First of all there has to be an election. The current IAM contract will remain in effect either way.

But why are you dodging the issues?

If a election was held and the IBT won the IAM contrct would not be effect.

i havent told a lie i just believe IAM will or has done anybetter i guess it better to stay with IAM with bad pay poor benifits and so call job security or maybe teamsters with ok pay and benifits and some job security but in reality IAM much better and dont worry teansters have alread agreed to give you all your seniority that you worked hard for.you guys will still get the best of everyting

First of all there will only be an election if there are enough cards signed and then only will either union stay on the property if 50%+1 of all eligble voters which includes all furloughed members.

And the last time I checked the IAM does not furlough anyone the company makes those decisions.

And a furloughed IAM member cannot displace an active employee they can only fill an opening if their seniority permits.

Instead of ranting, take the time and educate yourself on how things are and how they can happen, ask questions.

You are not correct.

The IAM contract would remain in effect and even the Teamsters acknowledged that on their web page.

When AMFA won at NWA, the IAM contract remained in effect until a new one was negoatiated.

When AMFA won at UAL the IAM contracted remained in effect until concessions were taken in bankrutpcy.

When AMFA won at WN the IBT contract remained in effect.

Don't let the facts get in your way.

It is called taking the time over the years to be educated and being involved.

I know about the cards that have to be sign to have vote. I was just let you know that if the IBT would win the IAM contract is not be in effect.

you don't think we're aware of that?
you could get your wish as theres enough disgruntled with IAM to do it.

700, How long do you think it will take to negotiate a new contract that will cover all maintence employees ?

The way it was explained to me was, if 35% filled out cards and if the IBT won the majority vote of the required election, (50% + 1 of eligible membership must vote), the IBT would be the controlling contract for HP and the IAM would remain the controlling contract for U until the IBT and company came up with a new all inclusive contract. From what I understand HP is now working under an expired contract and in the process of negotiating a new one. If this is not correct than please let me know as we have been hearing alot of this and that's.

I also was told the 800+ current IBT covered employee's would be counted toward the 35% required for the election automatically.

If the IBT is not 35% of US then they would have to sign cards.
