What's new

AFA now compliance police

LMAO....it's always the ones that need no help or coaching, that usually need the help and coaching.

just a general statement TB, not saying it applies here, 'cause I dont know you.

🙄 You guys have it messed up! The inflight standards coach program is a working FA, from what I understand from my focus group meeting. The FA sits in the pax seat less of the time and works the flight with the crew most of the time. They don't take the jumpseat at all. From what they explained to us in our meeting, here is what i remember:

They only keep track of procedures that are being followed and not being followed so the company knows which areas need attention. 🙄 They said, they will track it BUT NOBODY GETS IN TROUBLE..EVER!! This was a big deal in the focus group. NO FA IS EVER IN A POSITION TO GET SOMEONE WRITTEN UP . They made that very clear. This has been going on in the West for years and nobody has ever been written up, there are no names, no flight numbers..company only wants data. 🙄

The "coaching" is just a name, they are generally people that are pretty up on information about the company and procedures and are a resource. That's all. I know a few people in the west that do it and they are pretty cool and they help out a lot on the flights

If they hire more people in the West, then I will think about it. As far as I'm concerned, this person you are talking about can easily do both things....it helps the all fa's reserves and blockholders.

Now excuse me but I have a turkey to bake!!!

Ok, I get it. Its not a check ride. BUt let me say this, we are always complaining about reserve issues, meanwhile, our reserve chair is going to be spending her time flying around giving us advice and "helping us" with inflight issues. SHe will have the luxury of making her own schedule. Flying when she wants and not being on call for 24/7. and not living on 73 hours pay. What reserve issues? We have none.
So what??!!? Omar is great at what she does, and this does not seem like any conflict of interest to me. Why shouldn't she be flying around making sure we are in compliance? Should the AFA not have a hand in that? Dam right they should! I would rather have an AFA elected official out there with us being PROACTIVE (offering suggestions to avoid mgmt punishment) rather than simply defending the select few who constantly screw up. (And we all know who they are....) She will defend you no matter what, but I appreciate the fact that the AFA has input into this matter and Omar is great for the job. We don't even know exactly what she will be doing, if it is true, and you are all hanging her. You are all prematurely overreacting once again....

LUXURY? You think working in that union office as the RESERVE chair, with this LTO system, is a LUXURY? You are demonstrating your ignorance for all to see.... Bury your head in the sand a little deeper, lady.... 🙄 I am sure she ran for Reserve chair and spends countless hours in that office because she doesn't want to fly. Have you ever not been able to reach her? Channel your anger at the reserve system where it belongs: the company. They have told AFA flat out, many times, that they are not interested in RSV relief until a new contract is negotiated. But don't let any facts bog your rants down.

Further, wear your uniform as it is supposed to be worn, and you won't have a problem.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

sky high states: PUT THE "SERVICE PROCEDURE" BACK ON THE MANIFEST. GO OVER IT IN THE PREFLIGHT BRIEFING. .............AND FOLLOW IT!!!

The company should just save their money. What good does having these people on there do anyway? I mean come on. Everyone that works here knows what they are supposed to be donig and if they are not doing it properly, it because they chose not to do it. Just beause you have another flight attendant telling you that you did it wrong, does not mean you will do it properly. Let's face it, most of these f/a's doing these speical assignments are maagement suck ups that just want to get out of flying anyway.

Exactly. So let's have supervisors doing check rides or gate checks, and simply removing non- compliant flight attendants from their trip without pay. Give them a chance right there at the gate to make it compliant. If they can't, see ya! What's so hard about that? At least the OPR's/ RSV's would be utilized more.

It is a uniform. Plain and simple. Quite easy, really. You can't find one or two pieces that makes you comfortable enough to wear it the correct way? Well, up the Dependability ladder you go then. This is not hard, people. Not hard at all.

I believe Bill Lehmans wife is also doing this?????

we just got an e-mail from our focus group and mgmt is asking us to give them our feedback on what things that are in the Policies and procedures manual should we have access to on the aircraft  Service procedures, um stuff, things like that are on a list so they can publish a small handbook or something  They said something like a "brochure" , i take that as something simple, small and easy to carry if you want. Focus group sounds like it's making a difference.

Yes quite a difference. Paying all of those people to come up with soulutions and we get a brochure. Talk about some meaningful change. Again to my point where managment does not want to look at the real issues that matter to us, but hey look, we made a brochure.

I know what you mean, but I think the idea is not give anything too big that FA's won't want to carry..like the manual! I'm all for something small and compact so I can use it.."brochure" is probably not the best word for it, just a small reference thing. (by the way, "iwantout", you kinda sound angry  "

Some years ago, we had flip charts for the 767 and 330 that weren't much bigger than 3 x 5's that outlined service procedures that you could just clip to the galley wall. They were a big help for me because I don't fly those aircraft often. I still have them.

Something of that nature would be useful.

who is bill lehman?

He was a former VP for council 66, then was elected president but didn't finish his term. He was forced to resign under the pressure of a recall campaign when members found out he was making all sorts of added income via inappropriate expense reports as well as double dipping. A huge recall campaign was started and he resigned before he could be recalled. Formal charges were filed against him with international over the fiscal issues and he was found guilty on some of the charges and forced to pay back money. Let's just say this fellow "speaks with a forked tongue."

The kicker? He's planning on running for president again and must think that the members of council 66 have short memories, but we don't. We have not forgotten and if he does in fact run he better put on a flak jacket, because the anti-Lehman campaign that will come out will make the previous recall effort look like a walk in the park.

So, as you can see, union dysfunctionalism is alive and well in the west!
