AA begins FA recalls

It will be interesting to see how far down the list they have to go to get all 200.
You misunderstood the numbers. The 200 is the number of recall notices which are being sent, not the number that the airline expects to return to work.

From Lauri Curtis' hotline message:
We do not expect to recall additional flight attendants based on non-acceptance, as a modest rate of rejection was calculated into the offer of re-employment.

Now it is revealed by THB that AA only needs 75 F/As. We shall see how this pans out, I think they are going to get a lot more than they think based upon the excitement this is generating for my spouse and her friends.

I would like to think this will be the end of the Co referring to the AA furloughed as "the former TWA f/as". AA we have been AA f/as since the acquisition. I was not furloughed as a former TWA f/a and I did not retire as a former TWA f/a. I was a furloughed AA f/a and I am now a retired AA f/a.

I can't tell you how pleased I am that there has been a recall. :D :D :D (And, that has nothing to do with the fact that it proves that I was right when I said a year ago that there was no way they could go until 7-08 with no recalls. Really. I'm not being smug. Really. )

I'm now going out on a limb and say that I think there will be at least one more recall before July of next year if not two. We can always hope.

Let me know when you start training in Dallas. Maybe I can come by on a day off and take some of you to lunch or something. I take that back. I will be moving into my new house in Dallas over the next month (2-on,2-off line doesn't allow for sustained moving effort). When you start training, there will be a party at my house.

I know you're not talking to me Jim...lol I retired 2 years ago. Now my feelings will be very hurt if you have lunch with the recalls before we meet...Thanksgiving is 6 months away, but you know you have a standing invite...

You mean APFA isn't going to have a dinner for these folks? APA had a welcome back dinner paid for by the union. At the very least, our "union" could piggy back off the free food they should get from AA while in training.

Now we know that in AAmericanese MODEST means 62.5%.

Do not assume that the company and the union are on the same page--particularly if you are expecting information from the APFA to be accurate. That's setting yourself up for disappointment.

Now, Nancy. You know full well that if I can pull off this party thing by then, you are invited. If you don't have enough retiree travel "vouchers" you can always use one of my D3s to come to Dallas.

This recall will include a small number of former TWA FAs who were never trained to on AA aircraft under the AA operating authority. Has anyone heard what type of qualification training they will have to go through. Is it possible that the FAA is going to require the full new-hire course since they haven't flown in almost 5 years?

I don't know how long the training will last, but the returning former TW f/as will be trained on the S80, 737, 757, and 767. They are already "trained" on the 752, but since the last of them is supposed to be gone by Sept, they probably won't have to fly those at all because I don't think they are used very much in the bases they will be going to. Also, any of those recalled who were previously qualified on the A300 or 777, will have to stay an extra day in training to requal on those a/c.

I think the S80 training is due to the fact that they have been changed a great deal in the past 4 years--different galleys, seating configs, safety equipment location, etc.

This is GREAT news indeed. Hope the Holiday push and manning necessitate a second 07 recall around OCT...? Then again in early 08...etc...

Thats my hope....lets all keep our fingers crossed..!!!

WELCOME BACK AA BROS' AND SIS'....ITS BEEN TOOOO LONG!!

I cant wait to fly with you, I know you will all add only class and depth to our work group.....

Although I'm nowhere near being recalled, my rights are over October of this year, I know a few people from the last two classes (2001-06 & 2001-07) that will be returning with this recall. I'm excited for them, nice to see some of us, both AA & TWA FA's, will be getting a chance to come back.

Congrats Guys & Gals!

I for one will definitely go back. I know of 3 others in class 2001-07 will go back. Four others currently at JetBlue are thinking about it. One at Continental(surprised his name is still on the recall list) and one at United, I dont' know what there decision will be.Another one is making tons of money in real estate and does not want to come back. So, out of the 98 AAers, I know for sure 5 people are returning.

Thanks to Jim Pass for his continuing support on this board of the furloughees and his belief that some of us would get called back. I also thank my best friend, Brian, at United, who discrouaged me from going over there in 05. Had I given up my recall rights, I'd be kicking myself now.

Received the APFA Hotline about this in my email inbox at 1215p...congrats and here's hoping for even more recalls.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

This TWA recall is symbolic at the very least(You guys know where I have ALWAYS stood, meaning a "ratio" should have been offered), BUT again, at least the "certainty" that TWAers would NEVER be recalled, has(thankfully) be shattered !!!!!!

I'm(cautiously) optimistic that MORE will become Reality.

Kirkpatric, what # are you ??????

NH/BB's

Latest information indicates that almost all, but for a very small few, returnees will go to LGA.

Or anyone who flew out of Flight Wing One or Two once upon a time. ;)

Flew out of.... vs. a part of ....... totally different levels my friend.

Like eating a 'slice ' in the mid-west.

It'll never happen.........

Hope everyone gets back to the ' dark side ' ...soon.

May the force be with you.........

I spent four years in that building, does that count?

You should try deep dish in Chicago, better than some of the greasy sh!t you'll find out here. ;)

And to quote Vader, "You don't know the power of the Dark Side..."
