Tim,
Delaney first became employed by United nearly 40 years ago. How can he possibly be in good conscience for what his NC has done to destroy your craft with this concessionary agreement? What motivation did he have to push this thing through? Was he promised an international officer position or something? My point is he must be remarkably out of touch with the members he aspires to serve and likely hasn't done his day job in many, many years. Do these leaders not understand the disastrous implications of these agreements for the members at UA and the labor movement?
Josh
Delaney is 100% corporate. His father was a middle manager at united for 40 years and got both of his sons jobs at united ramp to bring them into management. His one son went into management but pops contacted management friend don wilson, ord iam rep, about moving rich off the ramp shortly after being hired. So rich started making coffee in the committee office and then joined the committee.
His skill set is management and his corporate views have been applied. He is a bean counter. His concern isnt the membership but his organization. He knows if he can push management to the 80% part time levels then he will virtually double the iam membership and double the revenue. The guy is a bow tie and white collar through and through. He is also a grand poo pa in the secret handshake club and has made oaths within the district. Many on his team are forced or pressured to join. I told mh that i have nothing against the particular club but i dont personally join clubs and make secret oaths.

Wirh ua current contract just wait til 2 or 3 yrs and they wont waste any time closing all the cities except their hubs I dont want it to happen and it should not but thats my fear given the damage their doin now. At us I dont think prez or cb or anyone on our nc team will allow that kind of deal to get by

what's to keep Delaney from pulling a Canale and going upstairs with AH and coming back a throwing a tenative agreement on the table and saying this is what it is?

Since you have been out of the iam, the iam changed its dues structure. There isnt anymore dispensation for lower wage earners.

Wind down? What a bunch of arses in management. I hope guys like johnny k and the rest had opportunity to keep full time somewhere. Cvg as well i see. United management is taking full advantage of unrestricted part time and pegged 750 rampers to either lose ft or take furlough in its first phase of what it calls "rightsizing". It sent out a letter crying that it lost $400 million in the last quarter as a result of missing its projected profit of $1.2 billion. Amazing how corporate greed can justify hammering loyal employees after making $800 million in a quarter. This is also where i become incredibly frustrated with this inept union leadership. Where is the outrage? Why hand over unrestricted part time and hammer your own members?

The iam141 union leaders are either corporate type bean counters who realize two part time members is double the membership and revenue of one full time member or they are intellectually mismatched in wit. Stupid s man. Really stupid s .
Thankfully members arent stupid and a strong opposition team too over the local leaderships in sfo and ord, and the strong opposition candidates dominated the ewr elections yesterday. If delaneys group of management passivists get 20% of the district vote at united next year i will be shocked.

Delaney wont be able to have anyones back who was riding his coattail.
Tim,

You aren't political at all? You are just being honest with the membership with comments above? I'm an adult, please do tell me and everybody where you think I fit in above, since you aren't political and just want to inform the membership.

If they put a big enough worm on the hook you'd be surprised what people will bite.

You see it with every TA, it doesn't change.People run right to compensation section and stop.

With the IAM the devil apparently really IS in the details.

Christ they've gotten UAL to willingly fall on their swords.

The former TWA "IAM Evangelists" we have at AA have gone silent again since the blood letting began at UAL.

Personally, based on what I've read in the UA contract and on this board, I am underwhelmed by the IAM and have to say, I'm really leery of having them jointly negotiate/administer a CBA.

What is mind boggling to me is after Randy Canale the damage he did at UA/US and now Delaney's regime why won't the DL 141 membership demand accountability from their officers and AGCs? Like most other things is it simply apathy among the membership?

Josh

JFK I share your concerns as well, though when I look the TWU and comments I see on the AA board I can't have much confidence in them either.

how about a loud resound rejection of that type deal and or possible elections to remove him out of office?

I agree robbed , however that rejection thing didnt work out so well the last time.

Rez,
Follow your conscience . Who cares where you fit in. Don't lose the Bottom Line. Thats what you should be doing. If you feel Tims comments apply to you then so be it. If it doesn't then so be it. The job at hand. Thats what is important. Stay out of the politics for now. There is a " Reclaim " in our future. Lets get to "Gettin ".

Tim,

I support our UA members in good times and bad. As for the TA, only saw highlight sheet, haven't read it. My focus has been on US members and our negotiations.

My post was to point out that you are political, not just informing members.
