And over 4000 didn't bother to vote.
From what I heard they didn't fill out check-off cards, one of the things that are required to be a member.
And membership is a requirement to vote. And it was 4500 who didn't vote, furthermore, even if 99% of those who didn't vote, voted "NO" it still would have passed. I see no problem passing anything the association puts on paper with $30/hour attached to it. Money trumps everything!!
So kiss your fist pumping, unionism idealist thinking goodbye on this one!!

Ok guys. Digest this one. Today the Association sat down with the Company and presented them a FULL comprehensive proposal.

In return the Association got back from the Company, NOTHING!!!!!

Didn't Doug say in all those town halls that the Company was ready to negotiate?

Hogwash. Again they presented to our negotiators.

NOTHING..........

I missed the part where it matters which party submits a proposal first to the other.  I recall the company saying they were ready to negotiate, but I don't recall them saying they had a full proposal to present to the Association.  I'm glad they had a FULL comprehensive proposal for the company, I hope it's as good as the time spent working on it.

Sometimes you write intelligent things. Actually very good stuff. And then sometimes you run off the reservation.

Yes ask Brian. He is your President. Do you have a problem with him. If you do I'd have to say that's not his problem.
This sounds likes someone with future aspirations with the TWU. Unfortunately for him he thinks like the TWU and that  won't get him many votes at least not mine. The way you respond to someone who disagrees with you is atrocious, remember it's nice to be nice

Sure it sounds good and it is, as long as you don't sell yourself out for it. Total compensation is what to look at and the scope that goes along with it. I don't think it will be a big problem as I doubt the union would bring a contract with weak scope to the members to even look at. At least I hope they wouldn't. I've seen enough guys have to work here and live there and suffer pretty hard from it. People will vote for themselves but it's hard to think about giving this for that with this company after the last 12 years.

How about giving them a chance to maybe figure that out? Maybe they're waiting on the company for the next date? But no I would not be surprised if it doesn't fire up until after the Holidays like you thought?

As far as being a smart ass. Votes or not I'm not changing who I am for any of that. Cest La Vie.

Done alright so far being me.

I know some individuals always expect instant answers to their questions, but I believe the two parties have to first agree on a location and dates for subsequent meetings. Not having a crystal ball it will likely not be until after the Holidays.

Well here's what everyone was looking for.

After the Association presented the positions/proposals to American, management representatives then caucused to take a cursory look at the openers. Management then returned, complimented the negotiating committees on their level of detail and prep work and agreed to set future bargaining dates.
Those dates will be announced when they are confirmed.

I got the news in my email, and I've read the proposals.

I was just wondering something......
Since UA wants us to re-open our contract and start early negotiations, I am hoping that the surveys taken will reflect the membership's wishes. Scope for starters. And whose deal will happen first??

It looks like the company is listening, since Oscar went ill. The company wants to bring everyone together now, and they are doing small things to try to get everybody on board.  Since the climate has changed, I hope that the District finally listen to the members and put a strong proposal together similar or better than yours. IMHO, there is no need to rush. 141 & TWU should be on the same page that we should have industry LEADING contracts due to the record profits that each company is making.  In our case, we a doing a bit better, and the reasons for the past results attributed to bad management from the "C" Suite. The District has to take this factor into account when they come to the table.

Good Luck in your negotiations!!

All TWU members!
Watch the following video. This WILL be everyone of us, retirees included ,if they try to get us to switch to the IAM pension fund.

Please share on every forum you can find!!!!!!!

Do not listen to the Union dirt bags trying to justify this garbage pension, they are running it out of money. More retirees than workers. Simple math.

First question you need to ask them. Where is our stocks that you held back from us for a so called lawsuit. They are holding over $50 million of our dollars and we will never see it. Our pensions are next!
I see nowhere on there where it says or corrolatates this to the IAM NPF....

They are going broke very quickly. Don't let them get a hold of our pensions.

Dude, Seriously. I think your 401k could possibly say the same things the PBGC is saying in this report. It's not a perfect world.

It lies somewhere between the " High and the Low".
