Article 4 Industry Comparable Pay rate

Totally agree, but don't see how it could ever happen that only one union represents all airline mechanics. You see, there is greed among the unions , just like there is in companies managements.

Are you saying if we voted in AMFA, we could be treated different than the mechanics at Southwest or Alaska?

That is what the industrial unions want everyone to believe.  But not true what-so-ever...

I dont see AMFA chasing union dues like the other 3 and never have its about mechanics representing themselves and their profession. It sucks when workers not only have to battle corporations but also industrial unions when trying to seek a different approach to protect their careers.

No, not exactly, but , if you think that if we get AMFA it will result in a contract exactly equal to Southwest, I would say I will believe that only when I see it happen.

Your right. It won't happen.  No one has stated this from the AMFA side.  With AMFA it will help stop the constant concessions that the TWU has been agreeing to for the last several decades.  And believe me, nobody is promising SWA wages and bennies if you guys vote AMFA in.  The gradual lift in wages and bennies will happen over time, but not on the first contract, if anyone is promising this, they are dead wrong.   Look at what the teamsters have promised all the UAL guys.  Now look at what they followed thru with,  NOTHING.  Not one...

On a side note, and according to these numbers;  3 Transportation Stocks Set To Jump Higher
Any union should be able to do a decent job with the numbers coming out of the AA camp.  AA is looking very strong for the future.  Still wondering why the TWU "agreed" to getting rid of PS for a one time raise?

As is often repeated around here, "YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID."

Never trade away your 15% first dollar profit sharing for a small percentage increase in hourly rates.   Yet the pilots did just that (traded 2/3 of it for a small raise), and thanks to the "me-too" provisions, so did everyone else.

And then because that didn't show enough stupidity, the TWU then traded away the remaining third (5%) for another small raise.

When your oppressive employer finally offers you real profit sharing (15% first dollar profit sharing), you accept it and then negotiate for higher wages WHILE KEEPING THE PROFIT SHARING.   Especially when your employer files Ch 11 to become more efficient and it looks like long-term profits may finally be on the horizon.    But no, the TWU brain trust is so effing stupid that they agreed to give it all away.   Idiots.

How are those negotiations going on at the most consistently profitable airline in the world? It's been what...three years you have been talking now. Seham must be getting rich of you guys with all his professional negotiating skills.

Talks haven't been going on 3 years, it hasn't even been amendable 2, and I don't remember any early openers

Lets not forget the twu game of limbo contract negotiations they are contending with.  The twu says we can get lower than that guys!

The twu gets a raise on that swap, profit sharing checks bring in no revenue to their bottom line.  What did we get for the "me too"? No one remembers what we got for it.
