"After a few days, Parker blinked and made the call. All's well now, it seems. New boundaries are in place. It's a new day."

Calling Mr Parker childish, does not solve anyones problems during these most difficult times.

IMO

No, but it is a pretty accurate assessment of our "management's" record in both their ability and actions. Punks are punks regardless of the "times".

Did USAPA have a vote on whether the membership wanted to be portrayed as petty idiots ("My Prime Minister will call your Prime Minister")? How many votes have actually occured so far?

Less than 693 Days until the next representation election.

Doug owes Bradford a debt of gratitude for finally handing him a non-union airline. A phone call is the least he can do.

Doug will be given a non-union list in the near future. ;) Then Bradford will owe Doug a debt of gratitude for handing him a union airline.

You are entitled to that characterization. 2700 of us (the majority, by the way) see it differently.

Less than 693 Days until the next representation election.

Ho hum. 2700 of us (the majority, by the way) will still be here in 693 days. There's 2700 representational elections requests you will not get. (The majority, by the way.) I won't go so far as to parrot the classic westie "you won't get 200 ballots," but you certainly won't get 50% +1.

There will be no representational election in 693 days, assuming a stand-alone carrier (doubtful) and assuming US Airways will even continue to exist (doubtful with the price of oil.)

You're probably right. And I'd also expect that the AWAPPA supporters will carry Bradford on there shoulders through the terminal to give him a hero's welcome for delivering an industry-leading contract in the 2 months he promised.

But really, how many things have you been given the opportunity to vote on so far? The USAPA officer's pension?

Show me where he PROMISED that. Or anything for THAT matter. You guys can't make your case without stretching the truth (i.e. lies). Plus, you throw every road block you can at the new union.

You may as well get on board. You'll be paying dues (or close to it) soon enough!

Might save some happy, hard working East guys from furlough. You can bet that cuts are coming. Sure would save the company a lot of moolah if they didn't have to pay furlough pay!

Personally, I hope a bunch of the hateful, unhappy Westies DON'T pay up. Might save some happy, hard working East guys from furlough. You can bet that cuts are coming. Sure would save the company a lot of moolah if they didn't have to pay furlough pay!

Not only that, but USAPA may decide it needs to help the company in this time of crisis and give tacit approval to the November, 2005, Hemenway letter. The company already thinks it can use LOA 93 for the entire pilot group (per that Hemenway letter.) Without objection from the union, why not? For the east it would simply be business as usual. And think how much money the company would save in this time of need.

The easties have been demanding equal pay for equal work. Maybe USAPA and the company will finally agree on how to accomplish it in the short term.

(N.B. - Only members in good standing get to vote. Keep that dues money in your pocket. Have you heard the term: "Pissing into the wind"?)

That would be a major dispute, you cant change the status quo, especially since the West is in Section 6.

And if Hemenway was correct, dont you think all the unions would have been put under the current CBAs instead of having to negotiate transition agreements?

Look at all the mergers US has been involved with, every single one had to negotiate a transition agreement.

And Hemenway is the one who thought he could farm out the airbus work too, and you saw the IAM won that case.

Because the subsequent DFR would kill USAPA.

Well, that's a good selling point for the new union - lowering the bar out of spite. I can see how that would appeal to the UA pilots.
