AMFA Drive started in Tulsa ?

I guess I struck a nerve based on the response to some of my comments.

Just for your information, I'm an AMT with more than 40 years seniority so I'm very familiar with AMFA's philosophy of looking down on Overhaul Mechanics as second class citizens compared to Line AMT's. I've heard it expressed many times by Dell who founded the AMFA with Manchester and who I spoke to personally when he tried to convince me to join their organization. His statement at the time was "we're professionals, and once we separate ourselves from the other classifications, American will pay us accordingly". His words not mine. If any of you believe that one I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to show you.

Also, I did not change my user name and I have nothing but the highest respect for the SWA AMT's although you may disagree but then that's your prerogative. If you have a problem with that then deal with it.

Sorry, calling BS on your 40 yr seniority.

Every 40 yr. guy that I know still hasn't even heard of the internet yet.

Funny how the AMFA drive was started in Tulsa. A overhaul base. So much for your theory. Opps I meant FEAR!!
AMP was also started in Tulsa. Could be there is just to many in Tulsa who are just set in there ways and refuse to change.

Would suck to have to generate multiple user names to obtain the perception of support.
Would suck to only be on the property by adding dead, retired, and resigned to a list to prevent an election.
Would suck to have to recruit another organization to dilute the membership will to change and call it an alliance.
Would suck to know you are so worthless and company oriented that you cannot just publish your own industry record for support of members.

Would suck to be like the TWU and it's supporters.
A world of deception, lies, corruption, and suppression of free will.

Would suck even worse to get the Karma back that this type of crap will generate.

I'll try to address some of issues that have been raised:

I said I had a lot of respect for SWA AMT's because they earn what they get paid. I've spent many years seeing some of our guys dragging their feet and when management was challenged, told us to leave them alone, they're doing a good job as long as the plane gets out in the morning. There’s no question managements part of the problem. It's been suggested on this board but you know that too if you work the floor and you're honest with yourself.

What I said about AMFA not recognizing Overhaul as being equal to Line Maintenance is true. If it wasn't for their needing more cards signed we wouldn't be having this conversation. You may not know it but in the current negotiations some Line Maint. Local President tried to segregate Line Maint from Overhaul by forcing them into a separate contract book. Regardless of what they may say now, when added to AMFA's history of lukewarm support for Overhaul, does that sound like we would be on an even playing field to you? It certainly doesn't to me. In fact, a Line Maint. President implied at a membership meeting recently that Overhaul tends to drag down Line Maintenance. Are you getting the picture? If you don't know that, you don't have a clue about what's really going on.

I know there are a variety of viewpoints among us based on our own personal experiences. I’m expressing mine after swinging wrenches for 40 years. Is everything perfect - of course not. Can it be improved - I believe it can, but not if the members are relying on someone like the AMFA to do the job for them. My past experience with AMFA has convinced me they can’t do a thing. The SWA contract was inherited and all they’ve done since then is keep extending it with a few adjustments such as outsourcing Maintenance to El Salvador (Southwest Airlines, the nation's leading discount carrier flying only domestic routes, has begun heavy maintenance of some of its Boeing 737 fleet in El Salvador, company executives said Thursday. Under agreements with its Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), Southwest on Wednesday flew its first 737 to Aeroman, an El Salvador-based maintenance, repair and overhaul facility).

Also, there’s a little story about Alaska Airlines I could share with you but that can wait until another day.

Good luck to all of you. Fighting for our survival in Bankruptcy Court we’re going to need it.

As for Comatose and “Horton Hears A Who”, if you can’t say something intelligent, wait until you can.

Realityck, same tired logic as always from the TWU tards. Blame the membership, yada yada - you know what.. STFU! You're an angry old TROLL - why don't you just retire. We have lived with your politically correct, communist wealth redistribution system long enough. Your posts are almost identical to overspeed's....same twisted logic, same examples, same excuses.....could it be?

I'll try to address some of issues that have been raised:

How about you address this issue?

What is your plan or solution?

Why is it every TWU sympathizer plays a victim of some kind?
Is it low or zero self esteem?
Is it Fear?
What is that?

Question for Realityck.

What company did you work for when you were represented by AMFA?

And for how many years have you personally been represented by AMFA?

I've always worked as an AMT for AA and was never represented by AMFA although I'm very familiar with their pitch after hearing it for most of my career. I originally got it personally from the horses mouth (Delle). It would seem to resurface about every 5 to 6 years and the story never changed. His sidekick Manchester eventually got into a falling out with Delle and worked for the IBT for a while although that was years ago, and the last I heard about him.

I always followed the industry ever since I became a shop steward although that was a long time ago. I was also involved in the 21 day strike in 1969 and been suspended for "alleged job actions" with other AMTs. I know you may not understand this but I've earned my stripes as they say so I feel I have a right to my viewpoint even though you feel the need to attack me for my views. I've always believed that truth is a powerful weapon and based on your reaction to my comments, I know that's true.

You sound like a sincere guy and I'm sure your a great AMT.

However we had enough of TWu and our choice of a union to replace them is AMFA.

There are people on this board right now that are currently represented by AMFA and they are really happy with them. They also are saying all AMT's are treated the same.

So we will vote in AMFA. You may be right I don't know, but the bottom line is that it doesn't matter. TWu will be history and AMFA will represent us.

Sorry old timer, you old TWU guard types have had it you way far too long. The curtain has been lifted, Jim Little has been exposed for the phoney he really is! Let us not forget the rest of the TWU international taking huge annual raises, flying on A passes, using the union credit cards for frivolous items, all the while driving a union leased car. If that isn't a slap in the face of every member, I don't know what is. There is your "elitism". All this BS going on under the guise of representing AMTs - and look what we got. AMTs at AA are the red headed step children of the TWU. Look at the evidence, AA AMTs are the lowest paid in the industry - bar none! We soon will enjoy benefits that absolutely suck. On the other hand, the rest of the TWU groups are all at least in the middle or near the top in pay when compared to their peers at other airlines. No surprise they voted yes on the LBO. I fully expect the TWU to attempt to repackage that POS LBO and sell it next week. They will study the demographics of the voters, and they will rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic to attempt to overcome that 1200 NO vote difference. It's gonna be another NO. It will also help fuel the AMFA card drive!

Realityck

So if you tenure is as you say and I have no reason to doubt you, then are you of the TWU membership that started the B-Scale?

The B-Scale was the beginning of the downfall of the AMT's. I got mine brother and Brother, you knew what you were getting when you walked in the door, unionism.

Why don't you explain the reasoning behind the start of the dissatisfaction of the TWU.?

I have no time to argue with you but I do find it interesting you come in with the exact same stories that overspeed just told us last week on two or three forums and as i said to him what happened at Pan AM and Eastern Plus where are the 3000 Mechanics that we got from TWA the fact is every union has had its wins and losses you only remember AMFA's, hell the IAM once represented the majority of Mechanics in the industry where are they today? you are most likely on the twu or teamsters payroll.

You are 100% correct!!!
