Negotiations........why?

They still have major issues to settle between the two unions. Seniority is one of them. If they rush this through we will see more articles labeled TBD at a later date. Your association at work for the best interest of the ____________. I'm not sure what goes in the blank anymore.

We have major seniority issues. Imagine a 25 yr guy having to bid after a 10 yr guy because the 10 yr guy has been a crew chief longer. So the 10 yr guy gets day shift and the 25 yr guy may end up on midnights. Is that what seniority is about? You punish the 25 yr guy because he is a crew chief for 3 yrs vs the 10 yr guy who has been a crew chief for 5 yrs. The other issue is title groups. AA has them and USAIR does not. Problems with layoffs and bumping between work groups needs to be sorted out. Many other issues still need to be worked out before we can move on as one group. You can't put together a proposal when some parts of it only apply to one group or another. One union, one voice should have, would have, could have been the correct approach. But now we all suffer because of the greediness of the TWU, IAM and the AFL-CIO. Currently the company is making money but for how long? In the meantime we as members of this newly, untested formed association is keeping us on the sidelines waiting.

Definitely a sticky issue, and I agree that its something that needs to be resolved ASAP...

Not necessarily , maybe the crew chiefs in his area were always senior to him.
Total seniority should rule the day.

Maybe. In that case, he could've always transferred to establish lead time; that's what I did.

There is merit to using DOH across the board. Classification & Percentile integration as well. In the end, I suppose it comes down to which method will negatively impact the least number of people. I'm still a fan of classification time, but have gotten used to DOH...

Over two years since the MOU was signed. Are the lists integrated yet? And where
might one get a copy of the integrated seniority lists if they are published? Thx.

Too many seniorities. I believe in true seniority. The longer you have worked for a company the better off you should be.

I have to disagree with you. Being a stock clerk or fleet service clerk for 15 yrs and then you move over to aircraft maintenance and start bumping guys in bidding is wrong. Company time for vc has been a established practice. No arguments there. Imagine me being in Aircraft Maintenance for 10 years working on my pilots license and then get hired in flight and I bump guys out of the left seat with 10 yrs of aircraft maintenance time. We have many guys that transitioned over to flight but started at the bottom with flight except vc picks. No different with fleet or stock clerk transitioning over as well.

So why can't company time be good for anything more than vacation? If I get tired of turning wrenches for 40 years and want to go push a broom for the last 5 years of my career why should my 40 years of tenure with the company not account for anything but vacation?  i.e. shifts and days off?

No it doesn't. You do know the difference between integrated and implemented!
 
Do you know of a list of integrated seniorities?

Yes I know but the issues with crew chief classification needs to be settled among the unions before we merge the two seniorities into one. Like I said we have several issues to sort out before we can merge the list as one.
