Ánd you just provided why airline employees need to be unionized with a contract.

Has the IAM successfully stopped a carrier from closing a station? The contracts require the station be staffed but they can still run their business as they see fit and employees bumped to other locations, pursuant to the CBA.

Of course, but I pointed that out because I believe WN labor trusted their management to act on their "promise". Obviously business conditions change, but closing dozens of stations was wicked different than what they told the public and their employees.

Josh
It's a business, not a family. See below:

All the more reason to craft clear, concise, and tight language. A poorly worded article in a CBA is just about worthless.

DL made no legal promises to keep anything open post merger.

UA did and it is now closing as soon as it could.

WN is in what are becoming increasingly messy contract negotiations. keep clutching on to what they have now... it will be changing.

unions have repeatedly been shown to be powerless to stop the economic justification for change in the airline industry.

those who hold onto WN as the champion that labor should aspire to will find their goal becoming increasingly tarnished.

and DL did do that... and when the rulings came down that the unions had lost the elections, DL gave pay raises to the PMNW employees to get them caught up to their non-union PMDL counterparts.

Couldn't have been a more fitting reminder about who won and who lost with unions.

Actually they have, the IAM US CBA guarantees a certain # of stations, and protected stations, US wants to get rid of PIT Heavy Maintenance, but they cant as its contractual.

On the ramp side, they just signed another LOA protecting stations from being outsourced that have fallen below the flight level activity.

N142 isn't giving into the company, if that was the case, it would have happened by now.

And you got spanked, that the best you can come back with?

141 IS NOT CAVING EITHER!  also Josh  fyi  BDL and PVD were both added to class 1 cities back in 2008 to get the deal thru then  or may be it was 2005

and tell us that youre being paid to be the official  or unofficial spokesman for all of dl employees   and or for delta  since delta in your own opin is the one and only world's bestest greatest airline and all the others suck.
