Now craig, would a strong union be a union that has appointed, unaccountable officers or would a strong union be a union where all officers are elected by the membership?

Right now we are battling with unelected officials who we can not remove but with AMFA since everyone in office is elected can be recalled I would say that a strong union is where the membership controls the union not the other way around.

As the tool known as hss/overspeed he says that Bob Owens and the other Presidents who voted no to bring this POS t/a back should encourage a yes vote because the sham of a roll call vote dictated that this POS come back for a vote. We have a weak union because of the twu structure.

A strong union is democratic and a craft union represents people with a skill. Both of these items are met by AMFA not the twu or teamsters.

Ken, I think a strong union is one were the membership and I mean "ALL THE MEMBERSHIP" Stand with there union. After all without you there is no union. This will get you mad with me but..........The TWU is weak because you are weak..
 
He is probably here looking for a hand out due to being terminated from his AMFA represented airline and AMFA wont fork up the cash to defend him....lol

I could assume he's lying but don't know why I should assume that instead of assuming he is telling the truth, is that what we do on here assume someone is lying unless they can prove their not ?? Kind of the opposite of innocent until proven guilty hugh ??
I like the innocent until proven guilty version better so I will assume he and everyone else on here is telling the truth until I have proof of otherwise.
 
So your saying this Bankruptcy comparison document is somehow anti AMFA ??
I don't think the TWU is worried about the Teamsters or AMFA because I think Jim Little is tired of us & willing to let us go, I haven't seen any battle against either of them.

I agree !! with both statements so fixing the problem would require much more than just changing Union's. Good post.
 
Captain Bourne uses more acronyms than the consultings firms AA Management hires to feed us a line a crap day after day.

I don't believe a damn thing he says...period.
 
Nice video! I see one problem with the card drive. I have seen 4 different card cards being passed out. AMFA, AMP, IAM and now teamsters. It would be nice if everyone made up there mind as to which one to go with.

When to Union alienates the membership and makes decisions without membership input, and the leaders become the union then weakness and not standing with the union occurs.

TWU actually has contract language that reads "Neither the Union, nor it's members"

Does that sound like a union to you?

With the TWU and my understanding of the teamsters, the leaders are the union, and the dues payers are the members. Complete disconnect and some distance from what you describe as a "strong union"!

I have not been promised anything or talked to the Teamsters about their organization, I know virtually nothing about the Teamsters nor do I intend to find out, the video was about the drive being real & I said I believe that it is in fact real, you can choose to believe what you want.

Yes it would but it's not going to happen, we are divided so most likely will get what we deserve ...... The TWU & that's fine if that's how it has to be then so be it, in 10 years most of us will be gone.

I'm with amtcraig it's the Members that are making us weak I believe it's the cushy low cost area of Tulsa, people are apathetic due to the easy environment that we live in, struggling Members in high cost area's are more militant than non struggling Members in low cost area's & that breeds apathy, changing Unions would probably have little real impact but it would still be fun & an Interesting change of pace. :rolleyes:
besides who does enjoy a little revenge from time to time ....LOL

Why not use the novel idea of technology and use the internet to bring the union issues to the members?

Live feed Union Meetings, recorded meetings for watching at members leisure, and electronic voting on local issues?

Well now that a labor fight is going on within the airlines property...there will be no need for the airline to give anything to the union or its members. But they will make sure you have access to everything you need for the flight to continue.
