So you two support paying someone $23 an hour to pick up a few gum wrappers, and to fold a few blankets?
the same exact way i support you getting 20+ an hour vs 8 at a vendor.

I will always support higher paying jobs and the least amount of outsourcing.

I damn sure am not going to sit here and wish others lost their jobs because I do like the work. You couldn't pay me to work the ramp but i get pissed every single time an airline outsources the ramp.

you playing the "I got mine" game plays right into managements hands.

I support good paying careers. Period. Not for nothing, your cleaners should be doing far more than what you've listed...

You seem to shoulder this unwavering commitment to save the world from unemployment and the underemployed. But in truth you would vote yes to job cuts for better pay. This is called "self preservation." It is also instinctual. In life the smart ones feed off the stupid ones, figure out which one you are. Outsourcing is inevitable and withing the next 5-10 years, the only stations TWU/IAM will have is DFW, LAX, ORD, JFK, and MIA. But rest assured this is happening ALL over the world, with any company that has employees. We are just about 3 years from the congressional hearings that approved the merger with AA/US. Lets see if Doug's and Tom's promises hold true in the near future. Again you are just fooling yourself by saying "Yes I would sacrifice better pay to save jobs."  .. You would vote yes for money in exchange of less head count.

Far from the mark. Self preservation and the Me, Me, Me attitude you portray plays right into the company's hand. Representation of 5 stations within a global carrier... good luck with that! That's right where the company would like you to be 5-10 years from now. So who is really the stupid one? The company continues to play the stupid ones. Take a look at the carnage left behind at UA while members voted for the money. Same strategy... contract after contract. Attitudes, such as the one you display, play right into the company's long term goals. Eliminate represented jobs, reduce leverage at the bargaining table, dictate a general reduction in wages and benefits in future contracts, as a result of the loss of this representation, and hope that the stupid continue to take the "self preservation" attitude and money you seem to endorse.

No it wont.....and can't happen.
There isn't a dividing issue like "retro" to complicate issues.
This is completely different, which leaves you guys in a much better position. Of course, the company can and will throw money at you, (and some would probably bite), but you have witnessed before your eyes what happens when you do so. Having that scope is worth it's weight in gold, and no amount of money can change that. If people want to leave, then negotiate packages that will leave them with a certain amount of respect and dignity. But the people who want to remain, that scope will preserve their careers.

Sure it can happen here. When the folks with attitudes like bob@lasdfw become the majority (not to far away) then you will see the tide turn. If there are any positives to it, folks who normally have these views are folks with seniority dates such as bob of 2008 and those guys will vote themselves out of a job. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Couldn't agree more.

The bigger question is WHY did the IAM leadership bring a POS contract to the membership to vote ? let be rephrase that. Why did the IAM leadership allow a 2nd vote on a POS contract ?

The members at UA voted down the first TA, surveys were conducted and they wanted money and retro over scope.

They voted on it, it was their choice.

But you know this and always want to portray the IAM as bad, yet the IAM fleet CBA at US s the best in the industry, just like the IAM CBA for RES and CSA at WN is also the best, better than your CWA CBA at US.

But you never bring that up.

How many times does the UA issue have to be explains to you?

And you do know the IAM had gotten about 1,000 jobs insourcing at UA, but yet you do t discuss that either. Don't be like world traveler

So why didn't the CWA at US get you the full value of the profit sharing?

DOH Seniority for ALL seniority purposes for ramp agents! It doesn't matter which airline you came from. DOH must prevail, for everyone to be finally placed on the seniority system where they rightfully belong.

Are you still whining about it?

Its not going to change, how many years have you been whining about it?

So if you were hired in a non-union job, and then transfer to a union job, you want to be senior to someone who has been paying dues and working in the classification?

Not going to happen.
