I'm voting NO for alliance, and NO for no union if the option is there, but the most important thing is NOT to spoil your ballet.

If this is fact, then write-in AMFA.    Pretty sure the organizing cmte are getting or have the cards back from the NMB by now...
sh*t while you are at it we could write in mickey mouse club...

Hey clueless people I haven't be had a union for 17 years. I will vote no for the alliance. I didn't set this up that a no for the alliance means no Union but someone did without asking any of us. My belief is the alliance will be 100% worse than what we have now I just won't vote yes on that period

yea the congress set it up when they passed the national labor relations act

if you dont like it call your congressman... maybe you and them can write a better law..

Otherwise you have to ask which will be worse no union or the union you dont like?  do you trust the company that much to treat you fairly?

That is completely false typically in a merger you vote for one Union or another not a twisted hybrid of both of them.

Teamsters, Communications Workers Agree to Jointly Represent Passenger Service Agents at Merged US Airways and America West
September 12, 2005
(Washington, D.C.) -- The Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters today announced a proposed alliance to jointly represent passenger service agents at US Airways when the merger of America West and US Airways is completed.
The proposal to create a new Airline Customer Service Employee Association – IBT/CWA will be presented to members of the two unions for their approval, reported Teamsters President James Hoffa and CWA President Larry Cohen.
CWA represents 6,000 passenger agents at US Airways currently, and the Teamsters Union represents 3,500 agents at America West. The employees work as reservations, ticket and gate agents, and also staff hospitality clubs at airports and assist handicapped passengers.
"By working together, we can build a strong, unified passenger service group and protect and improve conditions for employees that both unions represent at US Airways," said CWA's Cohen.
“This joint effort will result in strong representation for all workers at the newly merged airline,” Hoffa said. “As the industry endures continued economic uncertainty, this agreement will ensure that nearly 10,000 workers are united in their fight for fair treatment and job security.”
CWA currently has a contract at US Airways whose conditions remain in effect by law, while the Teamsters Union now is in bargaining for a first contract at America West, where employees unionized last year.
The future goal of the association is to improve salaries and conditions for America West and US Airways employees.
In day-to-day representation, CWA will continue to represent workers in the eastern, largely US Airways locations, and the Teamsters will represent those in the western states where America West mainly operates.
The pact calls for the presidents of the two unions to alternate in heading up the association, with Cohen initially serving as director for the first year and Hoffa as vice director. CWA and the Teamsters Union will each designate an equal number of representatives from their local unions to form a US Airways Representation Committee to meet at least four times a year on workplace issues and policies of the association. All policy questions must be jointly approved.

If you want to know how the TWU/IAM alliance is going to work you should look it up. Read what is in store for us if we allow this to happen.

If you don't want to have members of both unions negotiating for us then we need to bring a vote to rid ourselves of the IAM/TWU.

Sign an AMFA card now so we can bring a vote here to AA.

You know the difference between working at AA with the twu and working non union? At AA you pay union dues to an organization that works AGAINST you. Thats it. The twu at AA is an obscenity to unionism. When you have to fight your company AND your union what chance do you really have?

wow your really getting on my nerves first you say it's an act of congress then you say it happens all the time and site one case. Obviously you are an IAM plant and only care about the IAM and not the members that don't want this. I haven't met anyone in person or on here that wants this so why do you act like I'm the odd one out

i cant help you have a short fuse and im getting on your nerves try herbal tea..

the national labor relations act is an act of congress

i didnt say it happend all the time, you are the one that said it never happened, i simply posted an example of it happening(putting words in my mouth wont fix your mistakes)

oh yes because i post corrections of your mistakes means i m an iam plant...I am a member of the IAM, as i was a member of the TWU, that doesnt make me a plant...  (paranoid much?) I just happened to look at this thread and post a reply to you, not a plant...

i never met anyone from Istanbul... but i believe they exist... you are the odd man out(again paranoid much) on this because you are the one im talking to if others start posting on here mistakes i will correct them too...

I know for a fact reading through this thread others have told you the advantages, and im aware of the cons of such an alliance, but id  vote in the mickey mouse club, the powder puff girls, or the animaniacs than go with no union at all with these managers, if you feel that you can trust them more than even the worst union then go for it... but anyone else reading this has to ask the same questions for themselves..

You may not like your choices but they are your choices, its not some grand conspiracy its what you got.

Ok we have made our peace about it. I'm still voting no union over an alliance and you are voting powder puff girls. At least we know where we stand

But I'm 100% convinced that the no union option is a sham to scare people into voting for the alliance and I won't be duped or vote for something I don't believe in

If there is a NO union choice then only the NMB can decertify a union. The IAM or TWU can not self decertify. So if a choice of NO union is on the ballot the NMB has to run the election. Therefore a choice of NO union will be accompanied by a fill in vote of your choice. You can not have it only one way. If we were non union or wanted to add or change union representation we have to petition the NMB for a representational vote. The TWU or IAM can not have a vote that can possibly remove or decertify a union without going through the NMB process. An internal vote is possible but not with a choice of removing the TWU or IAM with NO union representation. I can see a internal vote of voting for the alliance or not voting for the alliance and staying independent of the alliance. Then you will still have two unions representing the same group. A no union vote is a scare tactic.
