700 dude!

Talk about don't let the facts get in your way. My new US Airways brotheren. Pleasee go back and read Dererts post again. Teamsters reps are negotiating to keep the heavy checks in house. And common, the IAM US Airways contract locks you in until 2009. Open your eyes. Even if we go Teamsters, we can always go back to IAM representation at the end of the Teamsters contract by vote if they don't do us right.

Wake up 700 and quit being blinded by the "I AM IAM" mentality when they really haven't done much for you.

Randy,

Please explain to me how you would get back pay, vacation and holidays if not matter what union the group chooses the IAM contract will still remain in effect, even your IBT has said that.

And the IAM did not give it away, we have been through three rounds of concessions and two bankruptcies if you did not know that.

And Scope language is more important, you do NO heavy maintenance in-house while we do all the A320 family and 50% of the 737s.

Don't let the facts get in your way.

dude the concern here that you aren't aware of is apathy at U......sure you'll get a strong vote from disatisfied IAM members but what you should really be concerned about is the amount who will not vote...resulting in a very likely scenario of no union representation.take it to the bank. ;) ;)

B) Ive been following this for a while and cant take anymore,so I did go get the facts.
1. your asking U mechanics that are not working on a/c gse plant maint etc to vote them selves another pay cut per the current IBT contract,in hopes of getting it back later, haha.
2.Why vote IBT and let them negotiate bringing work in house, when the IAM has already taken this to court and won,no brainer here.
Seems like my thoughts are Ill keep the pay and seniority I have 15 plus yrs,and wait and see if the work does come in house,if not at least I didnt vote myself a new pay cut to find out.And even if the IBT did bring it in house would the non AMT's get the same pay as AMT's I dought it.
The more of your old contract I read the more it looks like the old BRANIFF contract that the IBT brought in around 1986...It did its best to keep all the mechanics as seperate from each other as it could,no chance for anyone to better himself in the company, all pro company.
Have you guys told your gse and plane maint folks how big a raise they will get if they take the IAM contract.Seems to me like a lot of B>S is going on.

The pay diference between GSE and the A&P's is one of the issues that is before us in the current negociations and we are working to close the gap. Our GSE personel are aware of the task ahead in that area and are involved in the negociations. And as far as the work coming in house your current contract keeping the work in house would be in effect untill a new contract is negociated for all US Airways Mechanics. Do you think the contract would be ratified if it did not keep that work or bring GSE wages up to the proper standard. We are well aware of the challanges ahead as we return to the table today and next week. The Teamsters are in the process of amending the contract we are not locked in through 2009.

GSE needs to be brought up in wages - I fail to see how the IAM would be a pay increase for Aircraft Maintanence since we make more than you in our current contract that is being amended. It in not the Teamsters that has a history of wage concessions.

Really?

Teamsters Overwhelmingly Ratify Agreement With Continental Airlines

And your IBT contract has no scope language for heavy mtc and your former IBT contract at WN let WN farmout all 75% of all heavy mtc.

And last time I checked the IAM was faced with two bankruptcies at US in less then two years.

Hoffa blocks car haulers strike, accepts concessions

Teamsters Offering Baywatch Concessions

And lets not forget during the 90s when NWA almost filed bankruptcy the IBT who represented the Flight Attendants at NWA at the time took concessions.

Shall I continue?

Dude
How many times have you seen that happen. Getting rid of a union is next to impossible.

And don't forget under the IBT at NWA the Flight Attendants did not get a raise for a ten year period.

One local is not the whole organization, and your substandard scope language is the worst concession you can take.

Let's get one thing straight - we did not give up the heavy checks, that was gone long before we became Teamsters and we have been bringing that work back every chance we get. Since becoming Teamsters we have gotten our back shops up and running offering more employment for our people. If your scope is so great then why was all the back shop equipment just auctioned off. As you like to say so often -

Do Not Let the FACTS get in the way

AWA CONTRACT you need to stop arguing with 700u he is a hard core IAM person he would give them up no matter what also he isnt even a mechanic i always ask him what he does and he plays games wont come out and say what he does, i think he has some cushey IAM union job and is afraid if IBT wins he will have to go work for a living, so 700u what do you do at useless air

My choice is not to fill out a card. At least we know what we have with the our IAM contract. How about the IBT sick time accural, 320 hours vs 1200 for IAM. Union dues IBT 2 1/2 x base plus $3.00 per month for strike fund. And IBT's idea of seniority merging with 10% thresholds and 25% seniority credit. What kind of improvements do you think you would get barginning with the largest low cost carrier.............if I have some wrong info here please let me know.
