Can anyone defend the IAM crossing the mechanic's picket line?

bash the IAM all you want but to cross or not to cross is a personal decision based on your convictions.this said, apparently it wasn't a very huge decision for the IAM workers at NWA was it?
any one have pic's of bob roach with a shotgun forcing members to cross?

So how is it scabbing when the scope language of the ramp all ready contained the pushback and ancillary duties?

Ok, then we will not call it scabbing, but rather crossing a "union"picket line when not required!

Dell, you are correct as it is each person personal decision to make with regards to picket lines. But we all remember 1992 and all the talk from the IAM about groups crossing our lines?

Do tell. What was the talk from the IAM??

There were talks between the IAM, ALPA & AFA about forming a labor coalition to bargin with the company. The typical strengh in numbers which the IAM loves to preach!

Well it seems the pilots union broke away and negotiated their own agreement which they agreed to cross picket lines. IAM walked and AFA honored for a few days until ordered back to work by the Judge and with ALPA it was business as usual, even more so as nothing seemed to break while the mechanics were on strike! This entire time all you heard from the IAM leadership was betrayal by ALPA.

Bottom line is it was business.......

Piney if I remember correctly the IAM strike fund pays a worker $100/wk once you pass the initial one week waiting period. That was brought up when AMFA was trying to organize on U property a few years ago. "You will lose the IAM strike fund" was one of the reasons to keep the IAM.

Speaking of strike funds, what did Eastern guys get a week when they were on strike? And how much were there dues? And how much did the International Prez make at that time. My point here is that while it seems that the International goons salaries have probably seen great increases the amount workers receive for strike pay hasn't. 700 fill us in with your FACTS!

The strike fund pays $150 a week.

Sorry I was in college when EAL was on strike.

700,
How's that college working out for you? Also are you saying it is acceptable to you what the IAM is doing at Northwest? Please reply to the last question 700.

~Still don't see why a mechanic should vote for the IAM when the IAM is helping ruin the mechanic profession at Northwest. Please stick to this one issue. I don’t want to hear lie, deny and make counter accusations typical IAM type BS.

I hear the IAM goons saying "Oh trust me. I have your best interests in mind." LOL

If the work is in their contract and a worker would be disciplined for not doing their job, then I have a problem with it.

But no organized labor should cross a picket line, ALPA, PFAA, IAM and the ibt whose ibt represented F/As and dispatchers flew struck flights for NWA.

Just as no union should raid each other either.

:)
So did ALPA, PFAA and every other union at NWA.

Mr. 7 did you answer the question? No.....the topic is "can you defend the IAM crossing the mechanic's picket line". If you can't / won't answer then just say so. I'm sure that you will try to make it the IBT's fault for the problem though.

Pit you don't have a bone in this fight why start a riot on here? You and Piney hate the IAM that is a fact. You said you were in management making ANY union pure crap in your book, that is also a fact.

The union any union is only as good as the members. With all the chaos airline workers live with now WITHOUT these type of threads makes them easy picking for a ruthless heartless management bent on making themselves rich at any cost including the jobs of thousands of airline workers.

It's going to be real funny, (SARCASM) if all this fighting among brothers and sisters results in NO union, if that happens watch the true colors of management shine as just about every job goes away as per the moron currently running the country stated yesterday in India, it’s a good thing foreign countries that are booming while the American workers collect welfare.

Go ahead, #### moan and fight among yourselves over asinine things like this thread!

Take a pill Pit and get on with you glorified life.
