Machinists Union Merger Update

My choice is not to fill out a card. At least we know what we have with the our IAM contract. How about the IBT sick time accural, 320 hours vs 1200 for IAM. Union dues IBT 2 1/2 x base plus $3.00 per month for strike fund. And IBT's idea of seniority merging with 10% thresholds and 25% seniority credit. What kind of improvements do you think you would get barginning with the largest low cost carrier.............if I have some wrong info here please let me know.

Question: Is it correct, as alleged by the IAM, that US Airways mechanics risk a loss of seniority under IBT policies? Is the rumor true that the IBT will insist on dovetailing the seniority list?

Answer: NO. As the IBT stated previously, we expect seniority integration to be based on date of hire with no further furloughs because of the merger.

You get paid 50% sick pay for the first five days unless hospitalized then you get 100% pay.

Please show me where in the IAM/US Mechanic and Related contract where you say we get no pay for the first day.

Don't let the facts get in your way.

And to AWA Contract, when you bring in the heavy mtc let me know since Doug signed a new contract with TACA and Timco to do all of HPs heavy mtc.

IBT or IAM outsourcing is the new fact of life, and judges can and will overule and change your petty little agreement if there is one about outsourcing

You really need to educate yourself.

The IAM has been down that road with a judge outside of bankruptcy and won. Then a Appeals Court sent it to arbitration, which once again the IAM won.

Our Scope language has been tested and won by the union.

I take it you don't understand that since you don't have the scope language to overhaul your own airplanes.

Don't let the facts get in your way.

B737 MECHANIC,

All you can ever boast about regarding the IBT Contract at HP is benefits.

Sure benefits and full pay while sick , better vacation rules are nice...but all that won't amount to dried monkey manure if the IBT contract forces hundreds of Mechanic and Related out the door for good.

If you are in fact a true "Trade Unionist" in its classic sense?...the name of the game is keeping the most amount of people employed...and as much work "in-House" as our shakey situation allows.

Yes....the IAM has sustained its fair share of job losses and benefit reductions at the old U....but the name of the game is to keep as many old HP and old U people drawing a check on a week to week basis....and your current IBT contract is far from superior in that aspect alone.

Your contract may work for you , based on your level of senority at present...but going forward in a combined workforce world....it will spell doom and gloom for a lot of people that you call friends and co-workers now.

Vacation benefits and a few issues on short term sick days be damned...I want to be able to look at far more workers in the face...and know I voted for the beneft of the greater masses as opposed to only voting for what happens to work for me as an individual all of the time.

Your IBT talks about bringing work in-house is just that...TALK. Doug has signed up to continue giving your work away...and voting with the IBT will not abrogate the contracts with any third party vendor..or absolve the New U of the money associated with those third party contracts.

The IAM has language that is now written in stone that secures all Airbus Narrow Body work and 50% of all the B-737-300/400 work to be performed "in-house" without those salient details and bonified facts...hundreds of AMT's and related workers are going to be shown the door....care to dispute those un-self-serving facts?

i agree with youon most of the issues you statedbut i am will to bet outsourcing going to happend anyways no matter which union in charge, dougie will get his lawyers and find a way out that stuff can always be overturned and whichever union is around they will get the blame

Read this slowly.

The IAM Language has been tested in court and by an arbitrator and the IAM won.

Can you comprehend that fact?

US is out of bankruptcy, they no longer have the process to abrogate the labor contractt.

Can you understand that fact?

The only tools that "Dougie" has to use against the IAM Contract and its scope is this.

(1) Fear Mongering....that you obviously subscribe to.
(2) Trip 1 into BK for the new combined company
(3) Willfull Concessions that nobody in their right mind will fall for again.
(4) Liquidation of the new combined airline.

Short of any of the above....The IBT Contract is a nail in the coffin of the greater amount of Unionized Laborers at the New U...and the IAM will likely bring back jobs in PIT , CLT and create job openings in PHX at a minimum.

Again...unless this whole arguement is about YOU Yourself...and a few nifty perks?
Then you are betting against the futures of your fellow workers...and thinking only about yourself. This is not what being a "Trade Unionist" is all about.
