IAM 141 TA discussion

I am in agreement that 141 needs to file a mediation notice with the NMB on behalf of the west.

I posted the steps in Section 6, it can take years to reach the point of a strike, just warning you don't expect things to happen overnight if Section 6 takes place.

The railroads are going on over five years with Amtrak and just reached an agreement, for years Congress legislated their CBAs as the President would not let them strike.

Just as he did not let UA AMTs strike and AA's Pilots.

You are not guaranteed the right to strike under the RLA, go look at the flow chart that the link I posted.

I still believe the company would have no intention of settiling and just drags its feet in the process.

You are right! We wanted that clock to tick ***TWO YEARS AGO***. But our "Experienced Leadership" found it fruitless, and now we are so far behind the ball it is ridiculous. If you think about it, that's two years of potential pay and benefits that flys out of our pockets and into DoUgIe's because of one visionary     "Cheap Suits"!!!

Well looking at the TWU site, you were not close to a TA and now that Hemenway took over, good luck on getting anything from US.

He is an arrogant p---k.

Negotiations 101! "You are not guaranteed the right to strike"
Guaranteed is but a tactical play in Negotiations and Poker (same thing). The Company demonstrated this tactic when they threw fruitless money at lawyers to tie "Cheap Suits" up in court, even though they were "not guaranteed" to spank him in front of the Arbitrator with the COC. They always had a backup. Cheap Suits leaves his blinders on when he gets out of bed with Cheeks.

let me repost this......You are on a pay freeze and you can't see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DELETED BY MODERATOR.

SINK CANALE

He does not have the best interest of the workers of this company at heart. FAILURE. Move on. Get out of bed with the company, the affair is over.... the workers NEED someone who will work for them not against them. Show me something my dues are actually paying for that make a positive difference in my work environment other than line your pockets.

Amen to that..Honestly I dont even know why I am paying dues to this union. The IAM just seems to be like a "gun salesman" to countries at war. They are not on anyones side but just like to keep the war going because it means more money for them.

While we realize that emotions are high regarding all these labor issues, we ask that you all take a deep breath and think before you post. A couple of you now have a few days to rethink their posting style, and we really don't want to start closing threads, but some of the flame bait and name calling of late cannot and will not be tolerated.

We welcome a civil discussion of the issues, but when you folks start attacking each other and calling names etc. we will begin to shut threads down and fill the corn field.

We're all supposed to be adults around here, but by the behavior of some of you on these boards you'd never know it.

Thank you.

When the T/A talks last year broke off, there was a mediator involved. Does anyone know if the mediator was present when talks resumed last week, or is Cheap Suits starting from scratch again.

Mediator or not, none of the mediation is binding. In Section 6 the mediator can declare an impass and continue the process to strike. This is not Section 6, thus the mediator is just a courtesy. Hell, if you wanted we could get Clark County NV to provide a mediator, as they provide the service. But it's just a third party with no authority. The Company has displayed (IMO) an attitude indicative of not caring what any mediator without authority says.

Anyone have "cheap suites" e-mail address or voice mail at the district.........nice
concessionary letter he just put out.
This fat cat works for us, let's start ringing his bell. 700 help us out!
Let's light up the switch boards.

As directly stated by Canale, the negotiations reopened with the previous offer in the T/A off the table, and the response from the company was not good. Looks like this will drag on for a good long while. Striking is not an option, and the company is not looking like they will blink.
