2015 Fleet Service thread

I like that line, WeAAsels!
I once had a Lead tell me the same sentence many years ago when I first started working widebodies.
He (in the same breath) also told to come and talk to him when I got weekends off..........
About two weeks into the bid, I became one of his best crew members on the gate. That motivation later helped me become a Lead.

Makes me remember my low-time days..................
I love the new hire kids. Just wish they would put down the phone when they're walking the ramp. They come in after 5 and the way people drive after dark it's every man for himself, dangerous.

I just hit Bob because he acts like he has 20 years and keeps saying he'll vote yes even without seeing what the language looks like? You could teach him a thing or two about that foolish notion if he'd listen?

I helped get a friend of mine a job on the ramp back in DFW. He's got 7 months and turns 49 this month. I'm just not interested in voting for something that gives me tremendous gains if it winds up knocking him out to the street. Or honestly knocking Bob out either BTW.

He posted a review I wrote on Amazon for RUSH Vapor Trails and my picture 2 nights ago. Guess he got angry and wanted to show me. I wish he had posted a review I wrote for the Clash Live at Shea instead. Anyway it was gone when I woke up.

Miserable People on here these days.............
The desperate desire for more money makes people that way. Not saying money doesn't help or that I don't want it either but I'd rather not let it rule my thoughts completely.

When it all finally comes I give it about a year before people are clamoring for more and trying to scarf up as much OT as they can to keep their heads above water on all those new purchases they made?

History doomed to be repeated.

The new kids are pretty dangerous,at least some of them. We had a guy wing walking at DFW a week or two ago and a new guy was texting while driving and ran him over. I heard he had 3 crushed vertebrae. Another new guy ran local carts behind the gate after a plane came in and while the crew chief was cutting off a cart the new guy took off and ran him over with the cart. 2 broken leg bones. They were so shorthanded before and then rebanked the flights so tons of new guys makes for some hairy incidents. Hopefully that's the last of them.

Talos   hope the peeps hurt be ok.

people have to realize when the time comes to vote on a contract  look at scope first and foremost   then wages     scope determines job security     cant wait til see what kind of proposal the company has in store   esp with good ole uncle jerry involved

Lots of pumpkins on the AA sides of the ramp at DFW over the past month or so(they could be amt's)!! There's been a non stop flow of them on the eagle side for quite some time! Lots of them very young. Not being from the fleet group, I was Just wondering is there a high turnover rate or are they realy upping head count by a considerable amount? I was thinking high turn over, these young ones coming in working weekends,( their friends outside of the industry still out partying on the weekends)winter coming up, low pay to start. Is that the case? High turnover?

Some of the wing walkers on the eagle side are horrible , and I'm not talking the pumpkins. Some of them are out there at night dancing around, tossing their lighted sticks in the air, waiving them around, all while the plane is not ready to back out yet. It's Very frustrating and scares the hell out of you sometimes when all of the sudden there's a guy waiving his sticks around but there's nothing going on. Like I said, this is at term B on the eagle side at DFW, I will say I've seen none of this on the AA side.

SENIORITY is JOB SECURITY!

No it's not.

Ask the PIT and other stations about that or the UA folks.

Scope is job security.

SCOPE and Seniority. As long as the SCOPE specifies that we continue to do everything by seniority.

Without seniority they would not have been able to transfer or bump to other locations.

A job and a preferred location are sometimes two totally different issues in this business.

During the same week that TWU Local 556 conducted system-wide Union Meetings, we learned more details surrounding the suspensions of over 100 Members of TWU Local 555. The suspensions came as a result of TWU Local 555 Members attending regional Union Meetings to discuss their four and a half year struggle to negotiate a Tentative Agreement with Southwest Airlines.

These suspensions could not have come at a worse time; our TWU Local 555 Sisters and Brothers will be out of work during this holiday season while their Union fights the unjust discipline through the grievance process. To assist during this difficult time, your TWU Local 556 Executive Board agreed to donate to a hardship fund to support these workers and their families. We are asking TWU Local 556 Members to contribute to this fund to help ease the financial burdens of the suspended Members of TWU Local 555. All contributions will go towards helping our Sisters and Brothers stay current on rent and mortgages, and to help with basic necessities while they are out of work. No Union Member’s family should suffer for exercising their Contractual rights to attend a Union Meeting.

We must stand together in support of our Sisters and Brothers at TWU Local 555. Please show your support by contributing to the hardship fund. Contributions are non-tax deductible and can be found at: https://www.gofundme.com/twu555scalmco.

In Unity,
TWU Local 556 Executive Board

I can assure you there are no AMT new hires at DFW.  The transfer list to get to DFW is long.  Whether they are careless AMT's that aren't paying attention to their surroundings is entirely possible.

You do realize this is a fleet service thread and they are talking about fleet not maintenance?

Gee you chastise fleet for posting on the mechanics thread and you come post here.

Brilliant Einstein let's drop our salaries to 10 bucks an hour so we could bring Eagle  and all the vendors into 568. More people working right?

What does this mean? What in the world are you talking about? My friend in DFW is not AE. He is AA TWU. He started at the bottom of the step progression because there is no airport minimums in Dallas.

They have hired former Eulen people here in MIA and they are on the same scales as you and I are.

Do prey tell where you see me advocating anywhere for us to get less pay? People who work for vendors are still people. I want every vendor COMPANY gone.

Do you want something else?
