DELTA TO GET FULL SENIORITY

Excellent post, LCC#1! You hit the nail on the head. I'm an original Piedmonster F/A that was based in CLT during all of those other base closings and I watched my seniority go down with each one!

Welcome to the airline industry, Sthrnboy.

U also used to honor time served if you were a retiree also. That changed when the West came into power.
This is true, but that decision was made by new mgmt. Mgmt cannot control DOH issues. If that were the case, Dougie would of protected his precious few, or so he says.

Ok, Guys/Gals. I want to staple the flight attendants at the bttm. It would help me and my co - workers at AWA. I only want it due to it would help us and myself. Point Blank. It is how I feel.

Yes, It would suck, but come own. Dont give me that you dont have hard feelings. I have flown NON REV to PHILLY/and CLT. All I hear is how they act IN CLT. Or (THIS IS THE WAY PIEDMONT DID IT) Or (IT WOULD HAVE NEVER Happend on PIEDMONT)

So Yes, You still have feelings. Its been said to me many times.

Point Blank. We dont know if it is going to happen. I'll be happy to move bases if it comes to that. It my job. I have accepted that. I also know with this first merger, I am going to loose my line.

However if something such as 9/11 ever happend. Our contract out west only give us a 5 year (recall rights) After that I am as many others are *Up the creek*. So yes, I want a merged contract and work rules cleaned up.

I am just worried if its not Delta it will be someone eles and who knows when we will all get our pay raises. Also if something was to ever happen and a downturned happend I would be out of a job I really love.

Point Blank its how I feel. Along with other West Fa's not all but some. :) Its not for hard feelings is just mine.

Also US Airways was much older than AWA. It was not fair. Also your hire date is the date you started training. Ours out west is the day after we Grad training. So that part is not fair.

Yes, Life is not fair but still. I hope they come to something in our favor.

Anyone know what is the total number of US Airways flight attendants (East+West). Also, how many are on furlough?

From the tone of things, we might be reaching a time of East, West, and South.

First of all, your DOH should be your first day of flight attendant training not graduation. I am surprised that hasn't been addressed by AFA.

Secondly, I don't know what your seniority is, but I didn't enjoy losing my line after 18 yrs in PIT then getting kicked out and now being based in PHL. When US bought PSA and Piedmont, I lost nearly 3800 numbers in 2 yrs, thats this business. I didn't whine and cry about it. Stapling any one to the bottom of the seniority list is just wrong. US and Delta can no more help being a long run player then AWA can help being a young airline.

First of all, your feelings ARE valid. Secondly, I have strong feelings about non AFA carriers who never had an interest in AFA fall in LOVE with AFA BECAUSE of the DOH policy. Where we have common ground is THAT very issue. I do NOT believe non AFA airlines should be granted DOH even if they DO vote in AFA for that policy. To me that is rewarding those carriers for flipping the finger to AFA.

Everyone points the finger to Piedmont for stapeling the Empire f/a's to the bottom but I agree 100% WHY this was done and wish AFA National would adopt that. Empire was approached before by AFA to make the switch and REFUSED it. This was pre DOH policy. Because of that, they were punished and put on the bottom when PI bought them.

WHY OH WHY are we rewarding those that flip us the finger? F :censored: them. That includes Empire, PSA, and Trump. None had the slightest interest in AFA until they learned of the DOH policy. THAT IS CRAZY!!!

Former Piedmont, original USAir, and AWA flight attendants are the only f/a's rightfully entitled to DOH as they actually WORKED for a carrier that HAD AFA on the property.

I DON'T think DAL should deserve DOH as they have rejected AFA outright and YES, SHOULD be punished and stapled. That being said, it will NEVER happen because we have too many wusses not strong enough to recognize the difference in getting f :censored: up the P :censored: or up the a :censored:

So some of us agree with you. Let's make one thing clear. We poke fun at each other alot about our silly ways. That doesn't mean we have ill will.

USAirways East has somewhere near 8000 f/a's total (maybe a few less). Approximately 5000 active. USAirways West has (I believe, but don't quote me) 2500+.

Anyone who was an original USAir, has already seen the East, West and South thing.

Thanks.

Adding up the latest requirements from our bid packages, we have around 10,800 active and between 1,000-2000 out on furough flight attendants.

This is why I think that there will be an equitable integration. The combined carrier will have a roughly equal number of flight attendants from each side with DL having a slight edge in numbers. If the AFA does not do an equitable integration, the original DL flight attendants would have a large enough voting block to decertify the afa.

Your Welcome. I really think you have nothing to worry about. DOH is a way of life that USAirways f/a's have always honored, no reason to change the rules now. Just remember you can't decertify something you don't have. Delta f/a's are not currently AFA members. DOH for a seniority list is a given, everyone needs to relax on this issue.

IIRC, after a merger, the NMB gets involved. At some point, it decides that the two carriers have reached single carrier status. If at that time the former DL flight attendants are unrepresented or represented by a different union, there will be an election to see who represents the "new" DL flight attendants.

This is why I think that the AFA will play nice.

You are right, we all need to relax. This is not even a done deal, and we are getting wound up over seniority.

All,

SthrnBoy is an idiot and in no way represent the feelings of anyone who has been in this business as long as we have and understand how things work.

Do yourself some good and put him on Ignore or your brain cells will be lost to the babblings of a mean spirited FA.

You have any idea how a TWA FA feels about AA? What happened to them was deplorable and should never happen to anyone.

With respect...

I did not know that trying to express my feelings about a situation that will involve my life would make me an idiot. Excuse me that I will loose my line (which involves my pay by days working and my mortgage.)

I don’t need to care what happened to TWA…. It happened and it’s the past. That is the past. I feel bad for them but life is about “survivalâ€￾.

If the shoe was on the other foot, you think DELTA FA’s would not think twice before putting me on the bottom of there seniority list. GET REAL.

They voted down AFA many times. Now they reap the rewards.

Here is the thing: there appear to me more of DL than there are of HP/US. Ergo, you "punish" them and then they proceed to decertify your union.

That's why AFA will offer DOH. They don't have a suicide pact and a proven losing record at DL.

How many DL F/As voted yes for AFA last time vs voted no? Add that number to how many there are currently at US/HP minus some that dont like AFA and would want to decertify and you'd have a better estimate as to the actual vote if it were forced.

Yeah right! USAIR people will staple the non-union Delta employees to the bottom. That's a fact Jack. Allegheny-mohawk was settled between unionized carriers during pre-deregulation era. Delta employees are mainly non-union and have no rights at all. The ALPA will be a different story, but most Delta people will be willingly stapled to the bottom by their unionized counterparts at USAIR.

Its not about what USAirways will do; its about AFA. DL will become union the minute the merger is approved. Seniority will be DOH.
