A330-200 Envoy updates?

I'm pretty sure it is in DEC...I also heard that BCN and ATH will be 330-200's next season..

The school house in CLT is saying that the first -200 with Envoy pods will be on the property the last week ov November, and the next one within the first two weeks of December. That will complete the delivery of 5 A330-200s for 2009. If what Doug says is true (that the financing is in place,) we are slated to get another 7 in 2010. My guess is that they will send more 767s back to their lessors next year if their leases expire. That doesn't make any sense, of course, so it will likely occur.

BCN will be the 330 next season. I've heard through the grapevine that the ATH station manager has been told that they will not get the 330 next year. It doesn't make any sense, so it's probably true.

Woooooo, pretty.

Now the million dollar question - what route will get the pods?
The answer will most likely be 'what routes can yield the highest premium fares?'

I can understand TLV, LHR, FRA and MUC even. Then someone said BCN is among them, but I never pegged that to be a high yielding market for premium fares. But by May there will be 9 of these bad boys flying around, so I guess there's some flexibility in how they are deployed.

I can't wait until the company has to haul them to maintenance to install the flight attendant crew rest. You KNOW the company is going to lose that fight right? As for the pods I would imagine that the first will go on TLV. That seems to be the biggest money maker around here over all other t/a cities right?

I so hope you do win the crew rest battle.

TLV was my first thought. But that route is already doing well/making money. So maybe something like LHR as that competes with BA/isn't doing as well/needs all the help it can get?

If the company loses that battle, they could theoretically only outfit a few with the crew rest module like this (accessable from main cabin via a stairway into a multi-berth space)

What kind of modification is required for this? And, if the arbitration is for flights over a specific block time, then they could dedicate a few specific aircraft to this purpose rather than putting one in every single -200 that is delivered.

To be quite honest I doubt we'll see that kind of crew rest. I have a feeling we'll see some sort of walled off section on the main deck. While I believe the arbitrator will side with AFA I don't think they will require the company to go "all out" if you will.

A basic difference between the LH A340/A330-300 and an A330-200 is that the A332 is almost 20 Feet shorter and consequently has less cargo capacity. If you place a crew rest in the A332 cargo compartment, it could result in a situation where it becomes difficult to achieve overall Yields for long haul routes without raising fares to an uncompetitive level - when compared to say a 772. The ? is can the company afford the lost revenue from potentially high yielding cargo, such as PHL-TLV - particularly during the slow winter months when passenger travel is off ? Anyway, that surely is one of the tradeoffs, versus what the FAs want/need .
Cargo Capacity :
330/340-300: 10 - LD7s or 30 LD3s
330-200: 7 - LD7s or 22 LD3s
