC was willing too. PSA/MEC took a lot of criticism for there lack of solidarity.

It's funny how the tide can turn. Good things to come for PDT in the near future...supposedly. Dont know whats gonna happen to PSA. I suspect they will settle for a new wage on the 900s. Or.....they will get nothing except losing 200s.

But has the tide really turned in favor of PDT? It only makes sense that the 900s go to PSA because PSA is already equipped to handle the training. It's an all RJ fleet and the 900 is not much different. Also, can anyone tell me what's going on with the negotiations between mainline and PSA for the 900s? Has a deal been reached? Will a deal be reached? and if so...when will a deal be reached?

You sound pretty anxious. Flying a shiny 100 seat jet for a fraction of what DC9 pilots got paid to fly 100 seats 5 years ago sound appealing to you?

Well anxious, no. I do agree that PSA pilots deserve to be compensated for a bigger jet-more responsibility. But would you agree that these jets will provide job security and growth for the airline among other things? How about 1 year upgrades...that's not appealing? Isn't job security a good thing within all the turmoil of the airlines? the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Let's look at the alternative...the jets slip away...and go somewhere else- does the idea of being laid off appeal to anyone? It's going to lead to the worst downward spiral yet for PSA. Hopefully a deal will be reached before its too late

Correct, there are 76 J4Js on the seniority list at PSA, with 62 being active line pilots as of August 7th.

8 are on long term leave, 6 are management/full time instructors.

Just curious....are you one of those yes votes?

Not quite a yes vote, I do express much concern about undercompensated flying. also a yes vote would of set the bar extremely low and would have underminded all other carriers negotiating abilities for more money...so no. But I'm looking at the future of PSA and the 900s are the future of the airline. With that kind of growth comes expansion and from there more revenue equating increased pay for all. Job security is a good thing...anyone hear there's already a RJ-900 engine presently in our hangar.......the jets are on their way

Has there been any solidarity from the Mesa MEC? How about Trans States? Colgan? Sky West? Republic? Get them all to stand shoulder-to-shoulder refusing to fly 900's at any rate below what the PSA pilots offered and you would have something to write about.

With most of them voting yes. To me thats no different then being a scab. Plus PSA is a shitty run and operated airline I hope they go somewhere else.

Is that all? You guys made off like bandits, considering 50% of every position on your property could have been a JFJ pilot.

So in my opinion, you have even less to cry and whine about.

Kids

What mainline negotiations? The negotiating is between PSA Alpa and PSA Management.
