I just don't know why our District leadership and chief negotiator has refused to stop kissing management A in whatever negotiations he is in. Even the TWU realizes to boycott pizza or whatever it is. Again, our District leader has refused to do this at United and thus far is staying out of it at US AIRWAYS. I know some say, "It needs to start with the rank and file". Bull S. It should start with the District leadership, "officially' on a webpage. Not on facebook or here.cltrat said:that would require him to undock his lips from Richs backside.
Tim,Tim Nelson said:It isn't about me Pat. It's about our people. Quite frankly, our people have been screwed over like forever. If you share a different opinion then that's fine.
I don't think anyone is asking or has been asking for unfair wage gains but what our union leadership did in 2008 was wrong. Canale paid the price for it but our people are still living it. What the current leadership at United did to the United members was wrong last month. 7 stations in the ramp contract with scope is just ridiculous, especially with no full time commitments. Flat out wrong. It was wrong when Delaney gave up on sUA talks and it was wrong when he agreed to the cross fleeting and it was wrong when he signed off on TA1. Yes, corporate America is attacking but it doesn't mean our union leaders lay a goose egg or agree to contracts with ridiculous scope, then point to other industries or other contracts and use that to beat us down. Our contract is about Parker and our people. Plus nothing, minus nothing.P. REZ said:Tim,
Our members have had difficult times over the years but it is not an IAM thing. Just look everywhere and Unions have been being attacked by Corporate America. It's not like every Union worker in the U.S. has been getting big pay raises except for IAM members. This has been and will continue to be an attack on Unions until we all come up with a game plan to reverse the trends.

I agree... won't be seeing me line-up for free Management grub from this PHX operation. I find this dichotomy of treating ramp like crap and then being nice around the holidays to be a rather nauseating combination of lemonheads and marzipan. Much like feeding the homeless around Christmas, and hoping they don't bother us for food the rest of the year.On Monday in PHX they'll be having sweets and cocoa to commemorate the merger of AA and US and everyone's invited...which is kind of surprising to me since their stance on negotiations has made it clear they're not all that enthusiastic to have us as a part of the New American, contrary to their sugary, happy claims.
I don't want cookie crumbs, I want a new contract, so I can't see going to their celebration.
What a great post.ograc said:I find this whole idea of food and drinks being provided to the employees of both US and AA, to celebrate the official merger of the two airlines, somewhat insulting, deceitful and insincere. This opinion is based on the company's refusal to reach meaningful contracts with the IAM MTC. & Related and Fleet Service at US. They want to create the impression this merger will be good for everyone, yet behind closed contract negotiations doors, their posture and apparent agenda is quite the opposite. The company would like us all to eat the food and drink the kool aid. They insult the intellegence and resolve of the US IAM represented members. They know what it will take to create labor peace with this merger yet it appears, through the lack of progress in negotiations, they're not interested. This "let them eat cake" approach demonstrates a lack of respect for the US IAM represented members' concerns on the part of DP. It reflects a US management team that is oblivious to the condition of the IAM represented at US. It reflects a blatant lack of appreciation of the sacrifices made, by both groups in the past, that helped keep US solvent. I believe both groups hunger, not for free food provided by the company, but for meaningful contracts. I believe both groups thirst, not for free drinks and kool aid, but for acknowledgment of past sacrifices and appropriate reparation. Until we get there they can keep the refreshments... I have no appetite for what they're offering. Lock and Load!

Yet in my group, there will be many that race down there with drool dripping from their mouth like my dogs, and they couldn't even tell you what an alliance means.
Oh the apathy.
They don't have to encourage or discourage word of mouth from one another is the best way. I'm sure the company would see the unions involvent at this time as interference. Hell, its just good old fashion " Stick-it!! DP and other AA/US management can keep saying this merger will provide new opportunities and benefits to employees but until they can negotiate in good faith and get you a good contract I agree completely.
I have to ask-are the local and district lodge officials discouraging people from attending or has it just been a common sentiment among people around the system?
