The SWA CAS's should have seen this coming.IAM settled on 100% seniority for Customer Service agents coming over to SWA from FL.

The IAM just screwed over all their long time members at SWA.

But it would have been ok to screw the incoming FL agents?
Perhaps the WN agents should have told WN mgmt they didn't want a merger with FL.
In all respect, I will disagree. Just because WN bought FL, why is it that EVERY FL employee should be sent to the bottom? Do you realize if that were to happen, WN would most likely lose a lot of talent that would have improved the over all company. Systems that FL has in place that are better than some of the current WN systems and no one would have a clue how they worked. Let's talk Int'l flying, it is no cake walk about what you have to do in the Carib & Mex to get things done and if all the FL folks walked, WN would be worse off. If you stapled them all to the bottom, do you really think they'd give a darn if and when you figured it out. Just for the record, not everyone at FL got fat raises. I for one, can attest to that but I did keep my DOH b/c it doesn't matter. At the end of these days, we will all have to work together so what is the point of worrying about, or even commenting what one work group got over another? Seems silly to me.WN sold out their employees for growth!! Plain and simple!! SWA should have voted out IAM as said before. Sorry but I don't feel any FL employee should get their company seniority and should be happy they are still getting a pay check and a better check at that. SWA bought AirTran there for should be stapled to the bottom and retain there own FL seniority among them selves below SWA employees. So the way I see it is the SWA customer service agents did it to them selves by not voting IAM out!! And don't take my comment in a bad way I know there are many great guys/gals at AirTran!!
When it is the same union, seniority is done by date of hire/date of entry into the classification.IAM settled on 100% seniority for Customer Service agents coming over to SWA from FL.

Thank you Sharon for the commen sense approach! When it is the same union, seniority is done by date of hire/date of entry into the classification.
That is why AirTran CSA's went union after the announcement of the acquisition.
The integration policy is in the IAM contract. Unions have an internal integration policy in place
to protect their union members regardless of which company they work for. The other work
groups were represented by different unions on each side, meaning a negotiation took place
and members had to vote to approve the integration between the two unions.
AirTran brought value to Southwest in this business deal and IMO date of hire/date of entry into the
classification (dovetail) is fair and equitable for all involved.
And don't take my comment in a bad way I know there are many great guys/gals at AirTran!!
Let's all be adults about this, what's done is done, all we can do now is move forward. SWA didn't sell out its employees and AirTran was/is a lucrative and viable company. SWA did what it needed to do to grow, compete and mostly survive.
How about we take what we got and move on to build this bigger and better SWA that management keeps promising everyone. Just a thought....

Don't know why Sw mechanics think anything but DOH is fair but I guess from their viewpoint DOH is not right since you "trannies" are supposed to be getting a better deal you should accept less. Tell you what I have no dog in this fight but pissed me off when SW bought FL. FL had a nice niche I always bought tickets on them and paid for the biz class upgrade which is going to be gone now. Now I have to fly cattle car SWA. Would love to work for them but hate to fly them.
