To all usairways peeps

Please please please dont allow our district leadership to beat you down and F our peeps up.

Please pay attention to what happened and what is happening at united. I have no problem saying that our district eboard is made up of ignorant whores who voted unanimously to not only F our membership at united but also defraud the members by bs of full time committment and 98% guarantees.

The reality of the situation is that members are being informed this week that full time jobs are toast.

Many rampers are affected. Instead of posting it all here, ill just post the phl numbers at united.
Today 90 ft. 30 pt
February 9
40 laid off. 40 pt 40 ft.

The hubs are going to be rightsized announcement next week

United had record profits and it was wrong for this district leadership to absolutely eff over hal and united and dont think these pricks wont do it to us if the masses dont stick together.
Tim,
I'm sure you would agree that you get what you vote for. This applies to District leadership but more importantly to TAs. The membership at UA is getting what they voted for. The district is witnessing the carnage of what they agreed to at UA. You can bet the wolf (US) is at the door regarding our current negotiations. The Association being assigned their own district seems to be a viable option for the former US IAM and AA TWU represented members. In the meantime; we must educate the membership not to be led astray of what is truly important in our future negotiations. What's occuring at UA is the direct result of disregarding the lack of scope, among other issues, in a TA and voting for the hourly wage and retro. pay. If our membership does not learn from history they are destined to repeat it.

Boy Josh, you sure are in the know when it comes to tossing around names of people within the IAM. With you being a banker what gives here?
I am knowledgeable of the structure and officials of the IAM at various levels.

Tim do you see the new elections and allegations of fraud in the GL elections as am opportunity to rebuild the IAM? What do you think of Jay Cronk and Karen Asuncion as new leaders? 141 needs serious help, Sito says he is very fond of that district and many people get promoted from 141. Hopefully the membership will demand change after the awful UA CBA and RIFs start coming in. When will the first station closings begin of the stations TA allows to be closed?
Josh
I support jay and karen for intl offices but i have to focus on our district and make sure the membership isnt pimped like at united, since this merger is now a go.

As far as district, i think the plan is to try to keep delaneys team from getting their 4 needed nominations.

I sense a slight wind of proposed DL 141 change coming. I sense another hotly contested nomination and election process.

And I'll bet ORD will get "rightsized"... They will get hit hard.
I don't know the numbers of my station yet. We are having a Q & A here, but I don't know how many will be downgraded (or furloughed) since we had them earlier this year, and are ratio of F to P is not like ORD.

They voted for this (mainly ORD & IAH). We didn't (EWR). LOA #5 means nothing. Tim explained it but no one would listen. Some people wanted their money.

T5 it sounds like those who voted for it did what hp folks did in 08 by lookin at the money and giving up a lot of scope

So did Judas. Blood money.

The retro is supposed to come Monday (16th) ..... along with the furlough / downgrade letters that day as well!

T5 how would you describe the overall tone at UA now? Obviously things are negative but would say most are frustrated with IAM/141 or with UA for the poorly executed merger, financial performance and need for these cuts? I ask because my understanding is these cuts are related to adjustments in the flight schedule not the larger scale reductions in force, downgrades and station closings the recent CBA enables, correct?

Jeff promised the shareholders a savings of 2 billion dollars for the coming 2014 year.
That's what is is in a nutshell. They keep comparing us to DL and the mistakes from the top has the company underperforming. Also the required numbers were not got from the ramp. So that's why they need 200 more jobs. But the downgrades was unexpected.

People were also sold on LOA #5. The Full Time Commitment Letter. Tim explained it to myself and a few others who knew it was crap. Now people are feeling it bite them back. Nothing is said about LOA #6 yet. Don't know when or if the insourcing will take place. Now it depends on the Early Out; COLA (which has to be guaranteed that the person taking it will come back at their present pay/status - when we had it at sCO, it worked well and saved a lot of jobs, and that senior person came back when needed, which would usually be in 3-4 months when the summer schedule comes up); or a FT person taking a temporary downgrade with a 400.00 a month stipend. The EO has to be better for people to leave. But there is so much distrust with the union, people don't know when of if to take these options like the temp downgrade or COLA. And have their job when they come back. We will know shortly. Hopefully it would save some positions and jobs.
This is all supposed to take place effective Feb. 9.

Personally, I won't be feeling good about this. I don't have that much money coming to me like sUA.

That's really not good. People are already remorseful about the new CBA it seems. Again have they given any notification on station closing a as a result of the new CBA? I'd imagine they are actively taking bids and will not waste anytime outsourcing what they will be allowed to.

Josh

No. Not yet. The first six is already done. I don't know if any of those furloughed transfered into a hub (ORD) or not. Those 200 who are getting furloughed are probably people who can't bump into any station with their seniority. But for the downgraded people, no lists available to hold FT yet. Maybe in the letter that people will get on Monday will have further info on what's available and options.

I haven't heard anything about further closures yet.

I guess one the seniority lists are final (January 15th per Javits), then it's on. Once the final numbers are in for the EO's; COLAS; and Temp Downgrades are done, then I guess they will know whats available once the "rightsizing" is done. Then they will go after the next smaller stations. But hopefully this isn't final just yet.

Outsourcing will certainly come to pass. The agreement / contract allows it in all but the mentioned stations. The process of taking bids from vendors takes some time; but you can rest assurred UA will get it done. With a green light from the union and the membership they would be foolish not to. The hits are going to keep coming at UA; thanks in large part to the district's TA and the subsequent ratification by the membership.
