AA and Labor Negotiations-2020

As I looked at the highlight sheet do I think this is a great offer, no I do not. Do I think the offer is terrible, no I do not. It is mediocre at best, but do I believe the ASS can do any better if we send it back, absolutely not. Most of us here are at are peak earning years before retirement and time starts to become our enemy. If this was sent back 3 1/2 years ago I would probably vote no and send it back to try to get more, but after waiting all this time combined with how dysfunctional our representation is I have ZERO faith we could get anything better.

This is just my opinion I hope everyone votes for what is best for them.
On its face just reading the highlights, remember, the devil is in the details. But, any mechanic that talks about voting it down hasn't done or doesn't know how,, to do the math.

The downer is, the bonus is short, but not worth sending them back and waiting.

Vote the thing in and then, lets focus on keeping the cards coming and lets vote these guys out.

Most comments I read from IAM folks (not necessarily here) are in favor of it and it's a "yes", I can't figure that one out (sarcasm)
On the other hand, many comments from the TWU side are frustrated with it and realize they got the shaft but, more say yes than no from just my observation...Collectively, both admit that what the Association stated their goal was, to form one voice and get an industry leading contract was a huge fail, on both ends. They did not attain an industry leader, and we are more divided now than ever before.

Just to add and piggy back off of NYer, some of you folks think you are gonna be raking in the dough like Delta on their type of Profit sharing,
there are going to be some extremely disappointed employees when profit sharing rolls around and you see the disparity between AA and Delta.
Just shows the magnitude of what the TWU did in agreeing to this Association. A total sell out. Not only that, but the TWU continued to not look out for their members through the process. They will pay for this down the road as I think the AMT's should have more ammunition for their card drive.

i agree 100% thats my predicament. do i take the money and run or stand my ground?
are you lus or laa? have you signed a card for amfa and are you interested in signing a card? there can actually be two votes for change...one for the ta one for representation.
LAA I have been an AMFA supporter since the late 90s and I have signed a card. You are right its a predicament, I feel the same way. I was pissed when I first read the highlights it does appear to me that we have waited all this time just to advance the IAM position, today I tried to look at it more logically without the emotion. There are 2 roads to go down here vote no and gamble that the ASS will get us something better, vote yes and take the improvements as they are, I guess if I was younger I might roll the dice on something better, but I've lost so many of my working years to bad contracts that the safe bet is to take the money and hopefully get AMFA, which I am the most excited about this drive than all the others before, but is still not a sure thing either.

They could not help the drive any more if they tried.

The biggest disappointment is both sides promised an ILC. Dragged on over four years and now this is what they present to the membership. The highlights are just that. You are correct, the devil is in the details. Sadly it will pass for those that are a NO vote. My guess is that the major points of the proposal didn't change much in the last two or three years. We were all jerked around for that time. I told guys at work whether you vote NO or don't vote at all it will pass. The association always makes sure they have their way. Remember the vote we were promised by the NMB that never happened? This too will pass because the association will make it happen. I'll wait for the full text to come my way. Regardless the card drive will move forward because one has nothing to do with the other. Accept the JCBA coming and sign a card if your Title 1 and 2.

Right now I'm pretty much in agreement with everything you're saying. Words of wisdom. I wasn't pissed when I saw it, I was disappointed by the signing bonus. I have my own number that I thought was acceptable, 6k isn't it. But, as I previously said, not worth sending them back over.

Yes, send them back to screw things up even more. That's what I've started to tell guys at work. We got screwed and going back will make it worse. The 1989 contract was exactly that way. Tough spot to be in if your expecting better. It won't happen.

Agree, the ONLY way the association could sweeten it for M&R would be if the vote to reject was above 80% which is not going to happen.

i don't see anyone jumping up and down expecting similar profit sharing checks. some people understood from the get-go, others figured it out after a few years of disappointing checks.

i always argued for a premium over delta...acknowledging that the aa's current america west brain-trust are spinning their wheels - top line (revenue) and bottom line (income) in comparison to delta.

as of right now, we can't even get 1% more than delta.

i'm voting no and i'm sure the assoc. will know why some vote no. do i expect more? maybe, but, i expect them to RESHUFFLE the fleet money.

i'll be g'damned if i'll vote yes to paying more for insurance than my co-worker....especially after the same co-worker had 5 1/2 years of more holidays/higher holiday pay/sk time and cheaper insurance than me.

So here is a question. It may have stated it and I missed it, or it might be in the "details. If a guy is hired after this JCBA is agreed to and he is hired in PHX (IAM stronghold), does he/she hire in with the better medical therefore having better medical than let's say a legacy AAer with 35 years?

From what I’ve heard in the next 3 weeks the language will go through a final tweak and every member will receive a complete physical copy of the agreement...it will also be available digitally...then some kind of roadshow to roll it out to the membership...finally there will be 1 day to vote at a designated location in each city...if I were to guess?...I would say sometime in March.
1 day to vote? No way! Got to be kidding me?? I hope this is not true. There should be 3-4 week time frame to cast the votes not 1 freakin day.

Yes way...ask the IAM guys how voting works.
