It has nothing to do with the cost of the airlplanes. It has everything to do with the labor rates. Why not fly a 50 seat full of high/er paying customers and keep all your labor costs down (not just pilots), instead of flying a 100 seater with 50 more low revenue passengers. It doesn't make sense.
