Teamsters Airline Division, Transport Workers Union Air Transport Division Meet

This past week, representatives of the IBT and TWU met in Washington, do discuss areas of mutual interest. The following joint statement was released:
The Teamsters Airline Division has had a relationship with the Transport Workers Union Air Transport Division for some time now. Between our two Unions, we represent roughly 30,000 in the Aircraft Maintenance and related Class and Craft.

We have joined forces on a number of occasions including the fight on foreign outsourcing of aircraft maintenance and other issues that are of importance to our collective membership. The meeting, held in the TWU offices in Washington DC, included a vibrant discussion on MRO’s both foreign and domestic and what we can do to ensure the quality of Aircraft Maintenance Safety in the future.

The meeting was hosted by TWU Workforce Development Specialist Gordon Clark. Present from the TWU were, John Conley Administrative Assistant to the International President, Chris Oriyano TWU Business Process and Research Analyst, John Donnelly Director of Strategic research, Angela Cox Strategic Research dept. and Attorney David Rosen.

Representing the IBT were, Bob Fisher International Representative Airline Division, Cassandra Ogren Strategic Research and Campaigns, Airline Division Attorney Nick Manicone and Chris Moore International Representative Airline Division.

Meetings will continue in the coming months as we continue explore synergies that will allow us to drive issues of importance to both of our mechanic and related members.

If the TWU stays at AA it will be because of amfa splitting the vote. The IBT started their card drive at TULE 3 weeks BEFORE the amp/amfa cards were received in the mail. Did anyone happen to notice that amfa could not even afford return paid postage of their cards? At least the IBT pays for the return postage on their cards.

US Airways are IAM, not IBT.

I am aware who represents the US the 3 guys were part of the IBT committee to organize at US that drive stopped just as it was to start and the IBT ran to start one at AA the three guys who flew to DFW were the leaders of the committee at Charlotte they had set up a attack on Us just as TSH described they went about a methodical process at US then suddenlly abandon all they had set up to start from scratch at AA

Another person speaks who does not know what he is talking about the AMFA drve started 10 days before the IBT even showed up then they took about 4 more days to decide if they would even start a drive they came to save there friends the TWU because they knew AMFA was going to roll the TWU up they told people that they thought AMFA wopu;d win at AA and they could not afford TO LET THAT HAPPEN.

However, upon reading pitbulls explanation of their origin pehaps not.

I still Have the E-mails from the Mechanic at Charlotte that contacted me can I say for sure what their motivation is no but from evryone I have spoke to this is completely out of character for them the guys at US had been planning their drive for 5 or 6 months getting people in place at all stations as far as I know it started in PHX but then stopped but I have not talked to those guys in a while.

If you could read you would see that I stated the IBT started the card drive at TULE 3 weeks before amp/amfa cards were RECEIVED IN THE MAIL. I never stated that the amfa drive did not start first.Do you not know that the amfa cards were received in the mail just this past week at TULE?

This e mail was sent to me on 6/9/12 the AMFA drive Started 5/20/12 I removed the guys name but can provide proof what I am saying is true if it comes to that.

Hey Don
You didn't give me a call back Thursday, we confirmed what you told me
that the IBT is going to have a organizing drive at American. They
said that the TWU is going to get decitified so they don't consider
this a raid but more of a bailout. Do you still plan on continuing
with the AMFA drive or do you think the Teamsters is a better chance
to get TWU out.

So you admit we started first so you have no point I was recruited by these guys before you even had sniff that something was up they came here to split the vote they do not organize like this I have seen them In action you are nothing more than a puppet be used to save the TWU but believe what you want i can prove what I say with a e-mail trail can you?

I wasn't doubting you pitbull, when I read your first post about ibt mechanics coming from USAirways, I assumed they were some of the former AWA ibt members. The UAL membership became aware of some of them during the ibt drive on UAL, I just figured they may have been some of the same individuals.

My mistake.

Just because you have not seen the IBT organize like this before does not make the card drive illlegimate. Any good organization will changes its tactics and not always use the same MO.
