And the beat goes on... with character assasinations and back and forth chattering about who's to blame for our current state of affairs. I suggest the discussion be centered around how we can build solidarity, repair the damage of past mistakes and do what is necessary to improve our collective future. Our NC is in Section 6 negotiations. Something that hasn't happened for a long time with our group. IMO... we need to seize the opportunity by focusing on our future and not the past. It's time to put aside past differences and look forward. Our NC is across the table from the same party of the past. One who has no regard or appreciation for past sacrifices, on time performance, hard work, dedication or working through the sleet, rain, heat etc... Anyone who believes this recognition will transpire, on the company's part in negotiations, is being quite naive. With that being said... we owe our NC our support in negotiations. In the meantime, I would like to read posts pertaining to our future and not the past.

how much credit ? who can say , maybe I turned 20 votes , maybe 70 , you never know ..

Since there's no way of knowing empirically it's just as possible your passionate rants had a net negative effect on the vote, and it passed despite your attempts to help it.

even HE didn't have much of a choice in the matter ... poor man was forced to confront the worst possible situation a man responsible for people can be made to make ...

With a worsening US economy , with a union membership that didn't understand the situation or even it's position in the "new" American economy ... he made the choice , that hard choice that had to be made , sick as it may make all of us ...

but at least today we have LIVED TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY ...... we stand on the verge of being able to reclaim that which was forced from us ,AMERICAN JOBS ..........and now more than Ever ,this country stands with people such as OURSELVES , blue collar workers , honest workers , hard workers ... people trying to provide for their families ...

now is our time .

I will have to admit, i like your enthusiasm.........5 pages of it.

If i put it on the end of a fishing pole and hook !

i dont think i would get a single bite !

But i might catch a crab

MAYBE!

obviously you are correct , they will not care how hard we work ,or how hard we have worked these last several years in brining our company national recognition as an on time carrier that DOESN'T miss bags ..

What they WILL however care about are two things ...

1. worker unrest .

2. Public perception .....

i'd like to take a second to speak to choice NUMBER TWO !!!!!!!! !

Maybe the company guys at the table have too much money ...( althou I doubt it because this is after all US Airways LOL )

but i'm willing to bet that for whatever reason they are FAR out of touch with the American mainstream ...Am I saying today that the American public cares about Union workers ? no , of course not that would be absurd ... but what I AM saying is that the AMERICAN PUBLIC cares about what I like to call JOB CHURN ... the act of taking decent paying jobs and substituting them with crap , no wage , no benefits paying jobs ...

and as much as I love my company , it is GUILTY of doing such things ....There is not a day that goes by where more Americans are getting reduced , torn down , recycled in the bad way in this job market ...and I tell you there is MUCH pent up rage against this new form of degradation ...

AMERICANS ARE ANGRY . ............they are angry against those who sell them out for increased gains (such as what US Airways has done )

HOW DARE YOU try to take up the name AMERICAN without paying your due to AMERICANS ....when I say as BAGGAGE HANDLERS that we are powerful , I MEAN it ... we are the guys who are always beat up and trampled upon , WE are the ones who in this countries eyes would most Represent the majority of working Americans , people who have honestly devoted their lives to a single company , only to be TRAMPED UPON and thrown out like yesterdays trash ....

If US airways thinks this whole jaunt over "racism" is bad ... wait till you see the backlash from CHURN .....

Orgac i think the future is upon us i in all sincerity sure hope that we will get a good good t/a one that is 100% better than what we have..... i be willing to bet it is very intense in that room btwn the company n the mediators

If you have faith in the intentions of the NC it certainly should be. I believe the atmosphere is tense. IMO... there may be a reason the mediator scheduled this round of negotiations in DC. Take the company out of their comfort zone of Tempe. Especially, after the last unproductive rounds of talks in PHX. Maybe the Mediator is getting tired of the lack of negotiating in good faith by the company. The door of opportunity is truly upon the membership, the NC and the District brother. Hopefully, all parties will act accordingly. In regards to your previous post of negotiations updates throughout the week... no news may be good news. If things go south I'm sure we'll hear before the end of the week.

orgac i have had the pleasure of meeting some of the team memebers recently and i must say the atmosphere must be tense and if as you say that may be the mediator could be gettin tired of us mgmt failure to negogiate and if things go south quickly in DC id say i believe the fireworks be lit up

i will admit while in the past ive complained about the lack of nd team it wasnt til i actually heard from some of them privately that actually made me change my mind and ive also met some of the mgmt team and im not at all impressed with some of them.. one of the guys i met was bec he used to work with a buddy of mine whos now in phl but both the mgmt guy and my buddy used to work in ewr

REALLY ? I suggested that US Airways outsource ALL those stations ... throw away THAT many lower middle class AMERICAN jobs ? I don't remember being consulted by this companies management ....

Freedom, I'd like to reach an agreement with you. I'll buy you lunch once every two weeks. If at any time after one year has passed, I stop getting the steak and start ordering the salad, you buy me lunch for a period that I determine. Sound fair?

If you agree to this deal, you agree to my right to force you to buy me lunch for all eternity should I choose.

EDIT: OK, that doesn't sound quite as quality of an example as it sounded when I typed it. Need to stop posting when I'm tired.

blame me and the rest of the union as much as you like , but it was the COMPANY that choose to shut your station down ...

...And you helped facilitate that...

Sure you were. And you weighed in when you voted yes.

no , as a poor person , laboring in America today , doing hard yet honest blue collar work , I was given an IMPOSSIBLE choice by this fortune five hundred company .. outsource those stations or work in POVERTY for the next several years ...With all of our workers who had families to feed , what choice was there ? It was like putting a gun to our heads and tell us too choose ...

Come down off the cross, already.

but at least today we have LIVED TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY ......

If I never hear/see this phrase again, it'll be too soon. IMO, nothing encapsulates organized labor's 30 yr. decline better than those 5 words...

Sadly, it has been proven time and time again that those in the Hubs & large stations will throw those in the outstations under the bus with very little thought of doing so. To this day I have spoken to people that took part in a contract vote that enabled more outsourcing, and they are completely clueless about the ramifications of it. If it didn't directly affect them, they didn't pay any attention to it. After all that has taken place over the years with outsourcing, there are still members today that would throw others under the bus for a raise in pay.
Freedom is not alone, there are many others that think the same way, they just have more sense than to come on a public forum and post it. The bottom line is money, and the company knows that the given majority will take the bait here at US. I'm willing to bet that the latest contract that was rejected at UA, would have passed at US with flying colors.

I don't think you are correct at all and I think you are painting that hub thing with a pretty wide brush. The last TA failed here and in PHL by wide margins roughly 675 to 70 I believe it was here. IYou are correct in saying that hubs do control the vote for the most part. It's simple mathe bro ,that is were the numbers are. The is not the presidential election where there is an electoral college

Also of note the mechanics are picketing here in CLT today while tv is covering it . It will be interesting what sort of reaction comes from the company and what it gets them. We as a group should be watching closely.

Second that wings396. Divided, apathetic, and un-informed. So what are WE going to do about this issue going in to the final Merger after Airline De-Regulation ? The Company's are hoping that if they repeat the lies often enough, that their HELP will continue to believe them . Contracts and hire dates for all that protect SENIORITY and SCOPE/JOBS.
