More Groups Wanting To Fire The TWU

No matter what they give us, it will never make up for the losses we endured. It will never make up for those people who defaulted on some debt payments, the old cars that had to be driven beyond their useful life, the vacations that were put off....
We at AA have given plenty back. With the help of the TWU, we gave them a BK contract without BK,,,,,Then in BK we gave them had taken from us even more.
Both horrible but I'm also not going to be obsessed by it. And I lost quite a bit myself.

i say TAKEN FROM US because the TWU has always been more than willing to help the company at the expense of the members.
And no one is obsessing, just constant reminders of contracts past.

Both comments are subjective. On the first one you guys feel you're obsession is the TWU and you're riding the back of the whale. For me I feel your obsession is AMFA and you could wind up riding the back of the whale. Either way it would be your destiny if you ever found your way to it. Not mine but I do find it interesting so why I comment about it on this open forum.

Second part I know the story all too well. Read it multiple times with multiple perspectives and anyone who comments on it is going to skew it to the way they feel the story goes. That too is always subjective and the reason very simply I don't want to get into it.

Nothing personal on that but it's a conversational merry go round that never ends. I just don't see the point in getting into another one of those endless debates that will still probably be going on even after I've turned to dust.

As your position on the matter is just as subjective as the next persons, I find it interesting that while claiming to not wanting to be involved in the "conversational merry go round" you still end up spending alot of time on the ride.

And over and over and over and over and over year after year after year it's explained to you that you kept more jobs than the rest.

More jobs comes at a cost. It's a cost you obviously prefer didn't exist but it did and does.

Ignoring it doesn't change that story either.

The jobs were lost anyway.  Poorly played by the TWU.  Never believe that lie again..

I'm guessing you mean that Bankruptcy gun where the mugger said "Give me your job protection"

We ALL got mugged.

On a side note.

DALLAS, May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines and the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) 550, which represents the Company's Meteorologists, announce they have reached a tentative agreement on the group's first-ever contract.  Terms of the four-year deal include adjusted wage-scale step increases, as well as opportunities for bonuses that are linked to individual and Company performances.

"Hats-off to TWU 550 for working so hard, and so quickly, to strike a fair balance between the needs of their members and the needs of the Company," said Senior Director Labor Relations Gerry Anderson.

"It is an exciting time for TWU Local 550 as this is our first foray into organizing," said TWU 550 President Mike Connor.  "For our Company to embrace our Meteorologists as a collective bargaining unit tied to the Dispatchers opens a new frontier of collaboration in planning our flights safely and efficiently with more concise weather knowledge. Our Meteorologists will be able to proactively and directly interact with the Dispatchers. This will prove to be a major asset to our Customers, our Company, and our operations, especially with our new direction into International service."

The agreement carries an amendable date of June 1, 2019, and is subject to membership ratification.

More jobs comes at a cost "A loaf of bread costs the same for everyone brother".

It's a cost you obviously prefer didn't exist but it did and does except for the appointed TWu International, it then "negotiates" contracts it doesn't live under. It takes insane $250,000+yr  salary for its unelected top TWu dictator and $150,000yr for just a Don V play doll called a sexratary.  It's company unionism is legendary, never in history has a single union done so much damage to the airline industry than the Totally Worthless Union.  Record setting concessions for 30 years for its beleaguered membership, but never for it's untouchable and unelected International.  Just like a rogue corporation.

Ignoring it doesn't change that story either. That is certainly the case. The TWu's "concessions for jobs" was a total failure.

Your obsessed to be sure, but more possessed by a TWu dream of being anointed to a TWu International stooge who polishes the brass knob . Seen it far too many times with the TWu blind, "I'm gonna be in the bright lights and the big city, in the TWu pity"

Isn't that a strange phenomenal predicament he's in? TSH? Spends a huge amount of time arguing with some airline workers that he isn't a part of, selling his failed TWu Company Union wares to persons he will never be voting with.  Sounds like a paid TWu stooge attempting to stop the bleeding no?  Except this TWu patient died about 30 years ago, dead and gone.....long ago.

Very nice. The TWu Company union does a luke warm job for rampers, F/As, Vegas Card Dealers.  Why do they fail so miserably everywhere else?

In overall total value compensation for the groups for a while after all the other airlines went through BK after our 03 concessions, yes.

Right now that's not the case because the industry has finally started to pay some of those losses back. When we get to that point we'll also be at least on par with the industry.
Really?  We look great because all the other airlines went thru BK?  Man you are true TWU lover...

Yes, the TWU did do that indeed.  They agreed to ALL concessions to avoid the BK threats from both the company as well as the TWU, then later the company filed for BK and went back for even more and more concessions while in BK. Bob himself as well as I warned everyone not to fall for the BK threat, let them file for the BK and then let the courts deal it all out.  AA along with the TWU was very successful in double dipping from the TWU and mechanics.  Not including all the job losses, wages lost, bennies lost, ot pay, sick pay, holidays, vacation, etc...  Pathetic representation for the last several decades. Time for a change guys, have you all had enough yet???

Why is it that all of your posts lately seem like they smack of desperation? You even have had posts in all CAPS screaming for our mechanics to join your group (SWA AMFA)

Are you sensing a possible storm coming and are afraid that your group may not be able to weather it? (Remember I read the updates) Having strength in numbers absolutely could help if there was solidarity when one group needed the other and that could be coming soon for you guys?

The reality as I see it (And I think you do too) is that you need the AA Maintenance group more than they need you. Today is the last day that those cards need to be boxed up and shipped out. By a rough estimate that means North of 7000 cards had to be done? Did they get all those US people? The related groups? The ones on layoff with recall rights? Will there be an announcement made tomorrow which I will congratulate your friends on if I hear it?

Swamt have you seen this article? Is the clock ticking for you?

(Reuters) - The pilots union at Southwest Airlines Co <LUV.N> on Tuesday announced staffing and funding for a committee to prepare pilots and the flying public for a walkout, in case it cannot reach a contract deal with management in coming months.
The new strike preparedness committee will work with outside consultants and others in the union, the Southwest Airlines Pilots' Association (SWAPA), said in a news release.

The union filed for the National Mediation Board (NMB) to oversee contract talks in November after negotiations had dragged on for more than three years. The latest round of talks began in February.

Somebody's shouting
Up at a mountain
Only my own words return
Nobody's up there
It's a deception
When will I ever learn?

I'm alone here
With emptiness eagles and snow
Unfriendliness chilling my body
And whispering pictures of home

Wondering blindly
How can they find me
Maybe they don't even know
My body is shaking
Anticipating
The call of the black footed crow...

I'm alone here
With emptiness eagles and snow
Unfriendliness chilling my body
And taunting with pictures of home

Here in this prison
Of my own making
Year after day I have grown
Into a hero
But there's no worship
Where have they hidden my thrown...

I'm alone here
With emptiness eagles and snow
Unfriendliness chilling my body
And screaming out pictures of home

What could make the current Southwest union struggle and potential job action a tipping point moment for organized labor is if all the airline unions coordinate on strike support for all SWA employees. The fact that almost all unions at SWA are in negotiations for years during unprecedented and continuous profits is a good time to take the company on. Us as well at AA. The TWU/IAM have a good hand to pay and supporting our brothers and sisters at SWA will go a long way as we work towards to a JCBA.
