Rogallo;

Your comment here about the TWU grasping at anything is SOOOOOO correct let us hope that the membership here at AA doesn't pay any attention to the babble and stands firm on its commitment to remove this ASSociation.

Like you, I too have been around the block a few times.

Unfortunately I am on the tail end of my career to reap all the benefits the younger guys will have in their own craft union.

I can hear it now....."Why didn't we do this years ago"!!

GP, SHIABLE and a few more were all AMFA pushers until twu brought them in.
Now the table is turned, these guys are all a bunch off F--king hypocrites.

I thought you Retired. Don't you have something else to do. Get off this site and enjoy your life.

I did retire but since I have spent 20+ working with the other main organizers to rid AA of the TWU. With a Month until you find out when the cards will be turned into the NMB I am helping out as much as I can to make it happen. Whether it be putting my two cents in here since there are NOT to many from M&R that come here much, but there are a few. I am working with the guys from the SE Region to insure what needs to get done to be ready to open a Local, elect new Officers to replace the SCAMMERS that are in place at this time. Rebutting the mis information that some put here as well. Once this card drive is either completed or done for good I will at that time have No reason to post here any longer. So does that put your mind at rest?

SWAMT; I know and it has happened every time we get a substantial number of cards and the talk on the floor is to remove the TWU as our bargaining unit.

What scares me is the fact that the membership here is so trained to NOT Think it's like a pack of sheep. I am SORRY to have to put it that way but it is True.
No matter what information you give them they still ask the same lame questions every time. The TWU M&R membership has been kept in the dark so long they don't even want to think about the UNION what so ever.

As far as putting Peterson or any other TWU/IAM Officer in place if we get AMFA here that will be hard to do, Since most will NOT step up to do the job. The few that will need to be given some guidance as to the contract rules and the constitution. At some stations they might accomplish that by keeping the TWU/IAM officers out but that will be challenged by the members here if the job they do does not change the status quo we have had here for so long.

I know I have told you this is NOT AMFA's Card drive it is the employees of AA that are looking for a change in representation. That is How the NMB looks at it.

I am Hopeful that within the next 30 days you will here that we have filed our cards with the NMB and awaiting a Ballot from them to remove this ASSociation as the Bargaining Unit for the M&R employees of AA.

AMFA@AA2020

I hear ya loud and clear.
I'm in hopes of hearing you guys filing shortly after the election in Nov.
It is obvious that the asso camp is getting nervous with the number of cards flying, so now is the time guys to get that last rush of cards in for the organizers to organize and prep for a filing/request to the NMB.

Listen All! I was just joking that Gary Peterson was angry when he made his video.....Maybe that didn't come across. My apologies! When you have the Head of the TWU making a video expressing "Shock" that the AMT's at AA could even entertain jumping ship to AMFA because "Look at everything we've done for you and this is how you repay us" attitude, then Gary expressing his "bravado" over AMFA for backing out of a deal not to go after AA mechanics completely smacks of desperation on their part, as some on this board have alluded. The time to file is nearing......The TWU can hear the footsteps!

Actually Gary Peterson is a liar. AMFA DID NOT raid the AA mechanics, and you know this as well. Bret never made a deal with the TWU or the IAM or this asso. He simply told him AMFA National does not have an organizing cmte to do any raids, as they call it. It is in fact the mechanic and related employees at AA that are doing the grass roots card collecting to try and get a vote to bring AMFA in as their class and craft representational organization.
I can assure you I have asked Bret as well as our other National leaders to pls step in and help the AA'ers in their efforts to gain representation by AMFA, and they all have told me that they cannot and will not until the employees have collected the number of cards needed. So until they get the cards needed, AMFA National has nothing to do with the card collections and drives.
Paul Too, I saw Petersons video, and believe me, he is and was pissed off. He also lied knowing anything about an AMFA card drive when in past numerous videos he has mentioned it as well as tried to argue points why the membership should not leave the asso with the Pensions, medical, and outsourcing only to mention a few. He was at one time a big AMFA supporter until the union handed him a position to shut him up permanently and that is how this industrial union handles all their officers that even think about supporting AMFA in order to shut them up.
Now lets breakdown this "deal" that Peterson says they made between the asso and AMFA, hmmmm. Why would there even be a need to make such a deal? Yea, what is the TWU/IAM so afraid of from AMFA?? Why in the world would Peterson go out of his way in order to make a deal with AMFA to not "raid" (as he puts it) his membership??? Really think about this, he and they are so concerned about losing to AMFA as they have over 4 times as of lately and just can't handle another loss to AMFA. Remember back when the employees did the last card drive, Peterson promised to change the industrial unions ways and start running it like AMFA does with observers, elections and more voting by membership, which NEVER came to fruition, not even came close, then all got real quiet after they missed the chance to get a vote last time and still no changes. A classic way they will promise all kinds of changes if the membership keeps AMFA out, but it's all lies in order to keep the membership under their puppet strings, and yes you all will hear the same ole promises again. The time is coming and it's time to step up and do something for your class and craft just like the Pilots, F/A's, Dispatchers and other groups have...

AMFA@AA2020!!!

Will IAM mechanics continue to gain contributions to their pension should the AMFA raid be successful?

Will IAM mechanics continue to gain contributions to their pension should the AMFA raid be successful?

JimmyBop;

In the previous card drives at LUS (USAir) the IAM stance on this was that if the employee was NO LONGER represented by the IAM they (the IAM) would no longer manage the pension for those represented employees. The IAM also said in a letter to the M&R employees that they would tell AA that they would NOT accept any further money into those employees accounts at the time AMFA became the bargaining unit for those employees.

Any money that they have within the PBGC that was previous company defined pension plan will be there as well. They will be able to draw on that with the parameters set with the pension at the time it went to the PBGC.

The Pension Fund is a UNION Pension, it does however have members of the Company that sit on the Pension Board. The PENSION CAN'T BE LOST NO MATTER WHAT. "YES" it could be reduce because that is one of the rules set in the fund to maintain its solidity. It may get frozen now, How they will do that will have to get worked out. I assume at that point those LUS air M&R employees who at that point represented by AMFA will go to our 401k plan.

I hopes that this information helps you.

SWA-AMFA-ALR MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

October 8, 2020

To All AMFA Members at Southwest Airlines:

Today, October 8, 2020, your Airline Representatives (ALR) and legal counsel attended an online meeting with the Company at the request of Southwest Airlines (SWA). As you may have seen or heard from Gary Kelly this week, SWA is seeking concessions from its union-represented employees, thus prompting today’s meeting. We denied the Company’s request to sign non-disclosure agreements prior to this meeting that request because you – as AMFA members and Southwest employees -- deserve to know what is going on, especially when the Company seeks to extract concessions from your contracts.

The Company presented a formal request of a ten percent (10%) reduction to base wages and premiums for every group AMFA represents at SWA, to begin January 1, 2021, and run through the entire year. In addition, any step or annual raises would be frozen during that same period. The Company indicated, if accepted, it would not furlough any AMFA member or seek additional concessions. Unfortunately, that promise rang hollow when it was immediately qualified with “barring unforeseen or uncontrollable circumstances.”

AMFA is willing to engage in discussions with the Company aimed to identify possible cost saving measures that do not require concessions to our contracts, which have been earned by your sweat equity over many years at SWA. The Company continues to outsource large amounts of your work to vendors; therefore, we should focus on reducing costs by bringing that work back to the Southwest family where our members stand ready, willing, and able to show just how productive we are. Collaborative solutions such as these will prove more valuable than empty asks for fixed percentage reductions to our compensation.

Yesterday, Gary Kelly sent a letter to union representatives in which he, prior to formally requesting concessions, attempted to blame the unions for any WARN Act notices he may decide to send. Mr. Kelly asked the unions to keep concession negotiations “simple, move swiftly, and give our People a chance to vote.” He went on to say, “absent that, you are choosing to send WARN notices to our People on November 1.” It is the CEO and his senior management that will decide whether or not to send Southwest employees WARN Act Notices, not the respective unions.

We are not interested in concessions to our contracts. We will, however, engage with the Company to consider cost saving measures while protecting your contracts in the face of requests for concessions. We will defend and enforce all three AMFA contracts at SWA, which each contain language restricting any reduction in force of our members while Southwest continues to outsource your work. The solidarity of our members, especially during these times, is our strength.

In Solidarity,

Your AMFA–SWA Airline Representatives
