looks like the pilots took the offer, what about us TWU?

it would be a failure of representation if the IAM and TWU do not work out their differences NOW and miss the opportunity to make improvements for their membership. if they refuse there are alternatives and we need to vote them out. sign an amfa card it does not mean you have to vote amfa but it will light a fire under them to do what is right.
Work out what differences? The NMB hasn't even ruled yet. We don't know what the outcome will be.
Wouldn't it be a bit presumptuous of them to start negotiating before that time?

Not really.  The two sides could be nego on issues that would effect the entire membership as a whole rather the association goes thru or not.  Leave the stuff that would change IF the association was to be voted in for after the announcement, then these would be the articles and issues they would only have to deal with or not deal with depending on how the NMB rules.  I still say the NMB is going to rule in favor of an association, as they  have spent entirely too much time with categorizing the groups that are currently with both unions into their specific groups and/or class and crafts.  The KEY question here is "will the members get to vote on it?"  The NMB could very well listen to the TWU/IAM's wishes and grant the association without any membership vote.  I don't think they will allow this but I have seen the NMB do some crazy stuff in the past and would not put it past the TWU/IAM to do anything they can to keep the membership without fear of loosing both AA and US mechanics and ground and who ever else they represent.  With a vote by the membership, the association (TWU/IAM) knows good and well there will be a very, very good chance that AMFA can get on the ballot, and or AMFA will be able to be written in on the "write-in" option IF this election is conducted by the NMB.   I will tell you all one thing for sure,  the company has been hammering over both of you contracts from AA and US picking and choosing what they want in and out of the contract, therefore they will be very prepared to nego when the time comes, so doesn't the two unions do the same thing?  They should be meeting and going over the contracts "TOGETHER" in order to be better prepared when the time comes because rest assured the company will be ready and they will put into effect a deadline (just as they have with all the other groups) and if deadline is not met it will go to binding arbitration and you guys will have a reduced scenario if it does go to arbitration.  And I will assure you guys one more thing, don't even think the company will allow you guys to postpone and extend the deadline like the pilots did several times to push it from Mid OCT to Jan 3rd, not gonna happen.  Sorry so long but the 2 unions should have been already discussing and getting prepared for nego's not just sitting back waiting.  That's just pathetic representation.  That is like an attorney not doing any homework prior to a huge case that will make or break him in court, if doesn't use this time to his advantage he will get broken, if does make excellent progress during this waiting period he would be more than prepared and ready to take it all on and win to make him.  I see the 2 unions butting heads on way too many issues and not effectively representing the membership, there will be so much in fighting that they will not effectively to good for the membership.  I hate looking at it this way but I have said it long before all this, and the 2 unions are actually showing that it is gonna go this way.   Good luck to you guys, I really hope you guys come out smelling like a rose, but with these 2 unions bickering and fighting I just don't see it happening, just totally unprofessional and the company will take advantage and eat them alive as they will not be focused on the membership, they will only be focused on themselves, which is just pathetic.  You guys really do need to fire both of them and get them out of the airline mechanics groups...

The IAM meets and participates in TWU President Council Meetings. They've been meeting trying to finalize the seniority integration.

They can, and should, be meeting about preparations for negotiations. The are only two choices on the NBM ballot and that will be Association and No Union. If the Association wins the vote, then we're ready. The No Union wins, then it doesn't matter. If another organization gets on the ballot and wins, then it doesn't matter if the TWU and IAM started to get ready.

The twu has failed to represent you for the last thirty years. What makes you think it will be any different this time?

Didn't you get the memo? The Alliance is going to get us a kick ass industry leading contract...You know, because of strength in numbers!

We already pretty much have a basic idea what the company is going to offer from looking at the APA and APFA at least in regards to the BASE rate. 7% above the top Delta rate.

Anyone know what that TOP Delta rate is currently for Maintenance factoring in the 4% they just got?

I already know Fleets BASE Top.

This is not your normal Section 6 collective bargaining scenario and we currently have active contracts that run till 2018 that in a worst case scenario the company can fall back on and continue with if they chose.

The fact is that for a measure of approval by the creditors to do the merger they wanted assurances by both the company and the Unions that they would try to achieve labor peace. They did that because they understand the value behind that type of stability for the company and their investments.

Anyway with or without that happening in September all TWU and IAM groups will receive the "Industry Averaging" in BASE rates between us, Delta and United.

I know what that amount will be for Fleet but I can't seem to get anyone to answer the question on the forums page as to what kind of raise that means for maintenance? From where you stand currently PER HOUR, how much of a raise does that equate to for your group?

Delta AMTs top out at $39.55ph as of about 6 months ago.  They also get 10 paid holidays, unlike AA's dismal 5.  AA's AMTs are $3.00ph behind Delta at $36.55ph.  Using your 7% above Delta pay theory - would put AA AMTs at around $42.30ph.  Would be almost a six dollar an hour raise.  Restore AA AMT holidays, sk time, and some of the other items we lost in 2003, and that would go a long way towards AMT reparations at AA.

Mr Parker, here it is. If you're going to do for mechanics what you did for the FAs, this is how.

Thank you guys for the answer. I think we'll end up with around 8 to 10 holidays paid out at Double time and I wouldn't be surprised to see an additional week of vacation for those with 25 years or more?

Don't forget either about what comes to Delta employees in April.

Additionally, effective April 1, 2015, nearly all Delta frontline employees will receive increases of 4% for top-scale workers and 3% at most other steps in the scale. Merit employees will participate in a 4% merit pool.
