OK if there not going to pay for it then why use them ?? If you have to pay for your own defense then your better off with a Lawyer than some lame Union.
Also if your saying that the other Unions do the same thing then how is what AMFA did different then what they do ?
Sounds to me like your saying their all lame & not worth the dues money ..... If so I agree.

look you work for an airline.. you need to be represented by a union... you have a card drive going on, all I have to say is choose the one that will work for you... get informed. American airlines is a very big corporation, you need a strong union to fight for you. look around at your coworkers choose AMFA. they or maybe you will be doing the battling with them.

Now wait it sounds to me like you are saying that ALL the unions have the same type procedure when it comes to not representing Members, is that correct ?? Are you saying that AMFA is different than Teamsters or TWU when it comes to representing it's members in a grievance & if so explain the difference.

Seems he already explained the difference. Under AMFA a dues paying member who may place themselves in a situation where they need them the most is "shat out of luck"....

Of course no TWU Members have ever had their grienvance withdrawn?

I have three personally dropped in the trash can and/or traded away to save another worthless punk.

Ummm no that's not what I got in one paragraph he said that the TWU had the same procedure, so either the other two Unions have the same procedure or they don't.

There is a difference between a typical Grievance & a Termination Grievance a difference of someone's career is a very big difference.
I too have had piddly Grievances dismissed over overtime or whatever but haven't seen it happen with regard to someone losing their job but it might have happened before.

IIRC,
Didn't AMFA national fund representation for an AA member after AA TWU dropped it and he got his job back?
2005 or so.
B) xUT

Yes, ask Raptorman he is well aware ofd the issue and it's outcome. He was at the AMFA informational meeting on Saturday July 14th and they covered it.

Should 'any' organization fight a grievance that is indefensible?
I don't think so.

This is the way of AMFA. They wanted to know all from the Grievant. Like xUT they assume he is in the wrong and then determine if its defendable.

No I don't think all unions have the same procedures. I hope they all represent you. But, What I do know is that depending on the charges against you...there are alot of members like xUT that just won't want to fight for you... and with AMFA he may be on that Grievance committee..

Or maybe TWUinformer,, will be there to fight for you....that is if he thinks your worthy..

Now craig, would a strong union be a union that has appointed, unaccountable officers or would a strong union be a union where all officers are elected by the membership?

Right now we are battling with unelected officials who we can not remove but with AMFA since everyone in office is elected can be recalled I would say that a strong union is where the membership controls the union not the other way around.

As the tool known as hss/overspeed he says that Bob Owens and the other Presidents who voted no to bring this POS t/a back should encourage a yes vote because the sham of a roll call vote dictated that this POS come back for a vote. We have a weak union because of the twu structure.

A strong union is democratic and a craft union represents people with a skill. Both of these items are met by AMFA not the twu or teamsters.

Yes I have the actual Grievance, AMFA defended him because they had a stake in it though, it wasn't just some guy that got fired that AMFA didn't have a relationship with, everyone knows if the Union likes you they will defend you, the question is will they defend someone they don't like or are you paying for nothing because your gonna be using your own dime to defend yourself if you get in trouble.
