First of all there has to be an election. The current IAM contract will remain in effect either way.

But why are you dodging the issues?

SO YOU THINK IAM HAS OR WILL DO BETTER I KNOW TEAMSTER CONTRACT IS PERFECT THAT I WILL ADMIT AND I HAVENT HAD MUCH TIME TO STUDY YOUR AWSOME CONTRACT BUT IT STICKS I MY MIND THE SICK DAY ISSUE, I MEAN REALLY HOW MANY PEOPLE GET HOSPITALIZE WHEN CALLING IN SICK AND HOW MANY YEARS DO YOU HAVE TO WORK TO GET 3 WEEKS VACATION

Lets see where does HP do its heavy maintenance?

Answer: It does not, Timco in Macon, GA does the 737s and 757s and TACA in San Salvador does the A320 Family Aircraft.

Where does US do its heavy maintenance?

Answer: US overhauls all its A320 Family in PIT and 50% of the 737s are done in CLT. Up until the second bankruptcy final offer contract was ratified all the A330, 767 and 757 were done in-house, now they are going to be done by ACTS.

Scope is the most important issue of a contract, no scope, no jobs.

11 Completed years is 3 weeks vacation.

Yes and the sick thing sucks, but we have taken three rounds of concessions in less then two years and had a contract abrogated by the bankruptcy court and voted in a final offer that still preserved some heavy maintenance.

so you say IAM is better, I have been with hp for over six years I have 3 weeks vacation and nobody has been laid off til the other day when we became us airways seem like pretty good job security til now

Well I have been here for 17 years.

Your company outsources all heavy maintenance US does A320 in-house and 50% of the 737s, those mean jobs, if US went to the HP way of doing maintenance another 1,300 mechanic would be laid-off.

There is no such thing as job security in aviation.

I guess since you never been through the hard times like US employees have you would not understand that.

Understand this Scope means jobs, no scope equals no jobs.

And before the first two rounds of concessions three weeks vacation was accrued after five years of completed services.

ok you win i am tired of hearing this answer Your company outsources all heavy maintenance US does A320 in-house and 50% of the 737s, those mean jobs, if US went to the HP way of doing maintenance another 1,300 mechanic would be laid-off.

The IAM has all ready done better.

We use to have industry leading contracts till the after effects of 9/11.

Just compare the scope language and you will get your answer.
