What's new

AFA now compliance police

Ok, I get it. Its not a check ride. BUt let me say this, we are always complaining about reserve issues, meanwhile, our reserve chair is going to be spending her time flying around giving us advice and "helping us" with inflight issues. SHe will have the luxury of making her own schedule. Flying when she wants and not being on call for 24/7. and not living on 73 hours pay. What reserve issues? We have none.
well then you need to address that to her personally. why don't you call her and ask her what she intends to do instead of posting about her on this board?

To further clarify: There is no advice given and no 'helping us' with inflight issues. You sit in a middle seat for the duration of the flight and fill in little ovals with a number two pencil--just like taking an exam on a scantron.

I would etops but she would have to ask grace who would ask mc corkle and this all would take 15 mins of my cell phone mins. All this for none of them to have the answer or say they will get back to me but they never do.

Depends, the Inflight Service Coach does a debrief. Again, non-punative.

Observation riders do not do a debrief.

Would just depend on what position she has.

There are two types "people" in this program. Observation Riders and Observation Coaches. The Coaches will introduce themselves to flight attendants and critique performance. The rider will do what is stated above. Yeah...what Zarah said.

I forgot to mention, that you're "supposed" to debrief if there was a safety infraction (which there always is, e.g. non-safety-related ground movements)

Some F/As took this position really seriously and had a power trip over it.

you people need to get your facts straight before you post things you do not know about. she is an inflight standards coach and by no means is that a checkrider . it is a NON PUNITIVE position. they are there to HELP the crew members out incase they have any questions about the service or other things that might make the job a little easier. they will collecting data on what is wrong with the inflight service and sending it back to inflight anonimously . meaning that the form they fill out will not have flt numbers nor crew names. the inflight standards coach will show the form to the crew when they identify themselves as an inflight standards coach before the flt . they will occupy a pax seat. if the crew accepts the help in the inflight service during flt ,they will be happy to help. if not then the isc will stay out of your way. keep in mind that these isc's went through a challenging interview process . out of 250 that applied only 30 were accepted. they are knowledgable in policies and procedures safety procedures and in what is going on with the company good or bad. they will be focusing more on what is being done right by our f/a not on what's being done wrong. please give them your respect . once again , they are there to help. they are not there to write anyone up. that is not their job. one more thing. the isc will be in full uniform .

Challenging? Surely you jest??

etops, sounds like an intense program. I wish the coaches best of luck but, can you comment on what you think about a union offical in this position. With all the issues facing AFA one has time to do this? This group voted Omar in to represent them for AFA and Mc Corkle appointed her rsv chair. That is her first priority imo.
Did you apply?

Doesnt matter IMO, I dont need someone that is a union rep "telling me about myself". SHe needs to be in the office working on union issues. Thats whats she is getting paid for. She obviously isnt doing that effectively so what makes us, as her peers, think she has soooo much time on her hands that she can fly around informing us of inflight standards. give me a break.

I don't need ANYBODY telling me about my self or how to do my job.

What the company needs to do is PICK what service they want to do and have both East and West do it. Send us to a class for a day and THAT IS IT!!!!! I don't need to be followed or "observed".

I don't think I need coached on how to crack open a can of coke!

I was actually going to do this, but things came up and I couldn't attend................thank God!!

The more I read and hear the more pathetic this whole thing is.

I agree with observation rides for safety issues, but NOT about inflight service.

Actually, they do or at least they used to. I used to do them and depbrief was required so you knew what you did wrong. Of course, you had to put a "positve spin" on it.

i cannot coment on omar's position . what do i think? if omar can do both jobs proffesionaly then so be it. if it interferes with her job as reserve chair then i think she should reconsider. but only if it gets in the way. . that is just my opinion. did i apply ? yes i did. you will see me out there but def not writing people up. that is def not my style . i will be there to help. not to look over anyones shoulders . i hope i do not make any enemies by doing this. that is not my intention nor is the other isc's intentions. once again we are there to help.
