Right along with your time spent at Freedom Airlines (against the advise of ALPA National) trying to get a free type rating but really not working for a union-busting operation (or at least that's what you keep telling yourself).... :D .
 
I took a break from this site for probably 6 months. I was made aware of this forum just after the arbitrated list was released by Nicolau. I watched the implosion years ago, followed the events, know the screen names. I got worn out. The Nic debate. I get it, same ol crap. Over and over again.

I noticed a few things since I've returned. First, the banner ads. All this debate about the Nic has created so much traffic, this site has obviously benefited from to Nic or not to Nic. The other thing I noticed..where is Jim? Did a group of Usapians abduct him and are holding him hostage or is he still vacationing in Alaska? EastUs, you have reached your limit of emoticons. Claxon, what can I say, you are still..Claxon. 700, are you still bitter about losing your job? It looks like you have a lot of time on your hands being an expert on all things airline forums. Some things never change.

Here we are in 2013. Us Airways will soon be gone, taking USAPA along with them. The Nic debate will soon be over and no more US Airways discussion forums.

That will be a good day.

Do you believe APA is willing to make our any of A320 Captains and F/Os senior to their W/B Captains? Enough with high fences?

I don't, we'll see.
I don't have a clue. Have you seen our lists side by side? Has anybody? Smarter people than me will have to figure it out.
 
My guess is what the APA is willing to sign off on to avoid arbitration, usapa and the east pilots will not like. A few guys talking here and there is one thing, when it comes down to brass tacks, that's another. I think the APA has plenty of good arguments that hold alot of water, and they will do ok in an arbitration. And I think they know it.

Bottom line, usapa and the east won't like what the APA is willing to sign off on to avoid arbitration, and the APA is not overly afraid of arbitration, so off we go.

I won't even go into where the west legal efforts end up, I have no clue. Even if the west litigation efforts fall totally flat before the arbitrators get it all, what will they do? Will they honor their colleagues previous work? Will they use 3 lists? Will they use one usapa DOH list? I don't know. But I believe we will see arbitration.

At any rate, our last 7 years of fun will be water under the bridge if the merger goes through. We'll have the rest of our careers to stew over it, or not, as we see fit. Personally, I'm not afraid of however it ultimately works out. It will be what it will be.
True, and there should be enough money on the table after the JCBA to take the bite out of whatever it is that's going to happen.
 
Yep. Entire affair could have been avoided, even after the NIC ruling...with a few, very few tweaks. The West would have inherited the airline by now but for a few compromises. They were this close.....

Same wall of NIC or nothing even then. And here we be.

Do you think the merger would have been announced on the 14th had we elected to drag our feet? Of course it would. Little USAPA was not driving the bus, the UCC was (and still is.) Upper hand, really?

Had the CLT reps been on the ball, and if they really thought there was more time to bargain, and more to be had..I ask (for the umpteenth time) "why did they not use roll call and stop it?"

It was time to vote. There is always more to be had. Reasonable persons know when the risk of trying to get more outweighs the resulting gain. 75% of our voting pilots agreed.

Spoken like a senior pilot. The difference in senior and mid level FO at Airways is 5 years. it's ok , most have been here 25 years but just wait another few years. It will be ok.

Fences are about as stable as oil prices and can quickly disappear. There is no way the APA is going to give us DOH and protect themselves with fences that might fall.

I think the idea was to fence themselves off long enough that our retirements dilute what's left to a point that it has little impact.

Well boys you have had an 8 years solid fence. You got all your upgrades, all your attrition, all the 190's, all the 757 and all the additional 330. The east told the west that if you just had 5-7 years we would inherit the airline just give it to you now wait in line and all will be good.

OK you have had your 8 years fence. Ready to hand over the airline like you promised? You had your fence ready to accept the Nicolau now?

No! Shocking east pilots lied again/ Backed out of the deal again.

So you had your 8 year fence but now you want to continue with your dream list of DOH. Not only that but you also want the APA pilot to give you another 5-10 year fence and have them wait to inherit the airline.

Soory boys your word has about as much value as Doug Parker. Worthless.

You have had your fence it is time to pay up.

Pay up how? What is it that you want...I mean really? When this started, you were all satisfied to live out your careers in PHX merrily flying your trips. What do you want now? We had no value...remember that? We were the leaches...remember that? We needed saving...remember that? So what is it today that is different...what has value on our side that makes you want it? If what we brought to the table had no value then, then it has none now. Save yourselves! Put a fence around PHX and keep it.

No problem. I've found them to be clinically interesting, to say the least.

"Eric's a talented Spartan spokesman." I agree. He'd be useful as a clown for very young kids' birthday parties...well..with the assumption of adult supervision present as well, of course. If you're his agent; post a pic of him in full and proper clown costume. I'd have to insist on that, since showing up as a "Spartan" might frighten any children of 5 years and under. What are his rates for an appearance?
