$27,060.80 for an aircraft Mechanic is disgusting...
And yet people still sign up for these jobs.

I can think of few other industries in which people have so much desire to work in it that they take substandard wages. Show business comes to mind as one.

Because the majors are not hiring and they have aviation in their blood?

All I will say Bob is as I read your 3,000+ posts here I surmise you enjoy the misery of others is some fashion.

bob,

Once again, go ask any customer service agent or ramp agent what happened to them in 1992 without any union representation and you will see why a union is need in this industry.

"One of the problems of getting it off the gate on time, is the paper work (Weight and Balance) from the crew. "

No kidding? This is a mainline aircraft and central load planning doesn't do the weight and balance and send it over via acars?

I'm very surprised. Paper weight and balance leaves far too much room for human error and, as you've already found out, delays.

Several so-called "regionals" are in the process of switching over to an automated system whether it be by onboard handheld computers or sent via acars from someone in dispatch.
All the EMB manuals conform to U express, rather than mainline, specs.

U mainline gets CLP. U express does their own paperwork.

Why? As Light Years has said, God forbid we have ANY mainline expectations at MAA.

Another reason - when the stations send the pax and cx load into CLP, one, and only one ramp weight, and only one MTOW is derived.

If CLP came to express, a whole lot more stuff would be left on the ramp at taxi time.

Mother of God you'd never know it here in full pay to that last day land. Tell me someone what is a "Living Wage" does it mean one or 2 new cars with payments? 2 or more kids in college? A mortgage for a house over or under 2,000 sq ft. Just how much is a "living wage" supposed to cover and how many "Living wages" are there per household? What's Dave Siegel's definition of a "Living wage"? Think it's different than say the average fast food worker?
Bob you and your Libertarian ideology makes me laugh. Personal responsibility, go it alone, it’s all on the individuals back. No tribes, no community, no teams or groups, FORGET unions, the worst of the lot, you live the great American dream where oneself is all that is needed. Funny how a very few rag heads group together using the team/group idea of ancient times and throw America on it’s a-zz along with your go it alone attitude. Like I told you before Bob: Pray to the good Lord above to grant you health and sound mind up to the second you die least you become one of the ones you loathe. Michael Badnarik is the 2004 Libertarian Presidential Candidate/Stealth Bomber simulator operator and Bob’s hero, and they both are good for a laugh.

Try answering my question instead of the tired old party line.

Also try avoiding the personal insults, it's unbecoming of you.

Life is full of choices and you all made yours. Now live with it.

As for the $27,000 in base pay. Your beloved Democrats said anyone making over 30,000/yr was "Rich" now you say poverty, I ask which is it?

Fact of the matter is my G/F makes 26,761.00 supervising hourly's which would seem to be unfair, especially since she doesn't have to pay dues for that income. Take the union dues of $45.00/Mo and you reduce that $27.060.00 to less than a fast food assistant Manager. Great union Pitguy, but hey they are on the job.

Not laughing actually very sad for the people who actually thought that the unions would protect them. Can't be done when to much supply chases not enough demamd.
Bob,

Not sure what you mean by "thought unions would protect you" retorhic. Has nothing to do with "supply and demand" for the jobs. U had furlough language in certain contracts that prevented of limited furloughs....didn't matter what supply of personnel or demand in the open market was out there.

Union have protected employees and contracts and always will. It appears at first glance from your post that you equate concessions by employees with non-protection of employees.....

Unions are a "true democracy". Folks vote on what they will live with or not; NOT the leadership to make those decisions. Both concessions, the employees had the opportunity to vote. Obviously, they voted for these types of agreements that allowed for furloughs to occur and wages and benefits to erode.

Pilots and f/as had furlough language to either limit furloughs or prevent it. These agreements that were ratified gave the co. relief on those provisions....those votes even came from the labor memberships who voted FOR these agreements.

:eek:ff: So I really like the E170s, I think they are fab.

They are also the cover story of Airways Magazine this month. Big aticle about them and MAA with lots of pics.

LOL, I didnt realize that emoticon was so angry looking. I see why he's under-used!

I have to say, the F/As at MAA are a breath of fresh air.

Is it one of these added to the fleet per week? Is there 1 Dash-8 being retired per week? If not, isn't this grown to the airline? Isn't this how new markets are going to be opened up by "freeing" up some of the 279 mainline craft?
