thanks!   are the C checks done every couple of yrs?  and what does it involve
generally they are done 18-24 months on the bus (big and little bus)
At Delta they are normally 7-11 day visits now(little bus, no idea on the big bus). Most of the panels on the outside come off, lube job, some engine work (mostly things like filter changes) a lot of inspection work done. New carpet/ galley floors. the side walls (or most of them) come out for repair. Hydro/Landing gears checks and work.  Seems like there will be a mod or two in there.

Robbed,
Should ask an US AMT too about C checks. AA is switching to their program. I heard all LCs except every 7th LC is done in the line as part of phased packages to be completed every 24 months. Sounds like less NB LC work for the base and more work for the line.

What is the "typical" staffing required to get this done over the 7-11 days?

generally our c-check lines require 100 or so people per line. That is ASM/AMT/Leads/inspection and bay management. True front line labor it isn't exactly the same bay to bay but for example when they opened up the 330 c-checks in MSP they added around 70 front line employees for those checks.

and that staffing is mostly spread out during the day/night. Atlanta is 24/7 in the hangar.

Attack?? Hardly, pointing out issues.

514 work? No. TWU work. Since the company is breaking the baby bus to phased C then it will become work done in the line. Line versus base?

Local's money. Read the constitution if any union. The parent organization has a fiduciary responsibility for all monies and assets. The parent has. The right to put locals in receivership to prevent funds from being mismanaged or in a way that goes against its bylaws. Seeing the parent organization with local funds I believe is a violation but Lombardo must be focused on other things.

I see that you know a lot about things that don't have anything to do with how rules and regulations work.
If a grievance was won who would get paid? Did you get any of that 757 settlement? The fact is that under our program we do B-checks, normally an 8 hour check.

The contract does recognize that there is a difference between line work and OH work now with the deal you voted for. It clearly states that outsourced Line maint is capped at 15% of spend and in total 35% can be outsourced.  We have never done "phase checks" so we have no claim to it at this time.

The members of 565 voted to sue the International, but you say that we should not have,  the members have not brought up anything as far as greiving OH work thats been outsourced but you claim we should spend the members money on that.

AH, but the line between overhaul and line work has now been blurred at DWH. We do both but are compensated at overhaul rates.

Bob,
No I did not get any of the 757 grievance. I worked for AA and that aircraft was under the AA Block C program. We are talking about 319s so focus. The 319 is in a PC program and Block C and changing per my discussion with Mosblech to a LUS type phase program which will not have any LC checks done in the base. It will be called a Phase Check like LUS does now on the line. So again, when will 592 file a 29d to get DFW that money for those 319 Phase Checks that should be done in the line and 514 can file a grievance for the 319 Block Cs that are normally done in a base environment. Show us that infamous Bob Owens fight for line jobs!

The contract never classified work as specifically line or base work. It classified the 8 types of work but never what work belongs where. Don't you remember doing C Check cards on the BCs at AA when they tried to shift some cards out of the base to the line? It was still TWU work so no grievance. The letters on the checks don't determine the content of the check and where its done.

Where are we on the 15%? Has anyone seen the number? With all the work done in Brazil you'd think they are close. Who on the TWU side is monitoring it. Shouldn't someone on the TWU side been informed of work movement to a vendor?

No you can sue the Int'l just seems wrong that you can do it with TWU dues money. And it is your fiduciary responsibility to spend dues money to enforce the contract. Holy crap you do know that is the primary duty of the officers and reps to negotiate and enforce the contract with our dues money?

The term BC will be gone soon once all aircraft are go to the LUS programs. Then what? No BCs because they are broken up in to Phase Checks.

When is the next election? The old 561 guys seem to have their sh*t together. My MIA contacts tell me that Rojas, Knapp, Rivera, and Olsen seem to have a good working relationship with management. I hope they run. We need a change to people who get stuff done and don't blame others for their ineffectiveness and incompetence.

Bob,
It is the members' money. TWU members money and like any organization we are guided under rules and regulations. Read the Constitution Bob, it states clearly that all money and assets are property of the TWU and its membership. Not just the members of 591.By invoking it's the "members money" does not make your actions justified.

Simply put you feel you should be able to do whatever you want as long as it fits within your belief system. It's not really about the members with you Bob, it's about what benefits you and the members second. We all understand that.

Heard you had to bring Olsen on to help you because you are getting behind on your duties. Too many lawsuits and blogging sucking up your time? All the more reason to vote Olsen in as Treasurer since he obviously can do the job.

Rojas, Knapp, and Olsen for 591 officers. They put the members first, ego second.

The members of 591 give a 30% to the International and 70% to the Local. That 70% should be used for 591 not 514.

I think Glenn would make an excellent Treasurer, and thats why I asked him to assist me. I'm greatful he agreed to help. Local 514 has at least three people assisting the Treasurer and they do not have legacy issues or payroll in 18 different states where people live in one state and work in another to deal with. The only time I spend on the lawsuits its when they are discussed in the EB meetings and when I write the checks. Blogging I enjoy, and mostly do it on my weekends, when traveling or after dinner.

Rojas and Knapp are officers of 591 and I agree that all three put the members first. If Olsen or Inman put in for Treasurer next year I won't.

I ran for this position because I was the only one of the Presidents that had experience as a Treasurer starting a Local, I did it with Local 562 back in 1999. Still this was a much bigger job, much more complicated and I also had the added burdens of closing up the old Locals and dealing with the forensic audit the International decided to do as well all at the same time. I never assumed this job to be a career change or an entitlement but for some reason you seem to feel that the loss of this job is something I dread. I took this job as a means of thwarting TeAAm Videtich. As far as when I go back to the floor, I'm number 8 out of over 300 mechanics at JFK. I can pretty much get whatever I want, go back to two doubles and a single and make as much as I am now and have a lot more time to blog and do other things. So I'm with ya, Olsen for Treasurer, if he wants it.
