AA and Labor Negotiations-2020

They dont staff class 2. Its an iam thing

Our "class 2" are covered by a few lines in the contract under article 2, scope.

Such as:
"In locations other than CLT, PHL, PIT, and LAS ground equipment maintenance MAY be performed by employees under this agreement or by vendors".

"The scope of work for Plant Maintenance in CLT, PHL, PIT and PHX will be determined by the company".

Other than that, you can take your job protection verbiage and line the walls of your new crash pad with it.

As I looked at the highlight sheet do I think this is a great offer, no I do not. Do I think the offer is terrible, no I do not. It is mediocre at best, but do I believe the ASS can do any better if we send it back, absolutely not. Most of us here are at are peak earning years before retirement and time starts to become our enemy. If this was sent back 3 1/2 years ago I would probably vote no and send it back to try to get more, but after waiting all this time combined with how dysfunctional our representation is I have ZERO faith we could get anything better.

This is just my opinion I hope everyone votes for what is best for them.

Are you LUS or LAA?

So what some are saying here and unverified is that we have one day to vote in person at a designated location. If your day off, out sick, leave of absence, out on vacation, a commuter out of town home on days off and CS off or any other situation that you will have a difficult or impossible time to vote on that one day window. That is the most absurd thing that a union can do. Over four years of negotiations and then we have only one day to vote in person. I call that hogwash.
I'll wait until the details of the voting process are released.

So here’s what I see, so far nobody has seen the complete agreement. No road shows so where many questions will be answered
The ASS is recommended a yes vote, and again I believe that generally means nothing much can change with a no vote.
All that will do is further delay some of the gains in this agreement.
Now with this heath crisis going on this is going to cause lost revenue and I for one am not willing to take a chance or wait another year for an improved agreement, which is unlikely.
I know many here think I’m a company man, no I’m a realist and I’m also not going to look at 1000s of dollars sitting on the table and just walk away because I didn’t get the pennies too
Anyway everyone has to decide on their own and I won’t change anybody’s mind.
Hey who knows after I read the fine print I might even change my mind

Most comments I read from IAM folks (not necessarily here) are in favor of it and it's a "yes", I can't figure that one out (sarcasm)
On the other hand, many comments from the TWU side are frustrated with it and realize they got the shaft but, more say yes than no from just my observation...Collectively, both admit that what the Association stated their goal was, to form one voice and get an industry leading contract was a huge fail, on both ends. They did not attain an industry leader, and we are more divided now than ever before.

Just to add and piggy back off of NYer, some of you folks think you are gonna be raking in the dough like Delta on their type of Profit sharing,
there are going to be some extremely disappointed employees when profit sharing rolls around and you see the disparity between AA and Delta.

Welcome to the IAM

I’ve seen that too. If correct, it’s inexcusable. It’s also straight out of the IAM playbook. We’ve had 1 day votes before at NW, and they did it not too long ago for 141 elections, and (if memory serves) for the last contract vote for LUS.
